I guess nobody expects to lose their child so early in life. I have heard of situations where the funeral home agrees to pay for the funeral & use it for a tax write off in situations like this. Or maybe even small monthly payments!! Having insurance is something we all need to think
about, but most people don’t want to even think about it because it’s too painful! 😢
So early in life, didn"t j.j ask if the son had kids and the plaintiff Answered yes. So the son was an adult when hé died
Remember that the funeral home is a business. It will not last very long if it gives free funerals all the time. People need to pay. In this case it is not clear whether she cannot pay or doesn't want to pay. At the end of the day the business needs to get paid to survive.
Barely afford to live?!? People who can barely afford to live can't afford to get their hair styled like that nor have their makeup done.
This is taking Grief Brain too far.
That's pretty low to try and take advantage out of paying for a funeral because you lost a child
She's off to a bad start for two reasons: lying about the contract and that hairdo.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
She definitely should have had someone go with her. My sister passed in 2022 at the age of 37 and my Mother was totally distraught! She absolutely did nothing but signed papers because she is the next of kin and my sister had no husband/kids. I took care of everything else with my husband and Aunt's help. My sister had insurance so it was a breeze. This woman lost a child and definitely should have had some family go with her during the planning. She goes on live TV and end up losing!!! Smh
Judge Judy is very beautiful and very intelligent and the best judge ever
Simp
Those people are always looking for something free. They are so entitled.
Yes they are you are so right.
Sad case but Judge Judy rules!
It is hard to sue someone and win when your hands aren't clean.
She just wanted an excuse not to pay. I'm sure that state hands out alot of applications for crime victims!🙄
I looked her up. The plaintiff’s son was actually murdered by his own daughter. 😮. The 15yr old daughter killed both her mom and dad. Sadly, plaintiff passed away in 2020. Looks like she had a life filled with pain.
Oh wow. Sad all the way around
😮😢
Wow. Someone that thinks like me!
I just posted the same comment. I went down the rabbit hole.
This is beyond tragic!
Less than $4,000 for a funeral?
Unbelievable that the mother tries to get money out of the death of her son😮. No pride at all😢 Get funeral insurance people !!
No mother should have to bury their son. I wish i could give this lady a hug. Sorry for her loss. 😢❤
-and jj doesnt even say-
-my condolences or anything ...-
From the way she can’t take accountability, I can tell her son was trouble.
JJ is not there to comfort. She's their to decide on the case. @@sunnystormy4973
@@sunnystormy4973 She did acknowledge stating "I'm sure you were going through a rough time". I believe she was approaching this case with caution due to the nature of the case.

i had to laugh about - what about my pain and suffering looool
Look at how shes dressed, that says it all. Wow ! she passed on to! Marlena Denise Moore
September 19, 1962 ~ August 16, 2020
😢
It’s real sad for her family.😢😢😢
She basically admitted she could potentially be receiving more money in future from the Crime Victims Unit!! 😂
3:34 "It's not being angry because of the child"
Just wow. Talk about a heartless mother.
Funeral Homes occur a lot of expense, these funerals are not free. They have to pay their creditors just like we do.
LMAO girl. He had them receipts.
Poor mother😢
Funerals are not free. What about his pain and suffering for dealing with that situation?
She is not an honest actor.
To use the language of the ghetto (seems appropriate). Marlina came to JJ thinking she was gonna 'bogart' her way through the 'testifony'. Judge Judy was so done with her (not knowing she signed a contact) that she did not bother to 'school' Marlina using her trademarked '4 corners of a written contract' explanation.
Poor thing (Marlina) did not realize funeral directors have seen it all and don't get fazed by some drama and tears. Malcom was prepared from the jump and was not offering discounts, rebates, or coupons for dealing with ungrateful customers.
Malcolm came dressed to get his Benjamins!
This is why I am making my arrangements now, and they won't include a traditional funeral home.
Omg, does she not have mirrors in her house? Whoever said that hair do was a good choice should be arrested
"I don't remember signing a contract" BS!!!!
She's greedy as usual 🤦 that was a very good price for a funeral (even back then) but she was hoping grandpa would pay the whole amount and then she would keep the state money 😠
I feel bad for the plaintiff on account that she lost her son, and I can understand that her mind was not in the right place at the time she was planning for the funeral, but regardless, once you have a signature on the contract and agree to make specific payments, that is it. You can't use your grief as an excuse not to pay what you owe.
That wig and her trying to hustle money is criminal. The first lie was , she didn't have a contract, afterwards, dodging direct questions.
Sad her so was killed however no excuse to sue.
I really hate when people lie
It’s sad but when some people suffer loss they want everyone to take care of everything for them. Unfortunately the reality of it is bills still need paying. Pain and suffering for a service you haven’t paid in full for!?
This lady is using every excuse to not pay what she owes.
As soon as I heard the "pain and suffering", I'm thinking "good luck with that one!" It also kind of suggested she was in it for the money than anything else.
You gotta pay to enter the world you gotta pay to leave it 😕
No lie I’ve never heard of a funeral home down here in my area pay after the funeral we always pay before
Yes! Dust to dust, ashes to ashes. Pay the damn bill!
I understand her pain but did she expect to have a funeral for free?
How in the world do you sue someone and you still owe them money? This lady must be from Mars. Make it make sense 😂
How is she suing for money SHE DID NOT pay for. This reads “trying to get something for nothing”. 🙄🙄🙄 Thank GOD for SIGNED contracts.
