If you know how to use your degree, Environmental Science can do anything. It has so many unique components and its up to you to actually specialize your degree with internships and work experience to show them what your interested and experienced in. As a sophomore I'll have an internship this summer with an Environmental consulting firm, and there I will get my hours of experience so that I can get right into the work force making a decent wage. And if you want to be a millionaire as an ENSC major, consider an MBA so that you can start your own Environmental firm (its difficult but I plan on doing it).
Thank you so much I am lucky to have this knowledge before my specialisation since I am among the people you mentioned (first year students in BSC environmental science) and I want to specialise in environmental management I am thankful to the education you are offering to the world God bless you as we are expecting more from you
Good information👌🏾👍🏾. I majored in Natural Science with a minor in Physics. I have been fortunate to work in Semiconductors, Pharmaceutical, and Wastewater. It definitely helps when transferring into different fields. It slows for a lot of versatility.
hey I'm doing PhD in Environmental Sciences. Many ppl including my uncle also told that it is a waste of time. But after joining PhD I feel my choice is right :)
I’ve also noticed that it gets better once you start doing your postgraduate qualification. I think it might be because it’s such a research intensive field
Do you mind tell us which institutions "specialise" on which Honours topics? I am currently studying at UWC and there is a deep focus on Groundwater and I am not interested in focusing on those projects in Honours, what would you advise?
Projects offered at institutions different on a yearly basis and depend on the academic staff and their expertise. I’d suggest going to university websites and seeing with research labs or professors they have in their departments. If you already have a topic at hand you can also propose it to a potential supervisor at your current school or a different one
I recently finished high school and i still have options to apply privately but i was offered a government sponsorship to study bachelor of environment science technology and management….based on your experience, do you I should take it?
Hey i am currently doing my final year in Environmental science and i honestly do not know what do for my honours. Do you know what are the qualifications for honours at Wits?
Hello 👋🏽 General requirements are an average of 65% in your final year. My advice, don’t stress too much about it. In the school of APES for Honours you have a couple of elective courses plus a research project. In my opinion the research project should be in an area you are most interested in within environmental sciences. For example, I am interested in conservation and I approached different professors and lecturers to find out what honours projects they are offering and talk about the chances of them being my supervisor. I found a supervisor who was offering a project up my alley and picked elective courses that kind of fit in with the project. I’m actually in the process of filming a video about my postgrad experience and some advice so please look out for that :)
You always speak about BSc eish hopeless for us doing BA in environmental management 😂 But which high demand jobs in BA in environmental and where will we work?
If you watch my video comparing BA and BSc Env. Management you will realise that there is very little difference between them. So my videos and advice apply to both disciplines.
Usually the jobs that require BSc environment also apply to BA graduates. As long as you meet all the other requirements, it shouldn’t matter too much whether you have a BA or BSc
That’s a bit tricky because they are different fields 🤔. It could be possible if you’re thinking of doing an MSc by dissertation and your research focus would have to somehow include the public health aspect (kind of like doing a double major in Health Sciences and Environmental Sciences). However, I would highly suggest you enquirer about this at your prospective university and with a potential supervisor

What degree were you going to study at a private institution?
If you were probably going to do the same qualification I’d say go for the sponsorship!
