Chưa thấy năm nào mà chất lượng bài thi đạt top 100 nó tệ như năm nay. Những tác phẩm rank 133 và 134 và rất nhiều tác phẩm khác đẹp gấp 100 lần rank 100😌😌😌😌
I said the same thing lmao and to top it off they just put tall grass in the back to cover up the background, what were the judges thinking? It goes against all the grading criteria and point system in place. Its shameful those scapes are ranked above other amazing scapes.
@fishtiti I understand that but traditional iwagumi isn't set up for this kind of point system. Many grand masters have stated this in their classes and expressed that iwagumi is definitely not ideal for these contests due to the point system. I understand they're trying to tend to all scapes but in that case they should change the point system or it simple wouldn't make sense for this style scape. It's absurd to me that they rated those so high #14 and #15 is disrespectful to the people who actually followed the grading scale and criteria
@@wankate1985 i agree but unfortunately the 50 points for recreating the natural habitat of the fish seems to never care and show in the results as most of top 7 works are usually diorama, but this year it makes no senses at all since the winner is an diorama, then you have some ‘modern nature aquarium’ like the Josh Sim one which defo respect the point system and then you’ll find everything , including these iwagumi. It doesn’t make any sense anymore and I think that some people have put a lot of effort into their scape (like Steven Chong for example and a lot of others Chinese and Vietnamese people), and they are not even in the top 100…I think next year they’ll be even less participants with this kind of results.
nahh #15 and #14 straight violates the entire criteria of the contest. Very basic layouts rated THAT HIGH thats insane to me. Thats actually a scam right there
I want the best for the IAPLC and to see the competition flourish, but there need to be some changes. 1. The preliminary screening has consistently missed many great layouts and even worse has included many sub-par layouts. There needs to be more transparency and care taken in the preliminary screening, so this doesn’t happen. 2. The primary screening and the secondary screening are totally out of balance. It doesn’t matter how well you perform in the secondary screening, it only matters that you make it to the secondary screening. This means that the judges’ subjective preferences are more important than the judging criteria. It also isn’t fair that someone that ranks 11th could be awarded up to 101 points fewer than a layout the judge ranked 10th. A simple solution would be for all of the top 27 layouts are judged by all ten judges in the secondary screening. 3. The judging criteria are poorly written and cannot be understood by the contestants. This leads to a feeling of mystery when we look at the results and of how the judges come to their decisions. The criteria need to be rewritten so that contestants can easily understand what is being looked for in the IAPLC.
7 looks very similar to past years winners. This year...the top places all kinda looked very similar, which is kinda sad honestly. It seems most people are just doing the same method with slightly different choices
@@Goblin1986p I see your point. I would like to see a separate but equal prize category for strictly Iwagumi Aquariums. Minimalism is extremely difficult to do and no one did it better than Mr. Amano.
Or even a separate category for "art" type. I would love to see someone do a "natural" looking aquairum as a statement piece but put things like coke bottles, cans, and other plastic as decoration to show the level of pollution in some natural environments now. I think thats honestly the next step in this hobby is art statement pieces. @@davidhunternyc1
#14 and #15 were such a shame to see ranked that high. Extremely basic layouts and just tall grass to cover the background shows laziness. Shame they placed them so high when other scapes were so much more deserving.
Congratulations to all of the entries in 2023. Your layouts were breathtaking. I have an idea for 2024. How about if there was a separate but equal IAPLC contest for Iwagumi Aquariums? Minimalism is very difficult to do and no one expressed Iwagumi better than Mr. Takashi Amano. Let's create an Iwagumi category and honor Mr. Amano's spirit. The Iwagumi of Mr. Takashi Amano is still and always will be World Ranking #1 !!!
Number 4 is brilliant but I could see how the red leaves on the carpeted foreground could be a bit too clustered and jarring. Perhaps the floating water lilies is enough? I do admire the risk taking and the overt red color.
Despite the settings of my computer, the quality of my internet connection, and even trying to connect from different locations, including other countries, the iaplc official website is ridiculously slow. I guess they couldn't find people in Japan to code a proper website.

what are the judges criterias? I mean, i'm not able to find any nature photographs of rivers, lakes and ponds etc etc where it looks like this :O So what are the Criterias exactly? :o
I still can't believe it. Worldranking 11 is just mindblowing. So many other great works. I love this hobby so much! Congratulations to everybody for their incredible dedication and great works.

#15 and #14 don't deserve to be there in my opinion. Beautiful acapes but with the point system in place it makes no sense

Classic Ada style iwagumi, they need to put some in the top 100…do not forget this contest is commercial after all.
