It should be noted that Marx idea of higher-stage communism is one of not only a classless society, but also stateless and moneyless. He did believe that the transitional period, right following the initial revolution would have a state, and that that state would eventually 'wither away'.
As I understand it, in his earlier works he advocated for state seizure of many industries, but in his later revised ideas (particularly after the Paris Commune) he believed in a more decentralized network of communes with a more limited state (a bit like what Council Communist would later advocate for too).

The government no matter where it is in the world is simply a dictatorship for the class that controls it, in capitalist society capitalist control the government and influence policy. In a communist society, the government is the organized body of the public, and is used to enforce the demands of the public, which means the public influences policy.
If production is centralized, it basically means that it’s owned by a governing body..
under communism, the governing body is the public and a process called democratic centralism is used to develop the material conditions of society.
It works like this, the public inserts demands and opinions through a socialist state they create & elect directly..
There ideas and demands as a whole get centralized into a head point (historically speaking, it’s always been a communist party at the head point)
the head point concentrates these ideas and demands into economic plans and plans the economy in the interest of the working class to materialize their demands and interests so that they’re free access to all people.
In this fashion, the working class is The government & they use it to materialize their demands and interests.

Communism as an idea preceded Marx and Engels and was developed after them, and I don't mean by Lenin, Mao, and others. Many anarchists believe in communism, favoring the achievement of truly classless society through mutual aid (i.e. charity that offers ways to pull one's weight in turn) and the popularity thereof. States don't really have to take over when people can just abandon the commodity form (i.e. exchange/prices) that creates profit.

It is also noteworthy that Socialism has always worked best in capitalist societies. If you look at Norwegian, Albertan or Alaskan resource funds for Oil in lumber, it will see that the capital of space is what funds the little Socialist schemes with your obviously a lot better in Europe than in North America. Well, the Chinese communist even though they have adopted many capitalist aspects to their economy have no Socialism or safety nets to actually help their people other than a few things that are only good on paper the only real beneficiaries of which are those connected to the state. This will loom large and coming years as stale, democratic problems at the babymaking end of the pyramid, drag China’s economy down, mostly based on the one child policy, and the disaster that they caused for China. The one child policy was a top down, authoritarian move by the state this is common under communism.

Just as harmed it is now by the rules of capitalism

    • @dashboardkid21

Sure but that's because people under capitalism are encouraged to be selfish cause most of the wealth is hoarded by selfish people. In a Socialist society where sharing and mutual benefit and collective progress are encouraged that "selfishness" within people will eventually wither away. its like Pavlov's dog. If everything in Society reinforces your selfish desire then people come off as inherently selfish. Change that negative "selfishness" to a positive "Sharing" and before you know it people will know that its inherently within us to share.

How can communism provide equality to all and have the society share all i.e. property, food and things needed to survive as described in the video if the things equally shared are being held and distributed by a government who has the enormous wealth of goods to distribute. Would that not make it flop on its head because the basic principles are destroyed by one government having the power over the people and deciding when enough is enough for the people? If not the government then would a council of people decide who distributes the goods? What I'm not getting in this video is who is in charge of the distribution of common wealth in a communist society?

The fundamental flaw in communism and indeed socialism is that the “capital” or "means of production”, is not under control of the people but rather those who sit on top the power hierarchy. It is they who will determine what peoples “abilities” and what their “needs” will be. Thus in practice, it invariably ends up looking like feudalism, or slavery to the state.

@Be Honest : What is Capitalism ? All systems have capital, even if there are no corporations. A caveman’s capital, might be a flint knife, a bear skin, and a smoldering ember. The issue is who is allowed to own and or control the capital. Historically those with the most political power, can seize and or control the most capital. Our countries founding represents an attempt to separate the control of capital from political power, and create a bargained for relationship between our leaders and those they governor. So too is a relationship between the employer and the employee, granted not all parties have the same bargaining power, but it's much easier to get a new contract or new employer, or even become an employer, than it is to get a new government, unless the government is the sole employer, which is the case and communism. The corporate world and the communist world have one thing in common; the leaders in these worlds know how fiendishly they cherish their position of power, and they project that same lust for power on all others.

Communism looks good on paper, but when it's applied in the real world and the human element is added into the mix, things can get messy very quick. While communists say that the people should own the means of production and promote a "classless" society, you have to have someone at the top deciding who gets what, how much they get, when they get it, etc. This leads to a power vacuum where, in reality, the people have little to nothing while the elite making the decisions at the top have absolute power to decide on the basic factors of every citizen's life. By this point, you've given a small group of people the power to make complete decisions for the entire society, down to who gets fed and who goes without. Who's to stop them from skimming off the top or giving themselves more for being such a good ruler? Whose to stop them from withholding something from a particular group of people that, though they contribute to the society, don't agree with the decision makers? They get to starve for the good of the community. Take a look at the total number of people who have literally starved to death in communist societies over the last hundred or so years;.there were millions in the Soviet Union alone, plus more that were literally worked to death after daring to disagree with the party, even for arbitrary things. In a perfect world, yes, such a society would be ideal. But we don't live in that perfect world, and the sad truth is that someone who.is.given power over other people will eventually fall into egotistical corruption, or will align themselves with others that push them in that direction.

It does work in reality, there’s just a lot of propaganda around it and unfair treatment for those who attempt to change the status quo and develop an alternative system to that of the western model.
Keep in mind communism is a ideology that was created for developed nations. nations who have already industrialized, nations that are independent and who have access to producing things, and historically speaking we’ve always seen communist movements form out of colonized nations who were stripped out independence, where they have no means of production they’re largely just farming nations that provide for imperialist nations in the west, that are nations who are very poor to begin with, and these nations have to organize, survive and protect against u.s or western military intervention trying to stop them, and also they have to do this independently cause they also get sanctioned, blocked off & sabotaged by western forces to cut off any outside support that could help them develop properly, all with the goal of bringing the whole movement to a stop or forcing it to collapse.
So it’s not an easy task especially when you’re trying to do it out of extreme poverty as a starting point.

Communism (as per Marx and Engels) should create a classless society, where we do away with capitalism, and instead everyone theoretically collectively part owns major corporations, thus spreading the wealth generated equally, and not just in one persons bank account (ie. Bill gates $139. billion USD). Instead of capitalism where one person lives in a cardboard box and another living in a multi million dollar mansion, with communism everyone lives in a nice house. Unfortunately there are currently no communist countries as we speak (democratic with regular elections), instead all current supposedly "communist" countries are in fact not communist but instead "dictatorships" such as Russia, China, north Korea etc pretending to live under the guise of the "communist" banner as it were. It is communists that are into forcing work, which you have not had an America since the end of slavery. It seems to be glossed over in the video that the society decides what people will do for a living. This literally means the state gets to choose what you do for a job whether you like it or not, this is quite draconian for most Americans. That was a situation here in America is not desirable a jump out of the frying pan of capitalism into the fire of communism doesn’t seem a wise move to me. And neither of the Marxist or the capitalist right ever discuss tariffs, or Fees for foreigners, dumping their goods in American markets. These are all easy solutions that economist have deemed as bad for no other reason in the south interest of industries or ideology. The very idea of trying to get someone to live in the binary world between capitalism and communism, I find is an error , communism is nothing more than dictator ship. Historically capitalism runs the gamut between socialist Europe as they call it in the United States and the United States, as well as some banana republic‘s who oppressed their workers and control the means of production. Well, they have little communist movements that occasionally come to power, as in places, like Venezuela, and end up ruining the country. other versions of authoritarian Socialism, like fascism has taken route in places like Argentina under patron ism, and this leads to the same Ella fact as overtime those that are in power enrich their own families and friends at the expense of the general population for a limited from participating as the state controls off, or at least, as a veto against those would do things they do not like.

In Capital, Marx begins his analysis with an already existing capitalist economy. Marx can't explain how the capitalist economy came into existence because such an economy couldn't come into existence according to Marx's peculiar analysis of the capitalist economy where surplus-value created capital must first exist, but since surplus-value doesn't exist yet, there can be no capital to begin the capitalist economy. To overcome this inherent contradiction in Marx's "investigation", he begins Capital where we find an already existing capitalist economy:
“The wealth of those societies in which the capitalist
mode of production prevails, presents itself as “an
immense accumulation of commodities," its unit
being a single commodity. Our investigation must
therefore begin with the analysis of a commodity.”
The "investigation" needs to begin with how the commodities came into existence, that is how the capitalist economy came into existence, an oversight necessitated by a fraud.
Let's see if we can commence the Capitalist economy using the following Marxist tautology, "Hitherto we have investigated how surplus-value emanates from capital; we have now to see how capital arises from surplus-value.":*
    (1) What do we need to initiate the Capitalist economy? Capital, of course.
    (2) So let's get some capital...where is this capital, according to Marx?
    (3) We get capital from surplus value, Marx tells us, "capital arises from surplus-value."
    (4) Okay, so let's get some surplus value to get capital. Where can we find surplus value, according to Marx?
    (5) "Surplus value emanates from capital", Marx's tautologically informs us!

I think that communism in theory sounds way better than in reality. But... because of everything that happened in the communist period i think people take that as a stereotype of 'Communism' which is not the whole deal & in my opinion the community owning everything thought hasnt been put to work in the eastern block because it was not 'ruled' by the people, it was ruled by dictators that just wanted to spread propaganda and take use of the system for their own good.

Communism stops wealth inequality. People who live in a capitalist country have little idea that it also has aspects of communism in the form of socialism. These are things such as the police service, fire service and in some case health care which aren't privately owned therefore non profit organisations. Personally I don't think there is a perfect economy.

It doesnt sound bad as a concept. Nearly all the giants of a capitalist country have gotten there by doing bad things to lots of people. If doing lots of bad things to lots of people is what drives economy, inductry and innovation, then I would rather be iwithout it. America does resemble everything Marx said it would become. I think both Capitalism and Communisum could work if people werent inheritly selfish or corrupt. Both try to solve the problem: What do we do when a few powerful and greedy people take control of the country? At the core of it, people are the problem, not the plan.

  • @manie3232

China is really not Communist anymore as the majority of companies are "privately" owned. Well that alone makes it not a communist country then. Communism comes from the word "commune" where everything is owned collectively by the community.

  • @Krogzaxants

Communism by itself does not work. But i believe anarcho-communism can work. It's almost the same, but then you have leadership without authority over people.
Power corrupts.. No one should have power over others.. and no one should own private property. Money is also a tool that make exploiting people very easily.
Humanity should be more like a bee or a ant colony. Working together for the greater good of humanity instead of a boss, greed, profits or leaders.
