I´m glad that Ford didn't give a f*ck about sales on this one. They just made something they wanted to. And it turned out to be brilliant. Four seats? Whoe needs that? Almost zero trunk capacity? I don´t care, as long as my guitar and a couple of six-packs fit in there, waiting to be driven onto the open road to a destination somewhere at the coast oder mountain side. I love this car so much, it´s a head turner and casts a wide grin into my ugly face, everytime I drive it. Epsecially over here in Europe nobody knows about this ride, and everybody keeps asking me "what the heck is this beautyful car you´re driving?" Thank you Ford, for letting me drive the dream car of my life!

@zimman56 when I first heard you say Angela White. I had to stop & rewind to see if you said that. When I confirmed you did I about fell out of my recliner Lol because I knew exactly who were speaking of but didn't expect to hear her name in a car review lol. I guess that shows what I have watched in my spare time! She is so thick, curvy & beautiful! Thanks man I know what I'll be doing tonight lol😂🤣😅
Ah this was awesome. I was worried you guys were gonna tear this car apart, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Even if it does share a ton of parts with the miserable Fords of the early 2000s, these things just seem special to me. I'm a sucker for all things retro though, so I'm probably an easy sell for this type of stuff. Kyle and his wife have great taste in cars!
I almost died laughing when I heard him say her name! I said to myself I wonder who else caught that and not everyone will know who she is like I do. It is what it is lol😅
RCR is one of the few channels I keep constantly checking for updates. It would be interesting if you guys went to Europe and reviewed some Euro-only cars.
+infiltr80r That would actually be really awesome. I don't give a shit how some European diesel econobox handles, but hearing Mr. Regular's take on its political and social implications would be great.
alex gerhard Indeed. There are plenty of regular but interesting cars in Europe, often with a good story as well. Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Seat, Rover, Skoda, Alfa Romeo, Dacia - lots to choose from.
+alex gerhard Exactly, I also dgaf about how many Gs yank tanks make in corners, but they all become so interesting while watching Mr. R. reviewing them. So yeah, RCR guys, come over here. And if money is the issue, we can always fund it, hell if each one of us would donate a buck, you could c'mere, review 10 cars, go back and buy yourselves some proper cars to drive XD
absolutely beautiful car, you can tell that care was put into the design, its not a box built somewhere in between aerodynamics and ease to manufacture, its a work of art designed to be subtle, yet bold.
Roblox Girl Gaming I know a lot of people have problems with one of the eight coils always going bad I have a solution for that problem, but if that's not one of her problems that's great
+Kevin Konopka (DrWatson) i really meant it. i mean you rarely see any cool cars these days. everyone in my neighborhood has modern cars (2008+) its boring to see that everyday.
It is a bit of eye candy! Isn't it😊 it's style is sleek and sexy! Most modern cars don't catch your eye like classic and muscle cars of the past did! They all look so similar!
+John C Mr.Meeseeks would drive an air-fuel bomb on wheels, or something that can go from 0 to lethal collision in under a second. He's not the long-term enjoyment kind of car owner.
So this hit my recommended a little late apparently. Thing of it is, I can't consider the RetroBird a Thunderbird. It was produced EXCLUSIVELY to be a novelty - A collector's car. It wasn't supposed to fully continue the line it carried the name for. Yes, it is pretty, and I like the way it kicks back to its roots. Sort of like the FJ Cruiser - It was only going to have ONE styling generation and that was it. That's all it got. Unfortunately the desire for such a car faded fast once the enthusiasts got it. And we can blame the Mustang for nearly everything about the car's death. The end of the real Thunderbird line is sitting in my driveway. While still not the Corvette Kicker they were born to be, I find joy in mashing the throttle in the 4.6L V8 Powerplant that sits in the nose of this midsize land boat. While the 1997 Thunderbird isn't seen or touted as anything besides a normal car, It is a rare one - 87 Thousand ever left the factory in its final run, and on the final Generation, Generation 10.5, Less than 200 thousand were made (1996-1997). I also have to tell myself I went from a 140HP V6 Toyota pickup to 205 horses of V8 power. Today, that's a sad little number, unless you want to match it up with the Fiesta ST. BUUUT That Fiesta makes the same 200 some horses on half the cylinders with turbos - And it probably weighs a good 800 or so pounds less. But for the Mid-90s, 205 wasn't too terrible. The irony is, the 1993-1997 Thunderbird shares half of its DNA with The Mustang - The one that replaced it in the "Muscle Car" segment, and the Taurus, the car it's own redesign in the 1980s spawned. While I don't see the T-Bird coming back, It would still be nice to see it return to avenge its former self - To rise from the ashes and start smoking the Corvette all over again. At this point, Until Ford gets the balls to get back into competing in the passenger car segments, It'll never happen. Had it not been for the Icon that became the Mustang, the Thunderbird may just be still in production today.
I just bought a pretty decent 2004 Merlot Thunderbird last year and I've had a blast with it. Was just shy of 100,000 I think like 97.5 when I got it. And was under 5K because the transmission was gone. Common problem for those cars but I had it completely rebuilt added a k&n cold air intake and a borla exhaust and have tuned it and this thing is a fun cruiser for sunny days and cruising LA with that nice V8 per that's not too obnoxious. Always was interesting these cars So when one was cheap enough and I knew I could put some money in I pulled the trigger and I don't regret it It's been a blast enjoy it more than I thought I would
Ah man, loved this thing when it came out (dad had a model of one that I loved to play with), still love it now. Shame it never came out in Australia though.
I love hearing The Roman do a review every once in a while. It's a nice change of pace. Also, everything up to 1:34 is enough to give Drake and Future's album, "What A Time To Be Alive," a run for it's money.
Hey everybody how's it going? Today, Mr. Regular and the Roman look at my 2002 Ford Thunderbird. This is gonna be a full in depth review of the Thunderbird. We'll start it up, drive it around and listen to the Roman talk about the history of it, as well as the car itself.

I had an 02 LS that this is almost identical to mechanically. I loved everything about it, it handled great, it was comfortable, it had a nice sound when you mashed the go fast pedal, but the repair bills were astronomical because even the LS was based off of the Jag.
My dad owns one in this same color, but with a black interior and white hardtop. I'm 31 and think it's pretty damn awesome. The only thing I wish it had was a manual transmission.
Y'know with the insightful commentary and lack of time wasting jokes (like when mr regular occasionally spends the better half of an episode doing a character) I like the roman review.
Some more info: The designer of this car intended to offer a supercharger package as a variant, and rumor is his personal Tbird, that he took with him as his own retirement gift, does indeed have a SC equipped. I imagine it was quashed by corporate, as 2002 was before the Mustang Cobra Terminators hit the market, and development for this car was going on in 2000 already. No way would they have allowed this one off retro T bird to outstrip a Mustang Cobra. The engine used was considered unique to the car when it first released, we found out shortly after Ford was going to put into their new Lincoln also. The engine is potent for it's size, and surprisingly quick. It also has some reliability issues. One of the major complaints when it was brought to market was the lack of a 5 speed option. The car screamed roadster with the top down, but was missing this key ingredient. It also was a significant departure from the Tbird/Cougar from the 90's, and much like the last Cougars we got, were simply not what that market share was looking for, and basically Ford let those owners out to dry with no real alternative at the dealers. My own opinion on this car: If it had gotten the supercharger option, this car would have had at least double the market life and possibly sales. The interior needed more WOW to it, while nice it was just like every Tbird/Cougar Lincoln Mark8 or even Mustang had been for the last decade. it needed morre Retro touch to fit the outside. Lately I have been pondering the idea of picking one up(they go for around 10K in very good condition) and seeing about a 5.0 Coyote swap, but I do not know if Ford has released any kind of ECU unit to run an automatic transmission for the 5.0, or if a manual transmission swap is even possible. Imagine this coupe with the top down with a 5.0 and a T-56 6 speed manual! Now that would be reliving the good ol' days.
I was looking back at The Romans review and I agree spot on; and I agree with what you have said. I'm a GM guy but I loved this car and could not understand why FoMoCo didn't give more love to this thing! It didn't need to go out and kill Vetts but it COULD have been one of the best GT cars for the buck if Ford had given any thought to some performance options. The lack of a manual trans and no "hot" motor or suspension options was damn confusing, and I think it confused the buying public too. It was almost like Ford spent all the time and money to redevelop the T-Bird and then just said "Well, here it is. Buy it or don't." Then Ford just seemed to turn around and walk away. Not really being into cars like I was when I was younger I have to ask; What are the performance mods/upgrades for these Birds? There have to be some Hot-Rod Birds out there in America, and I would love to drive one.
The cars are a blast to drive. Great acceleration, more than you want to, yet it's best when the top is off and you can cruise the boulevard in high style where you don't see yourself in every mile.
I was discussing the J Mays "retro-futurism" with a friend earlier today and used this and the 2005 Mustang as prime examples of brutalist objects that have signifiers of the past slapped onto them, but lack the delicacy in ornamentation or construction. I mean, those panels.
That being said, rework it a little bit, juice the drivetrain a bit, and Ford could have a second, smaller sporty coupe on their hands. Though you have to wonder how much they'd want that.
Like when Mustang and Tbird shared the Fox platform. They could fancy up the (whatever the platform designation for the gen.6 mustang is into a 'Bird if they really wanted to as their "aspirational" car. I don't think they want to, but it would be nice. The Mustang is the "Legacy" model now and it's what people all over the world know and it's what they want to sell. There is a reason they went to all the trouble to make a mustang with IRS.
I liked you guys switching it up. It made for a fun experience listening to The Roman for a change! Hopefully things go better for you guys than the last time The Roman narrated - then again people of the internet detest change in all its' forms...
I unmuted my sound to listen to this video, and didn't notice This Must Be The Place by The Talking Heads was playing on iTunes in the background. Thought you guys dished out for an expensive track, because it fit the intro song so well.. and then it fit the rest of the video.
+John Kerns Yup, never seen one of these before and wish I still hadn't. I really hate that fake retro look at the best of times, and this is probably the worst example of it I've ever seen.
Violetta It's not just the headlights; It's the all over lines and look of the car...... now the ,93- ,97 T- birds those resembled real car just on wheel base alone ; but thank you for your input ;) Guess what I'm saying is.... that..... it resembles a blister..... from a third degree burn.
If that Mustang-based Lincoln ever materializes, I have the perfect name for it. The car would be a spiritual successor to the Thunderbird and Cougar, but using either of those names would be a bit weird since it wouldn’t be badged as a Ford or a Mercury. So, why not combine them? No, not Thundercougarfalconbird! I mean, combine the animals, not the names. What do you get when you cross a big cat with a big bird? You get the Lincoln Griffin.
This is a good buy in the used market but the Jaguar V8 in them used plastic timing chain tensions and guides. Replacement with the revised metal parts is a must. They must have been on crack to use plastic for a part constantly exposed to scalding hot oil, under constant pressure, and vital to not only operate the engine but prevent serious damage. No one will really notice the similarity and use of so many Lincoln LS parts in the interior since LS models are very rare these days. Those cars were so bad they have all but completely vanished from the roads in about 10 years.
I'm astonished anyone could look at that ugly thing and not vomit profusely. It's like the unholy offspring of a PT Cruiser and the ugliest generation of Mustang.
+Kee715 To each his own, not everyone has to like the same things :) It's a great car, fun to take to cruise ins or daily drive. Dropping the top in the summertime is also nice! It's like owning a classic car without the classic car maintenance.
Great car? It's got a dinky little 3.8L V8 and I don't know that it even came with a stick shift. The thing would likely lose a race to a gutted PT Cruiser. If you like how it looks, fine, but the thing is not a good car by any stretch of the imagination.
PhatMann Sir not every car have to be a uncomfortable, fast car that falls apart after 3 races. Some cars can be slow with seats you that sucks you in.
I remember turning down a parking lot once, and being greated by this particular T-bird. The driver smiled at me and honked. It threw me off guard. Until I remembered I was driving my 79' T-bird xD
One of my art teachers drove a spoiled-milk colored Thunderbird. It may be an alright car, but for me it will never ever be able to escape the "Crazy eyed 60 year old art teacher" stigma I associate it with.

You can tell that is one of Kyle's cars, cleaner than a new car off the showroom floor.
My man..that Rick & Morty reference was so awesome.
nice to see you and Saabkyle finally did something together
Mr. Regular, I love you, but it is great to hear Roman do the narration! More ROMAN!
I KNEW I recognized that car, awesome to see you guys met SaabKyle04!
you just combined my two favorite things...
1: Cars!
2: Rick and Morty!
in a parallel universe, this car is a solid hit
I like how the car looks. It has a unique exterior and interior. Sleek but subtle.
RICK AND MORTY REFERENCE
I had an 02 LS that this is almost identical to mechanically. I loved everything about it, it handled great, it was comfortable, it had a nice sound when you mashed the go fast pedal, but the repair bills were astronomical because even the LS was based off of the Jag.
Balls.
These are actually very good cars. Solid, reliable, and beloved by customers. I dig it 😎
That Rick and Morty Reference
only people with a phd would of noticed.
Mind explaining? I saw every season but didn't notice it. I only have a diploma though, so that could be why lol
Which is the time lapse for the Rick and Marty reference?
My dad owns one in this same color, but with a black interior and white hardtop. I'm 31 and think it's pretty damn awesome. The only thing I wish it had was a manual transmission.
Love all the people that come here and go "what the fuck?!" Those sad unwashed masses... Great review gentlemen!
Y'know with the insightful commentary and lack of time wasting jokes (like when mr regular occasionally spends the better half of an episode doing a character) I like the roman review.
Lincoln LS. Not MS.
DeftonesFan867 still miss my V8 LS!
It's a joke, man. See, it's not a Lincoln "Mr."
Geddit? Geddit?
Basically, a Jaguar with different body panels and a Lincoln interior.
I love Roman's reviews. I hope he starts doing more soon.
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen one of these.
It's certainly.... different.
The cars are a blast to drive. Great acceleration, more than you want to, yet it's best when the top is off and you can cruise the boulevard in high style where you don't see yourself in every mile.
no LEGENDARY voice???
I was going to sleep, but I saw Mr regular uploaded so I watched it first, never regret the decision, best intro ever
Y'all both do amazing work, I'm glad y'all do these
Look at me I'm Mr. Meseeks haha
Patrick Star its blue, like mister meseeks look at me.
i lol'd
Hey @Patrick Star this Ford Thunderbird would suit u perfectly
There's absolutely something there. I have my grandma's garage-kept 1965 Bird and EVERYWHERE I go there are crowds that just can't help but to follow
-casio keyboard tune- BALLS -tune continues-
I liked you guys switching it up. It made for a fun experience listening to The Roman for a change! Hopefully things go better for you guys than the last time The Roman narrated - then again people of the internet detest change in all its' forms...
Bird is not the word for this car :):)
An absolute gem of a RCR video! Nice change up and loved what The Roman had to say about the Tbird. I would like to have one of these.
wtf is this, i want the funny guy to do the review
I always admired this car. My first car was a '94 thunderbird. Sure it had some flaws but I loved it. Lost it a few years back to rust. I miss it.
Roman's lack of decent recording equipment makes it seem like he is tracking his voiceover with a fucking potato
what's wrong fucking potatoes?
+Jonathan Fairchild Well, I hear that the starch build up can give you shaft rash.
There exists a soft spot in my heart for the Thunderbird. I can't explain it in English, but the French call it je non se quias.
thundercougarfalconbird
I unmuted my sound to listen to this video, and didn't notice This Must Be The Place by The Talking Heads was playing on iTunes in the background. Thought you guys dished out for an expensive track, because it fit the intro song so well.. and then it fit the rest of the video.
This has to be one of the UGLIST cars EVER!!!!!!!
+John Kerns It'll grow on ya'. Not a lot of people like bug-eye headlights, either.
+John Kerns Yup, never seen one of these before and wish I still hadn't. I really hate that fake retro look at the best of times, and this is probably the worst example of it I've ever seen.
Violetta It's not just the headlights; It's the all over lines and look of the car...... now the ,93- ,97 T- birds those resembled real car just on wheel base alone ; but thank you for your input ;) Guess what I'm saying is.... that..... it resembles a blister..... from a third degree burn.
agreed, this design worked well back in the day. Now it looks like outdated
+John Kerns The original design was totally drop dead. I can't believe what they did to it.
*"Like Mr. Meeseeks look at me."* That's the last thing I expected to hear on here! XD
It's. So. God. Damned. Ugly.

PhatMann
Sir not every car have to be a uncomfortable, fast car that falls apart after 3 races. Some cars can be slow with seats you that sucks you in.
I remember turning down a parking lot once, and being greated by this particular T-bird. The driver smiled at me and honked. It threw me off guard. Until I remembered I was driving my 79' T-bird xD
i was sleeping when i got the notification on my phone and boy do my eyes burn. still a great vid
Lovely switch up, young regular fellows!
when i was like 4-5 this was my dream car, dont judge, i love the way it looks and would still like to have one, i just love these
One of my art teachers drove a spoiled-milk colored Thunderbird. It may be an alright car, but for me it will never ever be able to escape the "Crazy eyed 60 year old art teacher" stigma I associate it with.
The car that sparked the retro vehicles that brought the mustang/Camaro/Challenger back to the 60s
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've be waiting for months for this to air; epic lash-up, epic switch-up, and just an all-out epic video!!! 8-D
