Joey Roukens: Out of Control (2010), for orchestra - excerpts

(Turn up volume.) Excerpts from the first performance of my orchestral piece 'Out of Control', by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by David Robertson. The first excerpt is the opening section (Slow and spacey), which sounds like a kind of "ambient Mahler". The second excerpt is from the fast, energetic part of the piece, in which pop-like rhythms (not unlike the ones found in electronic dance or house music) are combined with Stravinskian orchestral textures.
