That is used to hoist heavy stuff down to the lower floors below... can't have fall nets in the way of heavy things...

it strikes how beautiful these buildings are. whenever i was in the montains and i see one of those, i wanted to look inside, because it intrigued my how a machine room could be so aesthetically pleasing. these places have this kind of athmosphere, devoid of people or life but still designed and built to look good.

What is the source of the water in the "waterfall" we see many meters below at 16:24? It seems not enough volume for the amount of water that must flow through the penstocks to power the 3 spinning turbine shafts. It also seems too much volume for the expected amount of normal dam seepage.

Hi, Edgar! Thanks for posting this video. It was very fascinating, just like your other videos that show us around these dams. I have a few questions for you:
:47: Are you all required by code to have those safety nets in the stairwell?
2:00: Why are those bird decals stuck to the windows?
8:30: What do those 4 tall red cylinders do?
8:47: I’m surprised that that “Exit" sign above the door is in English. Why is it in English?
10:25: What are those light yellow poles sticking up out of the ground?
14:25: Are we looking down the shaft where the dam wall monitor is?
15:34: Why is that transformer sitting on gravel? As opposed to sitting on concrete.
Also, where is everybody? Has the rapture already happened there in Switzerland? 😁
    Greetings from Knoxville, Tennessee!

    • @eggaeri
      @eggaeri  Год назад +6

      Hello,
47 No, we installed them for the guided tours.
2:00 so that no real birds fly in.
8:30 The bottom outlet is to be opened ( ruclips.net/video/6M9fDw4JcyM/видео.html)
8:47 In Switzerland, most of them are written like this.
10:25 I don't know exactly what these tubes are for, but the luminous color is light yellow so that you can see them without light.
14:25 This very wire goes all the way down.
15:34 The gravel is there if the transformer ever loses oil.
You only see them when the turbines and pumps stop working. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
      Greetings from Switzerland.

Wow.

Access shaft for the overhead cranes, if you need to replace something on the lower floors. It's covered with concrete slabs when not needed.
There's another one which is covered ATM between the second and third turbine.
