My mother talked of such holiday celebrations in her hometown of Ortonville,Mn. She was born in 1918 and said that at the front of the parade would be a wagon of the oldest men she ever saw. They would be wearing there best suits and holding little American flags. They were all members of the Grand Army of the Republic. They were all veterans of the civil war. Union soldiers. Her grandfather was on that wagon. She was so proud. He died in 1923 when Mom was 5. His obituary says that the local national guard came and shot rifles in the air at his funeral. I have old photos of him with his family and you can see the Grand Army pin on his coat. I have his discharge papers from the US army dated 1866. I also have a Bible that was his parents as it is printed in 1840 when he was born. In that Bible is a 4 leaf clover pressed by the pages. I have no idea who or when that clover was picked. Thank you for such a wonderful movie. I'm proud of my great grandfather Ephraim Brooks who served in Colonel Brackets battalion company D as a private calvary trooper. Thank you.

It was a pleasure watching this entertaining family movie. The young man was dependable, responsible, never lied, learned quickly, and was kind to animals. I have my great great gramma's dresser drawers and a few other furniture from both sides of my parents. Its been tough holding on to them. However, they are 100's of years old compared to the crap they build & sell overpriced that don't last even a decade. Heavey to move but I'm 62 now & if my kids & g-kids use & care for them they'll be around another century. I imagine what it was like to have only 2-3 outfits and sleeping clothes plus a coat hat & a sweater. Dresser has only 3 drawers. Harder life in different ways, and Lord, so much simpler.

I was sent to a Boys Ranch later, but I had a love and good ways with horses, so I was sent to harness them, lead them in and saddle them for group rides. Any movie with a horse in it is a good movie.

I tell friends; give me today's medicines, cars and then send me back to the 60's & leave me there! The muscle cars were fun, but handled terribly. The only trouble with the plot is that Twister--a beautiful horse by any standards--would have had to have been trained earlier.
