*YES.* Victoria was the right bride. In personality, outlook, temperament, she is the better match for him-- even their names suggest that they are counterparts. Emily deserved SO much better than she ever got, but as she realizes: Victor is not hers. She could never have found true peace in someone else's stolen happiness.
To me, the movie was never about love or who Victor should be with. It was about a spirit finding peace, closure, and moving in from the past. She needed to be set free and marrying Victor wouldn’t have put her tethered spirit to rest. To me, the ending is the best way it could have gone.
Emily deserved so much better, sweet woman. But if anyone has the right to be upset, it would be Victoria too. She got her future husband taken, almost married a broke gold diggin murderer and got locked away and called crazy. Love both of them 😂💙
I just realized that Emily and the others are blue because she's still decaying, while the others are just bones because they've been dead for a long time.

While Emily and Victor did have chemistry, Victor did only chose Emily after he believed he couldn’t be with Victoria anymore. And Emily was pushing to be with him. I don’t think anyone should force another, and I don’t think Emily’s should be the 2nd choice. Victor and Victoria have their lives to figure things out while Emily doesn’t. Victor did not like Emily, he only agreed to marry her because Victoria married someone else and he felt bad for Emily. The only reason they have “chemistry” is because they’re with each other basically the whole movie. Victor never forgot about Victoria, he just gave up trying to get back to her after he got the message that she was getting married to someone else, he thought he'd lost his chance with her and decided to at least be there for Emily instead
To be honest, I shipped Victor with Emily all the way through the end mostly because he barely knew Victoria. That said, Victoria definitely didn't deserve to have the same faith as Emily and it's what would have happened if she married Lord Barkis and the ending makes sense in that regard, Emily just couldn't let what happened to her happen again.
also emily wouldnt really be at peace if she ended up married .It made more sense that she actually overcame her obsession w getting married and let it go
Because he spends so much more time with her in the movie, I think people forget: Victor only gets to know Emily for ONE DAY. He doesn't actually know her all that long, either. And yes, I think the chemistry with Victoria would be more evident if we got to see more of her, but then, it isn't really her story. Even so, the way she tries to rescue Victor or get him some help, and the way she stands up to Lord Barkis, telling him there isn't any money, is pretty amazing, IMO.
How would the town know Victor "ran off" with another woman? I think Barkis followed Victor into the woods too kill him and saw Emily about to kiss him. Probably didn't recognize her, maybe they were too far away so he didn't see the bride was a corpse, and he just assumed Victor chose her.

Emily is amazing, and deserves so much more than she ever got. But in personality, temperament, and outlook, Victoria is the better match. That they are counterparts is even suggested by their names. 19:37 -- Why? Because Emily deserves some happiness, and Victoria is no longer an option at this point, since she has now been married to someone else, so why not. 21:46 -- No, he hadn't forgotten her, he just had no idea she was there. Plus, as I said-- she's someone else's wife now, so... I mean, OF COURSE he gave up.
The reason why the world of the dead is colorful compare to the gray world of the living is because the dead have no worries, nothing to weight them down
I swear victor is weak bro, he never once tells the truth to either of these girls, he leads them both on because he doesnt have a spine and then in the end Emily is brave enough to make the right decision, he never has to decide for himself. Still, I love this movie
He is prepared to follow through, though, and keep his promise to Emily for the sake of all she has suffered. And I believe he allows her [Emily] to stop him because he knows in his heart that she is right- although it has to be her choice to let him go. And I don't really feel he leads either of them on. He tries to tell Emily it's all been a mistake, and she's not ready to hear it. He explains to Victoria that he wants to be with her, but that he has accidentally married someone else- who happens to be a corpse. And he agrees to commit to stay with Emily when he believes he is too late to have any hope of being with Victoria anymore-- meaning, there is nothing left for him to get back to in the land of the living, so he may as well at least try to bring Emily some happiness.

Emily got what she deserved, and that was being at peace. Victor couldn’t do that for her, cuz in the end she would “live” with the guilt of Victor killing himself just to be with her, & to make her happy/give her her happy ending & I’m pretty sure she knew that Victor only wanted to marry her because he felt there was nothing else to live for without Victoria. She realized it was selfish, and it would be a weight on her shoulders, & it wouldn’t bring her happiness. Victor cared about Emily, but he truly wasn’t in love with her, that wedding was his last resort for his life no longer being valuable without the woman he fell in love with at first sight. Emily deserved better than that, and Victoria deserved to be with the person she loved than to be trapped in an abusive relationship that would’ve ultimately killed her & given her the same fate as Emily.
