pretty cool setup Matt! Ive lived in London for the past 14 years, rented various places, shared flats, studios and 1 beds. Now looking for another one but its even crazier with the housing crisis(whatever that is, for me its another name for ripping off poeple and making living less affordable). But to be honest i got inspired by your video that even a small studio like yours can work out!

Talking as a person who lives in Denmark that is very expensive for such a small apartment compared to what one can get in Danish cities. But its London innit! I think New York city is even worse or perhaps very similar with ridicolous sounding rents. Need to see what an average wage in London (after taxes) is to average rental price for a small apartment to really know if rents are just too high!!

Nice video mate✊🏽 how much would you have to earn to pay the bills you paying and be quite comfortable?
They say you shouldn’t put more than 20-30% of your income on your rent, but in London many people extend that up to nearly 50%.

This a very personal question but how much do you make a month? I'm thinking about renting my own studio apartment in Manchester for around £800 incl. bills/utilities but I'm on £2333 before tax...
Fluctuates! General rule of thumb is not to put over 20-25% of your post-tax salary on rent

used to live in a studio before and whenever I cooked the whole flat smelled like my dinner, you should spend 200-300 more and get yourself a 1 bed flat.
Luckily I got a super effective air purifier! Solves the problem

You’re lucky to find a place of your own. Many people have flat mates in London.
I’ve had flat mates for over 5 yrs living in London! Whilst it’s far more cost effective, I prefer to have my own space.
For someone as agile as you, that sleeping space works well, and it gives you more room for other furniture. You seem to have all of your basic needs covered, though being there during a Covid lockdown could become claustrophobic. You pay for the location, and if you don't entertain you don't need a whole lot of space. I'm surprised that I liked it as much as I did!

@@TheMattJames I've watched a number of tiny-apartment videos and I've observed that women need twice as much square footage because they clutter it up with decorative stuff. Guys can live in a flat this size because they have only the things that they need and use.

My parents have two houses they rent out for 1200 and 1300 both 4 bedroom houses. In zone 3 i always tell them to put the rent up but they dont want too =\

It’s more about where your priorities lie and how you balance your expenses. General rule of thumb is about 25%, but that varies everywhere!

BORRIS JOHNSON ruined Renting scheme by introducing (affordable rent) which is double the price of social rent. How do you manage to call something twice the price affordable. I call it (BORRIS RENT) so people relate better to it.
I rent a housing association 1 bed for £220 at newly created (affordable rent) a month but previous tenants paid £110 at (social rent). BORRIS doubled the price literally. BORRIS is after all the land lord class, what does he know about working class.
