Could Shaun have developed into what was expected had he not get injured? Is his injury the worst you've seen in the league. Personally his and Gordon Hayward's to me. Salute to him for coming back and making a career out of it though. Solid.
I don’t believe he would have been what was expected but I do feel like he would have at least been a multiple all star caliber player. Also for me it’s definitely him George and Bogut that were the worst I’ve witnessed live. Hayward was bad as well but those 3 to me just looked awful/career ending.
You should do Andre Miller next. Felt he is the most underrated pg of the 00s. He was nice at Utah and was a good player who made everyone better. He’s like the modern Jrue Holiday who is finally getting his respect
Honestly the fact he bounced back from that injury and still became a valuable role player shows how talented he was before the said injury. I truly believe if he never had that injury he would be a multi year all star player.
Shaun is one of very few hoopers that I’ve watched play so intelligently. The brother rarely made poor play decisions, always made smart plays. Much ✊🏿 for this vid.
Man..now I see where you're coming from.. that's why I wish the NBA had the G LEAGUE back then..I hope young players see this and understand how difficult it is to play in the NBA... salute to SHAUN..he bet on himself...and he still had a modest career...
im from peoria and hes an absolute legend here. hes good to the community and we all love him got jerseys in every sports bar. when him and steph played together it was the perfect combo to get steph moving offball and shaun could guard the 2s. such a dope comeback story
Had he developed, went to college and strengthen his frame from top to bottom, he would have much betterment. Shout out to him for being able to bounce back like that.
Honestly surprised you’re just doing his profile. I was really rooting for him after that nasty injury. As a 6’7 point guard his era he could’ve really been nice. Great for him getting more chances and winning some hardware
That behind the back pass to pork chops was sick! Even after the injury I wish that they featured his play making abilities more. He really dialed his game back to make sure that he stayed on a roster. Good for him.
Buddy was going to be a star for sure. That injury derailed his stardom but didn't stop his career. His leg made me realize how Squimish I was. Scott van pelt told us to look away if we were and I watched thinking I could handle it. Then they showed it and I damn near passed out lol.
I remember thinking his career was over?? But to his credit he worked his tail off and came back, and was instrumental in the 3 chips he contributed to at GS. I remembered he came out of high school the same year as Sebastián Telfair.
@@stuntedgrowth Bassy wasn’t garbage, he just wasn’t ready and he was gassed up off being Steph Marbury’s cousin,if he would’ve listened to Rick P his career would be totally different
@@stuntedgrowth random story, at ucla back in 2003, they had high school showcase. Lebrons high school team played along with several high school teams. The last game featured Telfairs team. I will say that I distinctly remember that although the arena was filled up because of lebron, Telfair was the one that stood out to me and my fellow teammates and the whole arena the most because of his crazy handles and his jumper that game was unstoppable. It was one game of course, but his jumper was like Currys they night and he had several memorable crossovers as he was just having fun embarrassing the other team. As I continued following his career, he never met those initial expectations of when I saw him that first game. All this to say that I believe one crazy game and give a player ALOT of hype and analyst love throwing around the word potential. Well, Telfair certainly had a lot of potential based off that one game I saw in person. But in the end, he was all hype.

There was no guarding it. He always got it off, and it was money. Really brought a lot to that bench. Worst come to worst they just let him get those sure buckets.
His injury was crazy. I remember seeing him play a few times on league pass pre injury and his talent was clear. He was a good ball handler and great passer.
Man I remember playing NBA Live 2005. The Clippers young core was nasty. Always liked using Shaun because of his height, handles & layup packages. Still 1 of the greatest basketball games ever made.
Love the content of this channel. Yeah, as someone else mentioned, a BIG Stunt could have been getting picked by the Clippers in those days. As Vic the Brick noted about 20 years ago, you can rearrange the letters of Clippers and spell Cripples. Minimal training staff, facilities, etc.. Always followed the Clippers being in LA and wanted good players on the team but always felt sorry for guys getting drafted by them at the same time.
Good video. I think like you said if not for his injury he would've had more of a chance to work on his body and his jump shot to make him more versatile scoring and also saving his body some.
I dont think you can say his growth was stunted.. i would say if anyone went thru that injury and ended their career with 3 rings. That's a win my book.. good video..
Nothing but respect for Shaun, given what he went through. The fact that he came back and was an important player on three title teams says so much about his character and work ethic. I'm a UNC fan, but I do wonder if it would've helped him to go to Duke, even if it was only for a year. He definitely would've worked on his body while there, and maybe that would've prepared him for the grind that is the NBA. But. these three stunts are dead on...he never developed three point range, but maybe if he developed his midrange game earlier, he could've been more of an offensive threat. I remember during his early clippers days, teams barely even guarded him in the half court because he was basically no threat on offense. All that said, SO happy that he was able to have a solid career and make it all the way back from that horrific injury. Just because of that, I would say his career was a success
SCOTT SKILES. Probably most don't know him as a good baller and still holds the NBA record for assists in a game. 30 dimes! This was before Shaq,Penny and other big names. His squad including Terry Catledge,Jerry Reynolds,Otis Smith and a very young Nick Anderson. Think this would definitely be a unique old school special. Thanks bro. Love everything you do! Keep on ballin..
I definitely remember watching that game and just froze after I saw his injury but glad he was able to bounce back like he did. You should do one on Kevin Ware, who played in Louisville. He had the most gruesome basketball injury in my opinion
I actually believed that he was going to be better than D-will and on par with cp3. The reason why he and quintin ross were the clippers defensive stoppers. They actually had him guarding nash down the stretch of games in those playoffs when they started kaman, brand ,corey,Ross and Cassell. He was a great passer but in the vein of a lonzo not a magic.
Shaun was a major contributor to the Warriors winning 3 of them things. He deserves all the credit and respect for his comeback. This is coming from someone who detests GSW
Steve Kerr is exhibit A for shooting will take you far. He was so lacking in athletic gifts that he was literally enrolled in university as a normal student intending to play intramural basketball when his high school coach talked Lute Olsen, the new coach at U of A, into bringing him on as a good locker room influence. He was nearly on the same level as Curry, Durant, LeBron, etc. Even winning an MVP, I felt Harden's career still left much to be desire. All his personal accolades, he still fell far short team success wise.
In my opinion bad luck played a big part into it because between that 2018 playoffs could’ve been Harden’s championship year. Also Harden could’ve probably at least took one ring if the warriors dynasty wasn’t in the way or If he played in the weaker eastern conference between 2015-2018/19 ish.
