- GPRSHO got a tune, now lets see how fast it is! This is a must see if you have been following along with this build. Seeing if we can get some more speed out of this mighty beast! It is the gpr-sho build. Will be testing a new. GPR refers to gp800r gp1200r and gp1300r. The gpr in this video is a 1.8L supercharged Yamaha engine swapped gp1200r. It is the largest production pwc engine ever made in the Yamaha Waverunner gp1200r. Massive 1.8L supercharged Yamaha engine into an old gp1200r. Jetskibrothers GPR SHO engine swap conversion build.

I can't imagine how light that ski must feel vs the v8 ski
Thats a sweet project. Lean in over the handle bars when she starts to porpoise at high speed to settle it down.
My yellow 2005 with the larger pump ran 75 mph/GPS in the gulf of Mexico after filling all the gaps and bolt holes with filler. In 2000 I was the first to get back from a poker run out of FL with my 2000 ultra 150 with 3 50mm Buckshot carbs, high compression head and worked impeller. 71.1 mph/GPS.
This may seem weird since you can adjust your nozzle any direction you like but I see a lot of porpousing which may sound made up but in the old days they used very small trim tabs to keep the hull flat so it didn't bounce. It is separate from trimming the nozzle or out drive
I also think in this case rider ability not transferring body weight, the gp's use to do this a little .
@@ShawnFromFL That sounds like the best solution
seems like the ski has lots of bucking going on. it can be corrected by shimming the rideplate's highs on the rear bolts.
Did you buy that R&D ride plate? To stop that hopping try some 3mm thick washers under the trim tabs . It will go faster and handle better too . Regards Adam Troy
Will the grate fit a 98 xl1200? Cheers
@@MrMattytempzz No , totally different
Bugger, do you know any websites I could buy aftermarket performance parts for my 98 xl1200 or give me some advice on some mods? Every website only stocks stuff for the power valve engines :(
Worx racing may have a grate in Queensland Australia
You guys are such an inspiration to me and my channel!
Dang !!
You navigate those narrow channels at speed
Sweet build ,super quick
Love my Yamaha bikes
Gots to get me a ski too , Yamaha o course
Great video son
Another great build guys and another great vid.
That’s badass man. Such a clean build too. Super jealous!
Love it. What a beast. I've still got the original 2 Stroke in mine. She still pulls 118 km/h. 👍
She still pulls 118 km/h on the dream speedometer
That looks scary fast
Kinda funny, we have a ski we nicknamed ol' reliable as well. Except in our case it's a 96 SeaDoo XP. It just always fires up and runs.
Not the ski I would expect it to be, but that's awesome!
What happens to the 300 back flip build?
I've never seen a boat with an air filter. Is that stock? Usually we just have spark arrestors.
Air filters are common on newer forced induction applications. Natural aspiration will generally not need a filter. Hope this helped.
@@MK-qv7bq Yes, very interesting! I guess it might make sense when you're dealing with pressure and precision compressors.
Super nice 👍
Holy shit Batman, I’ve got enough grey hair already. I was watching it on my smart TV and it was as if I was there.
I love the river ride footage. It's awesome that you met your goal. (like you say, that probably means a new goal)
I know that it's a little different on a bigger ski, but for me speedometers should just go to 65 and then anything after that just say "stupid fast "
Seeing this footage both makes me want to build a fast ski, but also never go fast on a ski lol... I think you probably have abother mph or so if you were able to stop your life jacket from being a parachute or by putting a windshield off of a snowmobile on it haha.
Well I would say that on the smaller skis 65 probably feels about the same as 75 on the bigger Skis. And that life jacket oh man I was gonna say something about in the video because once I watch the footage house like dang it. Because of course I left my normal life jacket behind and I use that one and I’ll be fine and then I saw the footage I was like oh my gosh things a freaking parachute.
@@JetSkiBrothers Good to see you out there having fun and riding ... either way. Must have been nice for a change to jump on ol reliable and really only worry about trying to go fast, and not much else, haha.
Also, did you check the air intakes into the hull itself? Maybe that's limiting you...
It needs additional air intake through the storage compartment under the hood. i drilled 20 3/4 of an inch holes.
The factory racing gp1200r 2 stroke went just over 84 on radar back in the early 2000’s. Fastest ski of the time. Looks like you porpoise a lot near 80, did you put racing sponsons on it, or are they original equipped? Nice build. I sold my GP1200r to my brother-n-law when I moved, he still has it.
Actually i think It was a RIVA gp1200r 1290 bore size triple pipes about 260 hp with a top Sspeed of 84.7mph world record pwc speed at that time
Bonkers ! Would want to hit a wave at the wrong angle going that fast !
Wow, 80 is fast! I would highly recommend you do these sort of test speed runs with someone (at least trying to) following you. If you get thrown off at that speed, it can really mess you up, maybe even knock you out. I've gotten thrown at like 50 and it was rough. Force is exponential to velocity, so... yea. Don't want this channel to end prematurely ;)
Aww, don't say that. I've not long ago picked up a full stage 1 svho fzr and it scares the white knuckle bejusus out of me but, hey, at 58 I'm loving having something that gets the adrenalin going and the heart racing. As they say, it's all good fun till someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious 😂. When my time's up I'm planning on going out screaming.
@@tim0e I'm just saying, it would be good to at least have a spotter in those 80mph test runs. I lost steering in my boat on a test run, another time it died expectedly from a loose connection. Things happen on test runs, and when you're going 80, you can't really afford any errors.
@@hybridorbital85 Thanks for your reply. Thankfully I live and ride in a densely populated area so rescue (and hospital) isn't far away. I snapped the timing chain and was picked up by Marine Rescue within about 40 mins of calling them. My biggest concern is coming unstuck and hitting the "wet concrete" at WOT. My theory is, you're not really living unless there's a chance of dying 😆
Did you need a special custom made motor mount bracket to install that 1.8L. Looking to do the same project 👍🏻
Same question
Do you guys have any stand ups for sale?
Bigger intercooler will get you better numbers!!
Do you sell any of your builds
You should try to get it to 90 mph next gosl
Nice, go for a bigger supercharger wheel. Just a little bigger, try keep it reliable lol.
Whats up with robs surf ski?
Can I get this set up or a similar one ?
A tune on its own wont do much more than 3-4mph on its own because its only going to spin the supercharger 300-400rpms more. You really need to repitch the impeller and raise the rpms to get the most out of a tune. Also removing the air filter is always faster by atleast 1-2mph but you need to add fuel or its going to run lean and slow the ski down
That lifejacket it's acting like a parachute lol need a smaller size lol
How about making a 100 mph jetski? 😁😁😁😁😁💯💯💯💯💯💯
I smell a reliability competition to show who’s pwc his it? And is the mini boat gone or just hiding?
Hiding, he mentioned it the other day...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸🤠
I have a 06 , 1300r you guys can convert mine ?
More horsepower than my car🤭
Ride plate, intake grate, improvs impeller for build, true hull. You’ll see 85.
For sale?😏
Would a 2001 riva gp1200r kit work on a 98 1200?
No
More boost!!!
Would leave rxt300 behind for sure
so really the real ski engine is faster then the v8?
Should have your trim one down. Looks to be in "n".
Neutral trim provides the most thrust
@@michaelshafer2996 well trust is the same direction of thrust is a provider of speed IF you got a gpr/sho/rxp any engine in this hull one down is when you run your fastest speed. If you have on go out with a GPS and you will see.
Trim up.. get that hull out of the water for sped.
@@jamesgarvey8402 hey man I meant the trim tab( the handle I was speaking of) down one meaning nozzle point up not down just to clarify.
@@costasgeorgiou5015 I have a 2019gp, you will net better results if you set it up for neutral trim, when you trim up or down the jet interacts with the steering nozzle decreasing forward thrust
