I’m 26 years old now, but I remember when Disney used to make television movies like this. Most of them were actually pretty good and taught us life lessons. Why did they stop making them?
Because now all they care about is making money through whichever current social media influencer will get them more money and relevancy. They dont care about talent or giving hard working actors a chance. They just want to be mainstream.
They were close to being adults in this. Disney doesn't like having adult leads for their movies or shows. It doesn't go with their theme. Occasionally they will have an adult lead in a movie for their side company, ABC, such as "Snowglobe" with Christina Millian. ABC is owned by Disney.
