That doesn't mean the car manufacturers have to make it so that they never turn off. I have a 5yo merc c class and a 4yo Opel astra and I can turn the lights off completely in both.
Hello everyone. Can I appolgise for the confusion over the drl lights. Being a new owner at the time if this video I didn't understand the drl laws and how they changed from the previous vehicle I owned. Please keep in mind the other things I dislike with the car are only personal things. Over the time of ownership on the car I have learnt more about it. More will be said in a future video on the astra j. Many thanks
We have the updated 1.7 tdci version and it's like a rocket for a 1.7. had it 8 years and only had to replace the battery and tyres it's like a tank. 🤣
On my fifth Astra J now. Couple of gripes. ...... USB doesn't keep its memory and the air-con turns itself on at random when the car is first started. Only my current GTC doesn't turn the air-con on without me switching it.
I have the feeling you are not the most intelligent person on earth. You do not know what daytime running lights are for and you are mad about the way your battery is mounted under the hood. I think there is nothing I care less about than the way my battery is fitted. The lip under your front bumper is to reduce air flow resistance and to lower the fuel consumption.
Hi, these are only person thoughts on the car. Since making this video I have read more into drl light so my apologies for the confusion about them in the video. In regards to the battery one thing I dislike as a personal opinion is the sheer amount of brackets holding a battery in place in comparison to my 2006 vectra that I previously owned.
BLURB sorry mate, I apologize. You have got the 1.6i engine. This one does not need such a big battery like for example the VXR with its 2.0 Turbo or the Diesel engines. This smaller battery is cheaper and the mounting mounts keep flexible this way👍🏻
If your car has hill assist, you don't need to pull up the handbrake while on a hill with the engine on (cause, you know it has hill assist). The handbrake is to keep the car in place when it's turned off.
my next car at this moment is either going to be the car you should have got the 1.6 gtc 200hp or the vxr if I can find one that doesn't appear to have been ragged
To be fair with regards to the have to touch Ur phone screen to change music. Most phone now have siri or hey Google. I have this car and always connect my phone via aux cable and just use my voice to change music or answer calls etc. there's always a way round an issue 🤣.
Never heard of DRL? I have 2014 Astra and hill start is engaged by the foot break and not hand break, also Bluetooth phone can change music using the steering and radio controls
Man that car have one or both versions of hill start One of this is assist with electric handbrake looking like small switch on video you have normal handbrake without that feature. In electronic version if you put that thing in first position (one pull) you have assist which looking like you re manually do that in normal handbrake but the moment of brake release going automatically. And second one called HSA hill start assist what means if you staying upside with food on brake pedal you have to put clutch pedal and switch to first gear now if you make break pedal free the car still will be delayed. But to have that two features you must have electronic handbrake and manual gearbox ofc About bt that version of his car is totally basic cd300 manual climate control basic chairs. Only lamps are not stock but with a nice looking chrome bezel and smoked glass. I have Sport version after face-lifting with agr chairs, dual zone automatic climate control heating chairs and steering wheel and a lot more more than here even the light switcher is different I have 4 position one
I have this car, but the 1.4 turbo petrol Sri. Soooo much nicer, stereo is a flipping knob had to get a Bluetooth sender due to not wanting to pay for the 500 nav system +install cost. The WORST thing is the coolant hose to thermo housing clip that constantly leaks. New hose, new housing, new pump and still a dribble,O rings and ptfe tape sorted it(again complicated clips).. The handbrake easy, dont use it lol. One of the worst things is the door water had it once but found out its because my back windows aren't elec they occasionally slip down couple mm. But soon as I opened door water came out fine, new belt in them and fixed. Good car overall, easy to add mods amand play in engine bay, nice mmm on all metal parts and mine being Sri the exhaust is visible and easy changed.
Can’t believe your moaning about lights being On when you’ve turned the switch off. Clearly never used Daytime Running Lights, which are a permanent feature of cars made from a certain years.
Can I suggest getting a Bluetooth audio control button for controlling your aux music? They're tiny so you can velcro it anywhere and powered by a coin battery (I have mine just above the hazard button on my astra j). I also use a USB powered Bluetooth to aux adapter. As my phone will allow two Bluetooth connections at the same time, I can connect my phone to the Bluetooth to aux adapter to stream music to the stereo and control it via the control button. I've got my phone placed in the same location as you and it just saves having cables trailing everywhere. I've actually hidden the Bluetooth to aux adapter behind the dash and I'm powering it using an additional 12v cig socket which is jumped off the standard socket's fuse. I'm also in Wales 🏴
Battery tray is normal. There is nothing wrong from Vauxhall. You've got aftermarket battery that's why is smaller for some reason...Don't get me wrong but yours experience with cars is like just refuel car and drive...
Yea im not experienced but ive learned alot since i made this video and yes i didnt fully understand the car then and i did mention this at the beginning of the video and hopefully i would think my latest videos are of better quality and knowledge. Cheers for the comments 👍
Its not aftermarket battery, just a small engine doesn't need a big battery, its factory size and he's right about the clamps when i changed mine i couldnt be asked i broke all except the main one lol
Early astras had electronic hand brake ,had loads of trouble with them so put a real handbrake in., My 2.0D is definitely not underpowered, you pays yer money..... I would prefer drl's to stay at 21w rather than switch to 5w when switching on sidelights. A spare wheel would be nice and the my phone does not connect cos VX wanted 3 or £400 to fit the module (optional) other than that,..great car
For the light thing, it’s called Day running light.
the light that’s are on the the daytime running lights they are not surposed to be off
You are supposed to be able to switch the lights off completely. What you are talking about is auto setting.

Some versions of Astra have 4 position switcher
Completely off auto and last ones with video
That's a very odd set of dislikes, apart from the handbrake thing and the water plugs.
i agree they are DRL that come on not side lights ( UK Law for new models from feb 2011)
That car is absolutely beautiful
Thank you my latest video show more appreciation for the astra to recent date 😊
Thank you for this video. I am looking to buy an Atra J and it really helps. Greetings from Barcelona, Catalonia
Oh thats a handbrake
I thought it was an air freshner as the smell of burning goes away when put down
Question, do all of these models come with parking reverse sensors ?

so basically the daily running lights are on when the light switch is off? need to check this on mine
the only thing i dislike about my astra j i the lack of power !

Have the cat removed and professionally re mapping then you will see a difference, it will pass mot if turned right.

You can change it in the settings to default either to on, off or last setting

Can see this channel blowing up by xmas
Astra or a corsa? What should I get ( max £4000 spend guys)
Astra i would say. My 1.6 is worth about 3.5k now at best. Much more comfortable cars
By fuck dont buy a volve as you cant switch the side lights off at all
