For the record, (before Breath of the Wild) Zelda fans were definitely complaining about the state of the series; they were becoming so predictably formulaic that Skyward Sword was the final straw for many fans including myself
It had nothing to do with the formula skyward sword was just a terrible Zelda game better than all the trash Sony releases but still embarrassing for a Zelda game.
I don't know what world these guys live in..."no one was complaining"? Dude the whole world was complaining, and it got so bad Nintendo had to focus so much resources in saving the franchise that we only got remasters and a couple of experiments for almost 7 years until the next mainline entry was released😂
@@ADe-p7d No the formula was a massive contributing factor; get the three things that make the story plot thing happen via a forest dungeon, a fire dungeon and a water dungeon, each of which you'll get an item half way through which you'll use to defeat the boss. Then the once you collected the 3 magical macguffins you'll need to get another 3 or more macguffins via a desert dungeon, a spooky dungeon and probably an original dungeon with enough unique mechanics to convince you that you haven't bought the same game again for the 6th time. Honestly, ignoring the inconsistent motion controls, awful story and bloated padded sections, Skyward Sword took the formulas established in AlttP + OoT and ran it into the ground.
These comments are harsh. I loved Skyward Sword, I actually wanted it to be the direction the series would go in after I finished it. It’s in my top 2 Zeldas easily.
@@ADe-p7dabsolutely wrong lmao. Skyward sword is really good. Even if you don’t like it, it still can rank with the best of the Zelda series. It’s not embarrassing at all,
Excellent list! I had to Google the release date for Disco Elysium because when I saw 2019 in the video, I couldn't believe it's been 5 years since we were blessed with such a masterpiece, but sure enough, it has. 😅 I would add Yakuza 0, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Pokémon Arceus, Metaphor ReFantazio, and Dragon Age: Inquisition as honorable mentions. I know that Veilguard just came out and I've only played 4 hours of it so far, but Inquisition was definitely better overall.
Only game on the list that doesn't belong is Last of Us 2. The first 3 Dragon Age games are awesome but so far everything I've seen & heard of Veilguard looks completely cringe.
@DragonHeart613 Yeah I actually liked The Last of Us 2, but it definitely paled in comparison to Part 1. From what I've seen and played so far with Veilguard, it's like Bioware tried to emulate what Larian Studios did with Baldur's Gate 3, but they made a Wish or Temu version of it. It's not the worst game this year (although it is the worst in the Dragon Age series), but it's far from the best.
Great list! I would have put Skyrim but then looked up how it was released in 2011, Ahhhhh!!!! One critique i have and it's same for other videos, is the rule where you pick one thing per franchise. I get why you do that and have seen rare times you break the rule, but I'd think it be cool if you broke it more often. Or have a seperate video where that rule is not there. I am sure Last of Us 1 and Tears of the Kingdom would have made it here. Maybe Metaphor. EDIT: Last of Us 1 was 2013... 🤬 I am old...
Solid list, some of these I still need to try though have been on my radar. Yes maybe this current PS5/SeriesX/end stage Switch leans to the fact that most on this list are not exclusive to a console released post 2020 outside of Nintendo. It almost is a marker of how many titles from 2014-2020 killed it, hell even 2023 was great for gamers, maybe it’s nostalgia but it feels like the ps4/xbone/beginning switch era provided us content we simply have little equal to now, Wake 2 is the exception here but it really feels like you can play any game on this list and fool yourself into thinking it was a 2024 release. I’m just waiting for the era where this current gen is putting out unarguable classics that couldn’t be done prior
What do you mean so far? Are you referring to so far in the 2020s? So why include games from the 2010s…? Or are we looking at games from 2014-2024? In which case the “so far” qualifier in your title is unnecessary and you simply mean to say “The 20 BEST Single Player Games of the Past Decade”.
17:31 "no one was complaining about the current state of the Zelda franchise" - excuse me but wtf?! WTF?!?! Everyone was complaining about how formulaic and linear the games were becoming, not to mention the needless gimmicks that were forced upon the player bc Nintendo wanted to be different from the rest. These features went overboard with Skyward Sword, ultimately leading Nintendo to reconsider the basics of the whole franchise (gameplaywise) for 6 years
So many single player games and i just have played a few from this list like Zero Dawn and spider man. I want to play Cyberpunk 2077, The last of us part 2 before HBO release season 2, ghost of Tsushima and GOW Ragnarök as well.
Remember my fellow gamers, we all have different tastes, and this list is great nonetheless. If you don't like some of these games, that doesn't mean they suck or they are trash, it just means you don't like them. Single Player will always be better than multiplayer. True multiplayer is when you have your buddies next to you, in the same room, and online will never ever beat that
Never had the urge to buy RDR2… never played the first one… am not a fan of the „cowboy-genre“… bought RDR2 just out of boredom… now… i‘m a car-guy that has 600 hours on GT7 and 2000+ hours on RDR2. Best Game ever made. I’m not sure GTA6 will be able to beat it.

I'm so glad we've (mostly) moved past the era of blind hatred for TLOU2. It's a bold, ambitious title with a clear vision and a surprisingly uplifting message of love triumphing over grief for how bleak the events are.
No hate to any of these games but since the title says games of the decade. It would make more sense if it included games from 2020 and current. Maybe mid to late 2019 should count but games from 2018 and and below belong in the 2010s.
NGL the fact that Horizon is on here at all, not to mention picking the first game over the second, really makes me question whoever is writing these video's taste. Also, what do you mean of the decade so far? There are tons of games before 2020. You mean of the last decade?
@@ADe-p7dGod of War, Uncharted, Tlous, Horizon etc are objectively some of the best single player games of all time let alone decade whether you like Sony games or not.
As someone who played Ghost of Tsushima, God of Waw, Breath of the wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, Tears of the kingdom, Horizon, GTA, Elden Ring, Spiderman, Fenyx Rising, and others I find it difficult to so see how Baldur's Gate III is fun as for me it's very boring and not to my taste of open world games
Well, it’s different from the games you listed in that it’s not like an action rpg, the combat is very different. It did a great job of pulling players from all genres which is an amazing feat, even if the game isn’t for everyone
The title should be "the most popular game of the last decade" because like who think ff16 or horizon is one of the best game in the last decade ??? put metroid dread instead.
While I agree that Metroid Dread should have been on this list, Horizon is an extremely underrated franchise, and it is refreshing in many many ways. They just made the mistake of releasing it in the same time-window as BotW and TotK

It’s not embarrassing at all,
Tears of the Kingdom deserves to be on the list too, with it's own spot or at least sharing the same spot as Breath of the Wild.
TOTK was the better game but BOTW really revolutionised the entire genre
No. It doesn’t possess the same freshness BOTW had. There was not much of a purpose to explore and the story is kinda lame.
I love botw but disliked totk
@@badmeetsevil6163just wrong.
@@JaMi2310 you are
In the first and second place I only accept Elden Ring and RDR2.
They're not ranked. They're just 20 dope ass single player games
Red Dead Redemption II. An absolute titan.
Those games don't even make my Top 100. 😂🤷♂️
To each, their own.
Ehh i never played them so I cant relate
Top 10 but not 1 and 2
Great list man 👍
Uncharted 4: “You are an unnecessary inclusion of Naughty Dog’s legacy.”
Last of Us 2: “There’s nothing you can do to stop me!”
Uncharted👍
Last of Us 2👎💩👎
Bait or Retardation. Call it
Uncharted is way better imo
Great list!
Why are Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth consistently overlooked?
Great list ! The respect & fun that these games have can never be surpassed by the likes of mtx filled season pass based multiplayer games !
Pretty awesome that I own almost all of these. Now actually having the time to play them, on the other hand...
Why does this thumbnail look so nostalgic it's like I have seen the same thing elsewhere or here
How could you forget about the beloved xenoblade 3 n like a dragon infinite wealth?
awesome job about The BEST Single Player Game of the Last Decade from Top 20
Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth should've been at least an honourary mention, considering how much fans wanted to see it happen
finally a proper game list!
Final fantasy 16 is the ultimate power fantasy single player game!
HAHAHAHA make fool yourself
@@erwinjimenez3885 I read this comment in my head as the voice of a Cyclops or bridge troll
So many sneaks in here but Single-player will always remain king
Amazing list, I would also include xenoblade chronicles 3, final fantasy vii rebirth and metaphor refantazio, yeah jrpg fan 😂😂😂
Ok, but what would the number one game be? Also, Red Dead needs a remake.
These features went overboard with Skyward Sword, ultimately leading Nintendo to reconsider the basics of the whole franchise (gameplaywise) for 6 years
What's the Uncharted theme cover playing in the background?
So many single player games and i just have played a few from this list like Zero Dawn and spider man. I want to play Cyberpunk 2077, The last of us part 2 before HBO release season 2, ghost of Tsushima and GOW Ragnarök as well.
Metaphor Refantazio should have been 1
Of the decade? Come on man, the game only just came out.
You’re silly
Let's not get crazy...
It's 1 by far, people who say no didn't play this game
hehe a real FANBOI huh...
When you reached game no 19, i was ready to bet all my money the last one would be rdr2
I agree with pretty much all of those picks, but I love Shadow Of Mordor!!!
How am I supposed to track if there’s no chapters? Make damn time stamps.
Resident Evil 2 remake should be on this list.
The Ghost of Tsushima sneak
Bro forgot my boi SKYRIM
Unfortunately, Skyrim came out in 2011, which wouldn’t count.😕
Clear win for Playstation. The only games I personally would add are Yakuza 0 and the FF7 Remake.
Those games are incredible
Top 10 games of the past 10 years IMO are:
1. Persona 5 Royal
2. Bloodborne
3. RDR2
4. Disco Elysium
5. Hollow Knight
6. The Witcher 3
7. Omori
8. DS3
9. TLOU2
10. Hades
Kingdom Come Deliverance belongs on this list for sure.
Dordogne and Ori Blind/Will are most beautiful.
I'm so glad we've (mostly) moved past the era of blind hatred for TLOU2. It's a bold, ambitious title with a clear vision and a surprisingly uplifting message of love triumphing over grief for how bleak the events are.
Whats crazy is 8 or 9 of these are Playstation exclusives... CRAZY !! And i would've added Blasphemous and Dead Cells to the list but thats just me.
No hate to any of these games but since the title says games of the decade. It would make more sense if it included games from 2020 and current. Maybe mid to late 2019 should count but games from 2018 and and below belong in the 2010s.
It would be 2021-2030. They should prob change it to last 10 years
The narrator says of the last 10 years , so they mean from 2014 until now , the title needs to be changed
I agree but the unfortunate thing is there wouldn't be 20 good games 😢
@@dosomething6975 There has been plenty of great games since 2020
A decade just means 10 years. _Any_ consecutive 10 year period qualifies as a decade, not just the designated 00s, 10s, 20s, etc. units on a timeline.
Honorable mentions:
Nier: Automata
Freedom Planet
Freedom Planet 2
Is that Madara's voice actor in the beginning?
FfVII rebirth is better than 90% if not all the games listed (you can make a case for BotW and BG3)
God of war has the best soundtrack ever( in my humble opinion)
the list is rage bait for the comment section. Any interaction is good. the voice-over doesn't even know what a decade is, sounds about right lol
My bad. I thought when they said ‘decade so far’ I thought the 2020’s 🤷♂️
Am i dumb or the decade was started in 2020?
I mean what Botw and other 2010-s games does on that list?
I only played 7 of them + 1 demo. Some of them are on my list though.
Tears of the kingdom is just a better breath of the wild don’t let nostalgia fool you
NGL the fact that Horizon is on here at all, not to mention picking the first game over the second, really makes me question whoever is writing these video's taste.
Also, what do you mean of the decade so far? There are tons of games before 2020. You mean of the last decade?
The fact any Sony game is on here is more than enough evidence that these guys are clueless
@@ADe-p7dGod of War, Uncharted, Tlous, Horizon etc are objectively some of the best single player games of all time let alone decade whether you like Sony games or not.
@ no they aren’t I’ve played them all and they’re all boring walking simulators
@ also lmao at horizon it’s a pathetic open world that is boring as hell
@@ADe-p7dyour opinion isn’t a fact? What’s your list?
Uncharted main theme in the background is kinda forshadowing :)
It's an Uncharted remixed theme actually from Astro Bot's official soundtrack
Bg3 is going to be game of the decade fs.
Great list Watchmojo 👌🏿 👍 ❤💯😎🙏
Uncharted 4 that below was hurting
Top 10 games that doesn't deserve hate
So Alan Wake 2 makes the list but DOOM Eternal and Half Life ALYX are nowhere to be found?
Hoping Persona 5 Royale is on here. Such a great story and experience.
Happy to see Uncharted 4 make the list!!
Tears of the Kingdom is GOAT of single player games
Metaphor: ReFantazio is underrated again.
In my opinion, playing Ghost of Tsushima in whatever language that's not japanese is crime.
Detroit become human was a masterpiece, too.
They somehow put FF16 but not Nier Automata, like wth hahahahha
Exactly! Like how is cyberpunk on this list
While I agree that Metroid Dread should have been on this list, Horizon is an extremely underrated franchise, and it is refreshing in many many ways. They just made the mistake of releasing it in the same time-window as BotW and TotK
Horizon deserves it's place
devil may cry, kingdom hearts, nier, bayonetta, resident evil 4 original. final fantasy 7. Astro bot shoukd not be there
Mgs4
I feel as though Luigi's Mansion 3 should have been mentioned, that was a great game.
