Why Do Car People LOVE Imperfect Cars?

  • Having driven a solid amount of cars over the last few years, I always attach myself to those that are the least "perfect". Why is that?

To me, cars are like women... I KNOW GIVE ME A SEC!
You can search and search for 'the perfect one' but the best one often takes you by surprise, leaving you flabbergasted and shocked that the thing/person/vehicle you stumbled across, is the one you want to keep and hold on to for as long as humanly possible...
In this sense you're RCF is the perfect car for you (unless you specifically wanted it?), yes the Audi was/is an amazing car, but the RCF covers all the area's that you like, eg loud, sexy ass noise, a gentle cruiser when you want and a comfy car to drive.
I bloody love the second channel and I'm still waiting for those Go-Pro shots of you driving down country at full chat #winkyface
Keep up the good work and SAY HI TO MEADOW PLEASE!!

For non car guys watching this video and still kinda confused, I'll re-explain it in the easiest way possible, with some extras.
Imagine cars as homes (house, apartments, condos, etc.), some people like their homes to be imperfect, because they can make it "perfect" by making it their own, customize it to their liking. Cars work the same way, car guys will want to customize their car to their liking, somewhat of a personalized fun, you can say.

I have a manual Proton Iswara Aeroback 2000 (Malaysia spec). Well, its not mine but it's my dad's. He plans to sell it off because it has a lot of problems and he wants to get a new van. I told him not to sell it off but rather just give it to me and I'll repair. But the problem is we have 3 cars in each parking spaces so there's no more space if he lets me to keep the iswara. I *REALLY* love the Iswara just because it's an iconic Malaysian car and I had a lot of fun driving it. It may have been in a few minor accident which cause a few dents but still if my dad gave it to me, *100%* I will repair, fix, even restore the whole car if I had the money. Sorry if I wrote an 'essay', I just feel the need to express my thoughts when I saw the title of this vid.

My JDM Z32 is imperfect. It’s an automatic trans. It works, but it’s less fun. The cruise control was limited to 107kmh, and was remedied when I ripped the computer out to rearrange the resisters and resolder and reseal it all and not is limited to 89mph. Everything is in metric, and the turn radius is garbage since the 4-wheel steering was removed by the original owner. But I absolutely love the car. I want to change and fix so many things, but it is a real beauty and grabs attention being in the condition it’s in. Especially since the ones around town have been destroyed by kids ratting them out.

I wanted to make a video ‘Review after two years owning my RC-F’. I see I do not need to. Theo, you just described exactly the same I wanted to say. I agree about the fun and character. Initially I was missing four wheel drive, but after one year I appreciated having more fun with drifting machine. Still missing the manual gearbox, and the car is not practical on the narrow parking lots. But I do not plan to replace this car either. I have never seen another RC-F on the road and have been stopped literally at every border of Switzerland by customs officers - they wanted to see, they asked a lot of questions about the car.. The V8 and reliability are two perfect things about the car.

Basically in short , if your car has stuff you love and many that you hate , then you get out of it and look back at it after locking , then that means you love it no matter what
I owned a holden vz , it was a auto v6 rwd , 230 hp , basically a city sedan ... hehe only on paper , it didnt have a traction control which meant fun driving and drifting all day long , every time i parked it i used to stare at it as if it was a rolls in a poor neighbourhood .
That is how you know that you love your car , cheap on not , doesnt matter

    • @TaffPlays
      @TaffPlays 5 лет назад

I do 100% agree on you with that. Sure commodores or falcons can be boring cars to drive (since they are just city cars, unless they have v8's), but the imperfections make the car fun to drive and a new learning curve for the owner to fix or live with.

I dream of buying my ultimate dream car, the Infiniti Q60 for 2 years now. When I saw it for the first time as a concept back in 2016 I prayed for it to go into production and it did.
A couple of days ago I ordered the car for Assetto Corsa and cannot wait to drive it, even in that state.
Hopefully I'll be able to afford the real thing one day...
It's AWD for starters, it makes 500hp and has an amazing V6 in, which has bits from the R35.
In my opinion, the car is underappreciated, it deserves a whole lot more attention.
The only flaw I find in it is that it's an automatic but I got over it since all cars in the future will be that way.

What i really like about this video is that from what i have seen the car its self taught a life lesson to the driver and now as time went by the driver has built the bond with the car that not matter what faults it may have you still love it because it's unique and can be different from many other cars which gives the car its own charm. Presonally I'm not entierly a fan on the RCF but I respect the car for what it is. I love your videos dude keep up the great work.

It took me a while to get used to people staring at me when I first got my car, a Challenger. It’s a pretty common car in my town, but what sets mine apart is that it’s a Plum Crazy SRT8. So far I’ve only ever seen three other Plum Crazy Challengers, and only one of them was the SRT. Wouldn’t trade it for anything other than maybe another Plum Crazy Chally with a bigger engine

Every car is perfect in there own way Theo for example a Dodge Viper is perfect because it is loud and it wants to kill you but we all love it because of those things. So those "imperfections" are the things that describe a car those imperfections are the things that makes the cars personality and EVERY CAR IS UNIQUE AND PERFECT IN THERE OWN WAY. I have a 2010 Charger R/T.
Imperfect is what makes the car. Cheap interior and since it doesn't have the track group package it looks like a normal V6 Charger. It has some kinda crappy speakers and non-touchscreen head unit. People also say it handles like a boat. Also, it's fun driving in Canadian winters with a RWD V8.
But when you put your foot down and get to right around 4000-4500 rpm it fucking sings and the front lifts up. It feels weightless when you punch it. Also, despite what the car community says it handles decently and the seats are comfy as hell.
Does it feel cheap sometimes? Yeah. But I fucking love it and it's perfect for me.

I would say my perfectly imperfect car to me is the second generation Subaru Forester (2002-2008) because the design is from the late 90's (same as the first gen), its a family suv/wagon and the variety of models from something fairly slow non turbo model (which in my opinion doesn't feel slow at all, the 2.5L NA I am talking about, which is what my dad drives) to the ultimate STi variant with 261hp and 6 speed manual, which with a few small mods such as a small tune and an exhaust could get as fast as a Lamborghini Gallardo from that era, which is insane. The STi Forester is my dream car because its not perfect! As Vehicle Virgins quote in every 'X THINGS I HATE ABOUT X CAR" videos "No car is perfect" because its true. I don't need a supercar or a car that gets 10/10 in a review because I would like to experience the imperfections to see why it got a 1/10 or even a 9.99/10

    I own a Fiat Panda.
The clutch is rubbish, the gears don't go in half the time, the brakes are...there, it only has some sort of acceleration in first and second, but the way it almost rolls over if you take any bend a bit faster than you should is just too good.
Plus, I'm broke af and can't afford to buy anything new.

My perfectly imperfect car is my fiat. Sure it's tiny, unsafe, full of problems, bright yellow, slow.. but it's got a world of character and it's insane fun to drive, I can't not love it

Nothing is perfect in this world, so literally every single car ever made is imperfect. :P

I have a Corsa C no joke but for its purpose I guess it could be considered perfectly imperfect

To me there is no such thing as a perfect car but to me I would keep a car for a long time if it is quick and comfortable and your RCF is a good example
