This review belongs on my collector grade book shelf of military firearms. WOW, what a great review, I was shocked to see so many variants of the AR-10 and history I never new existed. 5 stars and congratulations for an epic review. Those were some very rare and valuable rifles. Well done, this was a great way to start the new year :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Once again, delightful. Fairly quickly, this channel is going to erupt in popularity. Frankly, you're giving a close look into some specifics, nearly unavailable source materials, and firearms that are almost entirely unknown. Keep up the great work!
Hi elitearbor, thanks for the kind words. We are trying to unearth some more obscure and little known facts about specific smallarms and also covering some more well know but seldom encountered firearms too. Vic
I look forward to it! So far, every video has kept my attention completely, where most "obscure" firearms are substantially more well-known. The belt fed AR uppers are especially going to be interesting to see... By the by, any news on the G11 dummy rounds? I never heard back via e-mail, although I understand that you're quite busy.
You can also check out the accompanying blog, which includes some great contemporary photos of the rifles, for this part here: armourersbench.com/2018/01/13/special-episode-the-armalite-ar-10-pt-2/
As a collector of some of eleven of AR10's, both Portuguese and Sudanese models, including sniper variants. I cannot thank you enough for such a comprehensive history of this firearm. Incidentally I own a Portuguese model that has a aluminum buttstock which the Portuguese used because the bakerlite buttstock fractured when rifle grenades were used. I wish you had more time to talk about the AR10 bayonet that had a Swiss type knife in its handle which again was ahead of it's time and the sniper scope also ahead of it's time. If I mentioned the name of the late Peter Wilkie of Swastika Ontario to you, I think you would know that I am the genuine article. All in all thank you again for such a great analysis and history of a great weapon.
range finder I would love to see your collection I’m currently considering reproduction of multiple AR10 variants and would love to get a idea of all the parts to re make even though I’m making a toy I still want to reconstruct a piece of history as was
Thank you for such a in-depth video about an amazing firearm! This video compiles and adds a lot of Info that is otherwise scattered or unavailable on the Internet, which is perfect for someone like me who is currently researching cold war firearms.
The carbine version is amazingly rare, event the many AR experts fail to discover it. It is not excluded in any CAR history, as an originating of all carbine AR family.
Excellent videos. A bit late to the part but but still very appreciative. The AR-10 was amazing for its time, it just needed a tad more development and much more production. Politics suck in every generation. Thanks for the look at BM-59"s too. Another excellent but underappreciated cold war rifle.
Hi Forestal Frank, I am from Northumberland (I'm a 'Geordie'). Best wishes to Austria, I know Klagenfurt & Villach very well having worked there many times over the years! Vic
Gordie - Very interesting. Had to look that up. I hope you had some productive and nice time in Austria. Aren't you going to do a video on the AUG prototypes in the future?
I suspect the only source of AUG prototypes is the Steyr factory! Would love to visit there if you have contact details let us know and we shall visit them! Vic
Hm, the Steyr factory and/or the Military History Museum in Vienna. But Steyr would probably have more background information and also the newer production models A1, A2, A3. TFB got a factory tour a year ago so maybe you guys too. I will try and give them a call.
Niiiice. As a historian, gun nut and a Dutchman I am very happy with this episode!

You will have to eat your words on the AR-102 being rare due to the BCL-102 lol.
