Thanks for the shout out. As things turned out we'd have had a better time on the canal near Worcester. I fact fun fact Dawn has an ancestor who was a bargeman on the River Severn at Worcester.
No bell on the canal 🤔…. Probably because you’ll have it to yourself all winter 🥶 Hope the bug has passed. Good luck with the 10k training. Telford is fast 💨
10 weeks to get your 10k down to 2 times your 5k seems quite reasonable. Not sure the boring speed loops near your house sound like the most fun so hopefully the floods stay away. I've got my first ever marathon on 24th Nov at Oulton Park.
Hopefully I can get a 5K time trial in at the next parkrun... Should give me a better idea! Oooh, a racing circuit marathon! How has training been going?
@@Mack.Tracks training has been a bit weird, as I did races at 5k then 10k, and have a half later this month, so not as many really long runs as a proper marathon plan 😬
Hey, YT algo served up your video - seems we're on similar trajectory - same 5k pb, and about to start a 10k pb block to mid December. I've just finished half marathon training having done Glasgow on Sunday. My 10k pb is 44:17 while going out at HM training speed. Feels like it's probably a bit lower on my current shape but I'm aiming for sub 41 at the end of this block. Interesting you're on a BP plan too - first ever marathon was off the back of the BP training plan - quite enjoyed it, but found I wasn't getting faster after 2nd / 3rd attempt. Going full Norwegian for my block, high aerobic training with minimal anaerobic and all easy in Z1 instead of Z2. It brought my HM time down 8 mins, so sticking with it. All the best, will be following along !
I've definitely seen a big benefit from Z1/Z2 over the previous year and, ultimately, it's what I'm happiest doing. This 10K training block will take me away from that, but I fancy experimenting a little... Congrats on your progression!
Thanks for this. Having just done the Chester on Sunday, I've been looking for a challenge before I start training for Manchester. Telford is local, so going to give 44mins a go. My PB is 47 so it might be a challenge. Might see you there!
@@Mack.Tracks Chester went well thanks. 3:55, so under 4hrs... 15 years after my first marathon. I'm pretty happy. Telford sounds promising and I'm a fan of the ParkRun there. A nice speed block before Marathon training will suit me well. Trying Garmin Coach for a change too 🤔
Haha, I appreciate the confidence! I felt pretty invincible during my sub-44 and got great energy from moving through the packs. Hopefully something I can emulate in December...

Ah, I’m gutted for Dawn. Hopefully she’s feeling better! Looking forward to hearing what’s next, when she’s ready, of course. ❤

Haha, no bell just yet!
Cheers!!

Ah, awesome! How did Chester go?
I've heard good things about Telford, though it sells out fast. Still room in the third wave, thankfully!

Ah, congrats on the 3:55!
Well, time to flip things on its head for 10K training, haha…
You did 44 in July and have been running 60k for a few weeks? I'll say it now: You'll easily smash that 42 goal in 10 weeks

@@Mack.Tracks you'll be fine, just keep heart rate under your threshold for the first 5k and then give it all you got
Excited to see how this plans out in the series, see you at the start line in December 🫡
Ah, awesome! It'll be good to catch you there!
