Was watching this live on the way home on the bus, I didn't see the birds, wondered what had caused him to do that, great flying and good catch by yourself.
At first I didn't realise what he was doing and was like urm he verred towards me lol, then he just throttled it and I realised it must have been a bird. But wasn't until I saw it after home that you could see the 2 birds, and they were like flying towards him

there was a fatal accident sort of recently involving an old Tutor acrobatic trainer for the Snowbirds where the engine ingested a small bird and it crashed into a house. the PiC died from her injuries after the low altitude ejection but the other pilot survived - and thankfully nobody was hurt in the house it crashed into! the old ejection seats from back then were awful.

When you are good you are good. Flying a fast jet on finals manoeuvring and spacial awareness of that calibre is skills of the ultimate level. Let's face it the RAF still give this job to the few.
@@coningsbylive - most have been uneventful. I did have one that occurred exactly at V1 and ultimately led to me shutting down the engine and returning to land. It was in a Saab 340 which is meant to have a bird catcher within the engine duct, but I suspect several birds went in and one of them bypassed the bird catcher and entered the engine and bent a few compressor blades.
I ❤ the Typhoon. This was some excellent flying. Double bird strike the way he/she got out of it was truly amazing. It’s like those stupid birds were trying to attack him/her. Crazy. 🤣

I bird would cause big issues esp if it hit when he is attempting to land. Look at the red arrow that had a bird smash into its canopy. Really is a big issue

There is 2 birds, and this happens on the 2nd Typhoon, not the first. Your need to watch it on PC or TV as phone screen will probably be to small. But as the 2nd typhoon does it circuit, you can make out 2 birds flying from right to left. As the typhoon lines up, the bird left moves into the typhoons flight path, the typhoon make a avoidance action but then sees the 2nd bird. I can redit the video etc, but as this has already gotten to many views, i didnt think it was correct. This was in the early days of the channel, and i can do a bit more with editing now

@@coningsbylive Yeah, this is the classic mistake of losing an engine (possibly) on short final and executing the bold face: THROTTLE(S) - MAX, etc. The proper thing to do is THINK. Dont take a bad jet around so you can get in a safe position to land, when you are starting off in a safe position to land. Take the bird strike without abrupt maneuvers and land. I grade this decision Unsat. Lots of drama, none required.
