This interview brought back memories. I was a youngin in ward 8 during the time He was speaking of. I remember hearing alot and seeing alot and wondering. Jimmy was someone I looked up to then. This brought alot of clarity to the situations then. Great interview 💯 SALUTE
This is an incredible story. I think about my past all the time and how being in the streets and being a father puts you in a vulnerable position. I tear up at times but thankful I'm still here.
From SE and was at Ballou when Jimmy and his family ran the Deli Den, corner of MLK and 4th St., it's a church now but it was the hangout spot at lunch time. Serious crew, serious stuff went down. Remember it well. Panama looks and sounds good. Great interview E.
Funny how alot of older dudes act like they didnt fuck with out of towners but you have stories like this where they came and thrived. I guess because real recognized real.
Calvin had the Gold 5 series, and his brother Savior had the green 5 series back in 1989-90. When Jay Z said on the song Allure” I never felt more alive than riding shotgun in Kleins green 5, until the cops pulled guns” Klein brought the rims from me off my BMW, and put them on his back in 1990. I sold him a set of AC SCHNITZER rim, they were only made for BMW, just like AMG is for Mercedes. The 1st person with them rims was Rich Porter rip (Harlem) After I seen Rich with his, I went and brought a set. They were 4K back in 89 which was a lot back then. Rip Justice from Redhook!
Very interesting. I’d like to hear more about the different sides during the murder cap era. I think a lot of people don’t understand things were much deeper and much bigger than just Rayful, Alpo and Wayne. It’s my understanding that there was more than a few dudes like Wayne running around and definitely a few dudes touching serious paper like Ray and Alpo in the city. People need to understand that Paid in Full is just one small side of things during one part of that era.
@ 14:52 when Panama said he put his son in harms way on a consistent bases was real!!!! I went thought that same shit in Brooklyn in the 80s . Being a dad and a gangster. Only difference was I’d have all 5 of my kids with me, and I never crossed my mind that they were in danger. I think about in now in my 50s and it brings 😢to my eyes, to think what could have happened to any of them. Good Story… Wake the youth!!!!🫡🫡🫡
I’m from NY, and to me DC was worst, when I hit the town in 89. I remember pulling up in Barry Farms, and Parkchester, that was the 1st time I heard the song secret garden by Quincy Jones. Even till this day, when I hear the song i think of DC. I was Lucy to link up with a good dude in DC name Moonie(Jeffery Cook) rip
