Professional tip from an actual chef. Instead of using water to reconstitute the dehydrated mashed potatoes, you can use milk instead. Makes them creamier and makes them taste even better.
A version of Shepard's Pie its one my favs too , never used crockpot so much time saving this way. I also only use can cream corn and can regular corn drained. But yours looks wonderful
Try taco seasoning instead, or plus the gravy mix. Add sour cream and butter to the potatoe and maybe a small can of chopped green chilies for a little spice.
I use milk and butter with my water on the stove and turn it down on real low and cook ln the and slowly cook the instant potato 's and stir them in you can then add more butter and you can't tell the difference I have to make them that way to get my youngest to eat them
I thought this looked so good I decided to cook the same thing. I have it cooking in my slow cooker right now. My Jiffy Honey cornbread just came out of the oven (my first time ever baking cornbread in my life). I have always wanted to learn how to cook. These instructional cooking videos on RUclips are great I am learning so much. Don't get me wrong I am still in the very beginning stages of cooking and learning the basics, but I am having so much fun learning how to cook.
WoW you have a lot of critical fault-finders in your comments I think your quick, easy and inexpensive meals are Great 👍 And if you have something I or my family doesn’t like I’m sure I can figure out my substitutions P. S. I have used Campbell Soup as an easy additive in recipes since the 1960s and nobody’s died from it yet ❤
I really liked how firm your meal came out of the crockpot. I might like to try beating an egg into the mashed potatoes and add some pats of butter on top of the potatoes before cooking. Am anxious to try your recipe. Thank you for posting it.
Okay you didn't say nothing about dragging the grease from the hamburger and you didn't say nothing about draining the water out of the can with the corn
Need to season that meat too. Salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. I love how your meals turn out in the crockpot. AND I’ve had instant potatoes and couldn’t tell. I’m glad you seasoned the potatoes. Good job.
They were interchangeable to begin with. Many of us make Shepard's Pie with browned ground turkey, corn and mashed potatoes. Meat first, in a casserole dish, then corn, then mashed potatoes. Then add some cheese, brown toasty and bubbly. It will be called Shepard Pie, irregardless of the meat or veges added. So leave all that cottage stuff out of the conversation. We don't cook with lamb - its not part of our culture and if it's available its way more expensive than beef or turkey.
Paul my aunt used to use those instant potatoes all the time you just add some sour cream in the potatoes makes them taste just like every body will think they are potatoes you took the skins off boiled and cooked not from a packet
I've never put in raw hamburger in the crockpot and I don't think that I would since my hamburger has more fat than hamburger others buy. Looks really good
With his voice I thought he's 60yrs old man with bald head 😂 who loves pot pie...then showed his face, he looks like one of the celebrities..sorry I didn't even see their RUclips Avi, beautiful couple. I was just searching for recipes came across this channel 🙌
I doubt he drained it because he used lean (90/10) ground beef. If using something with more fat, definitely remove the excess fat. Paper towels would be an easy way to soak up the fat right in the crockpot.

Can u use dried onion soup in stead of gravy mix?
Kochen aus Tüten, was für eine Leistung 😂😂😂
Thanks for the tip. I’m gonna try milk next time I make the instant potatoes. 😊
I love crockpot cooking!! 😋👍🏻🥘
Fun fact-it’s a Cottage Pie because you used ground beef. Shepherd’s Pie has ground lamb. 😉
I’m going to make this but instead of brown gravy mix, I’m using onion mushroom soup mix instead.
Instead of using water to make the mashed potatoes use chicken stock much much better flavor
Season up those mashed taters...stock milk butter salt pepper garlic❤❤❤❤
Thix looks...will try❤❤❤❤
I add half cup evaporated can milk to the water learned that from a chef
I do that first Thanksgiving potatoes.
Too much grease
Half & half with some butter
This is made with beef, so it's actually called a Cottage Pie. Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb or mutton. It looks delicious, either way.
It can be a knock off shepards pie.
I'm calling it mechanics pie. Grease off two pounds of ground beef. No thanks I'll brown mine first as usual.
Never heard of shepherds pie having lamb. Never seen a recipe calling for it either. You can use whatever meat you want anyway
@@missybuckingham7756 traditional Shepard's pie is lamb. The purists will point that out. It's not hard to find recipes that call for lamb.
@@missybuckingham7756 what does a shepherd do? A shepherd doesnt have a flock of cows does he? My god!!
As a single guy I love my Crock Pot & Foreman grill
Check out an air fryer. You’ll love it.
Single guy here that hates that stuff. You basically bought gadgets that do the same thing as a pan and pot. Doesn’t seem logical
Love these easy peasy meals! Sometimes ya don't feel like gettin all elaborate
I love his Southern Accent....he sounds like Forest Gump......life is like a box a chocolates.....ya never kniw what your going to get...😂😂😂😂

That has to be the prettiest spoon I have ever seen ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, I was thinking about that beautiful spoon as well. Wonder where it came from.
I have a spurtle like that, my friend got it at Winco for my birthday 😊
I saw at Ross another day! Almost got it, but I already have too many😬
Noticed the spoon right away! 👍🇺🇸

That's a whole other recipe. Not even close to being shepherd's pie.
I don’t know what I did wrong, but my shepherd’s pie was soupy. Maybe I should have drained the grease after cooking the beef?
Thank you for sharing! I needed an awesome crockpot recipe & can't wait to try this.tytytytyty🎉🎉🎉
Just found your channel. All your recipes are so easy & looks delicious. Thank you for these recipes. May God bless you and yours. N. C.
Even yummier, use milk instead of water for those potatoes.. 😋
Chix base, couple drops of van extract, garlic...
Exactly! More yummier & creamier!🧄😁💜
Looks delicious, thank you for this recipe
the only thing missing was some worcestershire
And rosemary.
@@163andyci love rosemary!
I also would add some worcestershire sauce as well.

Excellent meal. This is a keeper. John in Alberta. Thanks
I have to say.I didn't think this would come out good, but it actually looks delicious.Thank you
Absolutely LOVE this idea, especially in the warmer months, so no hot oven.. Thank you!
The picture on the thumbnail I thought you were pouring in m&ms at first 😂
I make mine with beef sausage on the bottom, then a layer of cabbage and then the potatoes. Juice from the sausage pulls it all together. Love it!
😋 Being Cajun, l use a little whiskey, the heat burns off the alcohol and the taste is whiskey delicious. Cajun eating good in coastal Mississippi 🎉
This is the first time that I've watched you that looks delicious I'm making it tomorrow

It looks great but, you used orange colored cheese!?
I really enjoy seeing men cook 👍👍
Dude sounds like ol boy off of moonshiners
My grandma made a similar meal with mashed potatoes and corn bread and smothered in gravy.

How lean was the ground beef? I wondered if you had to drain any fat off of it before adding the corn, etc.?
Looks scrumptious ! I would have to make my own fresh mash potatoes though... Thanks for sharing

He seasoned the meat. He used that nasty gravy packet as seasoning.
You can make this in under an hour in the oven. It's a basic shepherds pie with a lot of excess grease.
I just LOVE his accent.
This looks so good. I'll definitely try this.
What brand of overalls are those, and where do you buy them?

You didn’t say anything about draining the hamburger meat.
That was my same question , I don’t care for all that grease
He used 90/10 beef sirloin. There’s no grease to drain.
I was thinking that same thing..
You sound like you’re from the Deep South. Maybe Georgia? I’m from Tennessee. Great recipes!
I don't understand why you use canned corn but frozen peas and carrots.
Sir is your accent from New Orleans?
Paul my aunt used to use those instant potatoes all the time you just add some sour cream in the potatoes makes them taste just like every body will think they are potatoes you took the skins off boiled and cooked not from a packet
Watched this. Had all ingredients (bar carrots) cooking in my slo-cooker 10 minutes later!
That looks so yummy, I will be Making this. Thank you so much.
WOW!
A keeper. Thank you
try adding one pkg of onion soup mix with your gravy mix it’s more flavor. just once try it with a nice roast instead of ground beef it’s awesome
The salt and pepper needs to be over the vegetables
You’re kidding. Right?
Sweet lord, people even need their onions pre diced. Idiocracy for real is a documentary.
Looks delicious
You sound like your from Louisiana 😂 I think?? Right...??
Ding ding ding 🛎 I think we both r right ..😂
I use my Dutch oven ... sautee the meat & onions ... pre heat the gas oven to 350° ... ready in less than an hour....
That looks so good. 😋
My ma called it Economy Dish. Nuff Said
Your cottage pie looks delicious . I make mine with corn . But I've never used peas and carrots in it . Have to try it . Thanks for sharing .

Isn't there grease from the hamburger in the bottom? Wouldnt you want to drain that out? Other than that, this looks very good.
That's Art!!!!🎉😂❤

In instant potatoes I use canned milk and butter, not water they are excellent, and old grandma
Got to try this one
Do you drain the meat ?

For a second at the end i thought you were reciting a Dr. Suess poem.
Looks amazing
Did you pour the grease off the hamburger
I prefer ground up Pot Roast to Hamberger for Shepherd's Pie.
