  • While they’re both technically ‘bikes’, the airbike and the bike erg apply a very different stimulus to the body. And with a different stimulus comes a different adaptation, and different training effect for each.
    In this video, we explore the differences in the physiological effects these two machines can have on the body, and how coaches and athletes can use them both to their advantage.

    Wow the best and most informative comparison I've encountered yet! I'm sold on the airbike. It seems the other bikes are better if you're a cyclist, but airbike is best for overall health.

    I've got an echo bike, so great product, love it every day more... I'm get use to train twice a day, extra work from regoular box wod. 6:00 am with 45 minute 120 pulse, and HIIT in the afternoon. Great way to loose weight and build a good engine....

    I own the echo and it's a beast. It's big, heavy, sturdy, smooth but if you want to train for riding go with the other style. If you want a full body HIIT workout the Echo is perfect. You can go as hard as you can and the bike will still win. I weigh 300 lbs. and the bike is as smooth as silk.

    This is extremely informative… I liked the way you analyzed the training effects of each machine. I’m really having a hard time deciding, even then. Leaning toward the BikeErg because I think I’d be using it at a range of intensities as opposed to focusing on the peak efforts commonly associated with the Echo… still hard to decide, I know the echo can be used at a lower intensity and I do like the upper body involvement… I haven’t tried a BikeErg in person, but have tried the Echo. BikeErgs don’t seem super common around me so I would like to give one a try before I make the buy on it either way.

    I like to use an exercise bike both for conditioning and also to blast my quads with high resiatance pedaling. I was wondering which might stimulate more leg hypertrophy-- a Bike Erg where the resistance increases the faster and harder you pedal or a bike with friction or magnetic resistance turned up that you must pedal in a slow grind?

    • @franky197194
      @franky197194 16 дней назад

      Both the same as you can turn up the resistance to however hard you want it to be. Also, the Bike Erg doesn't increase resistance the faster you peddle, rather it's controlled by the damper setting (the lever on the side of the flywheel).

    Is there such a thing as a hybrid bike with both options using legs only or arms + legs? The arm handles can either disengage or lock from the drive-train so you can pedal standing with stable handlebars. This way you would have a normal spin bike you can pedal standing up, and an arms + legs air bike all in one machine.
    If such a bike exists please send links. If it doesn't exist please someone invent it.
    A hybrid arms and legs bike would be A 100% guaranteed best seller.

    if you live in a double storey house
    get up and down the stairs for 30 mins non stop
    thats way better than any assault bike and fancy treadmill in terms of burning calories.
    plus point your legs get a kickass workout
    People like to waste a ton of money in buying these overpriced equipment in the name of convenience.
    Instead you are better of investing that same money in a power rack with olympic bar a adjustable bench and free weights

      If you enjoy short fast workouts as in HIIT, its probably a good choice. You can do 20 min or longer slower workouts but i think there are much better and more versatile pieces of equipment. I find that my lifefitness elliptical can do it all and I probably didnt really need the Echo. But dont tell my wife I said that🙂
