    It’s best to get a hellcat engine from the insurance salvage yard. After the car has been reported stolen and totaled or buy a brand new engine but you need a paper trail!

    Let me shed a little light on this situation. The cops never had to look at the engine to determine that engine was stolen. All they had to do was plug up a good OBD2 scan tool to the car and check the VIN that was displayed on the PCM. Which didnt match the VIN on the car. You CANNOT just swap a Hellcat engine into a 300 by simply removing the 300 engine and dropping in the Hellcat engine. You need an entire Hellcat car to do the swap. You need the entire body wire harness, engine wire harness, front and rear subframes/suspension, modules, engine/transmission, instrument cluster, rear differential, dashboard, steering column, air bags and seats from the Hellcat to make the car run and drive. You are basically reshelling the car. You have to be a very skilled mechanic to do this. Ive done 3 of these conversions. I believe that the young man bought the car as is and didn't know the full consequences of what he was stepping into. Then he compounded the problem by driving wreckless and causing an accident that killed these girls. RIP to them. I hate the fact that this happened. One thing that bothered me is why are 2 Rockland County teenage girls joy riding around in the South Bronx on a school night 1.5 -2 hours from home with a grown man at 3-4am??? Where were the parents at in all this???

    • @Cool_kid_jones
      @Cool_kid_jones 4 месяца назад

      That’s not how that works pal, when you do a hellcat swap you swap ecu’s too, so the obd2 not gone read it as a chrysler anyways people who chop cars kno this already, so the ecu probably came from ebay with a clean vin, engines usually has 2-3 vins on them in the oddest places the police most def had a mechanic check the vins on the engine

    • @daltonhanleyjr4142
      @daltonhanleyjr4142 4 месяца назад +2

      @Cool_kid_jones I said the car will not be read with a Chrysler VIN. What I'm telling you guys is that it's not as simple as replacing the ecu and just loading a clean VIN in the car. What about the BCM, TCU, WCM, RFM??? They all have vin info coded in them that you can't remove. Chop shops are not replacing all those modules.The car is a rolling computer network. When you turn the key to start the car, the network is activated. It does a self check and all the modules in the network have to identify themselves.If one comes up with wrong VIN code/IP address, the car will not start. Also, the people that buy these shady swapped 300' s know the deal. They also know that there are only certain people they can go to for repairs. And they don't care if the swap is stolen. Here is another funny thing once that car in this accident goes to the salvage auction, in order to sell the wrecked car. The auction ( Adessa, Copart, Iaai) will process the paper work to clear the stolen vin associated with the swap as recovered. So the buyer can sell the swap drive train as clean or get a salvage rebuilt title if the car gets fixed. Lastly, those engines don't get stamped anymore. There is a VIN plate on them and 2 bar code stickers. That you can cut and peel off, THAT'S IT.

    Also, when doing engine swaps, one needs to consider the braking system were designed for a lighter weight engine producing far less power to stop, suspension needs to be upgraded, in addition the tires. Many do swaps without making these upgrades therefore causing it to be very dangerous because everything was setup for under 400hp and not over 700+hp!

      The vin is electronically coded into the ECM/PCM (the engines computer).. You can't hide that.. The only way would be to run a stand alone ecu, in which you would have no gauges, and no working body control module, like the windows, power locks, cruise, lights.. the list goes on.. Thieves aren't as smart as they think.. Neither are the people who buy an engine at half price knowing its stolen, yet they feel as if its ok as long as they don't or check.. Auto zone can tell you the vin with their cheap scanners.. Its easy to find out..

    Insurance companies aren't stupid. THEY KNOW that these high powered engines can be swapped. That's why they SPECIFICALLY ask have you any mods that increase the power of the vehicle beyond "something %".
    The insurance company IS NOT going to cover a car with mods they don't know about. They can refuse to cover beyond the engine that is paired to that VIN, OR they can cancel your policy altogether.

    Another factor is that if the car has been insured you better believe an insurance assessor is going to check the engine VIN too. Insurance companies never want to pay out if they can avoid it. Stolen engine? No pay.

    Excellent Video!!! All facts and so true. Many cops own these cars too, I got 3 (new 392 300C, Charger RT & Redeye) and other non-Mopar toys including a Yamaha R1, and lots of us can spot a stolen car or some other bullshit from 2 miles away! Here in MD (and I’m sure other states do the same) When cars get into serious wrecks resulting in loss of life or serious injury from dumb shit we impound them and they go straight to either a county CID garage or MSP (Maryland State Police) CID garage and the cars get picked apart for an in depth inspection and investigation and the first thing getting pulled is that computer (ECU) and it’ll tell you everything from speed @ impact, brake usage even down to seatbelt usage. A ECU from a Hellcat, SP or any other swap job will definitely show up when you start pulling data and it’s painstakingly obvious. I plan to someday swap my 300 to a Hellcat or Redeye, or even a Hellephant after it’s paid off and the original 392 goes bad. Best way is to legally buy a whole car from Copart and have a whole car at your disposal (or what’s left of it). I’m not even a detective or special investigator or anything, just a regular patrol supervisor and FTO and I deal mostly with stolen KIAs and Hyundais every single day🤦🏾‍♂️

    You made the point I was about to make - not all people that have "stolen" engines know that their engine is stolen. Furthermore, there's no way for them to see if the motor is in fact stolen if you need a special tool to read the vin on the motor. Maybe you're referring to the computer that the motor needs, but at that point, maybe the computer was stolen, but the motor wasn't. You can't even buy an engine out of a salvage yard at this point, because it might be a stolen engine itself.

    Even if the cops don't catch the swap, good luck with a smog.. or if the insurance company sends out an investigator. They really are losing a lot of money nowadays, looking for any reason to deny claims. They are catching on to all these swaps, along with the cops. You'll just end up with worthless insurance that you paid for, denied claim. I know a guy who obtained a hellcat engine from Instagram.. put it in a regular Dodge Charger. He ran into trouble when the insurance refused to pay out for all the damage he caused in an accident. Now he's filing BK, has no car. He does have the motor in his garage, though, on a stand. Car totaled. Oh.. and best case you'll get reimbursed for the value of the stock car if it gets stolen... you will not be paid out for the loss of your hellcat engine. That's gone. 😂🤦🤦🤦🙄🤷 A lot of clowns on here have no business driving a Redeye, Hellcat or Demon. .. I'm glad when these goofs get arrested for their stolen Hellcat engine swaps. Yall need to stick to the V6 you can afford, stop the scamming. And it's mostly a certain type of individual driving these Cargers and Challengers.. gold teeth and chains, no legal source of income that matches the cost of that car. I upgraded to a Mercedes G Class last year

    Lastly one of the accident I worked was a charger with a stolen motor running from me and my buddy she left us and we kept going. Waiting for county or state up ahead we kept going once we got through the s curve. The charger was in the middle of the road, it lost control hit a truck occupied 2 times husband and wife on their way back home to Mississippi. Well the truck caught fire and they both died, the suspect in the challenger had to be flown the regional one in Memphis. He hit the truck so hard the motor was 20 feet away from the vehicle
