The eternal city -- that glorious monument to power, culture, and learning... but the old wolf lies wounded by jackals, circled by vultures, worried to death by a thousand, tiny, faceless mouths brought low by your own arrogance. These are the death throes of Rome. The light of civilization dims and scatters (?). And if such precious time left to hide your women, for your children to cry. Even at the moment of your final defeat, you will take no comfort in oblivion -- for I am coming for you. I ride with a million warriors! I bring the end of days! I am the scourge of God! And I will watch your world... burn."

To all people complaining about Attila not looking ‘Asian’, do you realise that people don’t look completely different once you cross Europe/Asia borders right? There are Asian ethnic groups in central Asia that actually look like this, and you even have tribes like Scythians and Sarmatians who were white and inhabited large parts of Asia and left a print in the gene pool of central Asians
Or u could make total war temujin, or ghengis or khan. Have it follow the largest continuous empire in the world. Make it all of europe AND asia! New mechanics for asian factions, improved medieval 2 mechanics, tons of new units and cultures, much more diverse fights etc. How fucking awesome would that be???
I know right! here are some Ideas for Total War from asian history Total War: Khan / Mongol Total War: Dynasty Total War: Raja & Dewa Total War: Nusantara
The Romans themselves described him as having Mongoloid features. End of story. There's nothing about the Huns that's Indo-European in nature or origin, or whatever that means. History Channel had a nice feature on the Barbaric Hoards, and they talked about the recovered skulls of the Huns which clearly showed marked Mongoloid features: "The main source for information on Attila is Priscus, a historian who traveled with Maximin on an embassy from Theodosius II in 448. He describes the village the nomadic Huns had built and settled down in as the size of the great city with solid wooden walls. He described Attila himself as: "short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with gray; and he had a flat nose and a swarthy complexion, showing the evidences of his origin." Attila's physical appearance was most likely that of an Eastern Asianor more specifically a Mongol ethnicity, or perhaps a mixture of this type and the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. Indeed, he probably exhibited the characteristic Eastern Asian facial features, which Europeans were not used to seeing, and so they often described him in harsh terms."
Attila wasn't Mongolian or Turkish he was a fucking Hun. Hence the name. He was not Hungarian either, although ancient Hungarians were like a brother tribe originating from the same tribe. Huns and Hungarians following a similar but unclear and still debated path all across Asia staying in one place for longer/shorter durations and fighting and mixing with many cultures and peoples along the way. Nomadic stuff you know. He was a Hun with Hunnic national identity that's why he wanted to establish a country/empire for himself and his people. But he died too soon. And later that's what the Hungarians did with more or less success later. So stop claiming him for your own country because you are all wrong. :)
He's actually from the steeps Asia therefore Turkey in in Europe so your answer is un vailed Emre Dalkılıç stop claiming peoples heritage if you said it to him the day he'd probably slay your head completely!.
Emre Dalkılıç Yeah some tribes went there, and some went to the west, some went to the north, some went back where they came from, some just stayed, and they all merged with other people, not just Turks... After his death Attilas sons took over started fighting and then scattered all over the place

Arda The Great I am Aware that turks are nomadic tribes from central Asia. But Saying that the Huns are Turkish is like saying that the Spanish are Germanic just because the Suevi and the Visigoths lived there once.

Napolionachtig Ironic since people now say that rome 2 is currently best TW ever made after the recent patches. Just like every tw game, they all have bugs on release, after them being fixed game becomes awesome.
That's not what irony means. And example: I decimated the Carthaginian army and had them cornered in their last province, besieging it. Yet I wanted to keep it alive so I offer them a peace treaty, 180000 gold, but nope, refused. Because the game isn't broken and diplomacy is working as intended. And another thing, I had the game on very hard, yet hadn't lost a single battle. So either I'm a god or the game is broken to its very core. If the player can't lose then it's not even a game, but rather a shiny whack-an-AI.
Napolionachtig It's, since you are calling people stupid who doesn't agree with you even though your own view is kind of stupid. So that's why it's ironic. Your carthaginian thing doesn't prove anything. A.I already behaved like that in previous versions and if you were playing dlc campaign then that behavior is how they should behave. ooo you play on very hard and haven't lost any battle. Let me guess you play as rome or iceni`? Play as parthian on legendary and then come here and pretend that you are good. Bloody hell I have won in shogun 2 on legendary without losing any battle. Now get real.
Finally! I was waiting for one to put Attila on the forefront. What a badass. I'll admit, the trailer got me hyped, hope it has improved gameplay from Rome II
Darth Vader There's a mod called Lucifer Hawks' "GEM" graphics.... Just search GEM in the steam workshop search panel for Rome II and there u go... everything is like the siege of Carthage...
Augustus Caesar yea so um gem adds the huge city and scale shown in the pre realese?? Better textures devastation to city's in sieges better lighting sure....
Darth Vader It won't change the foundations of the game like the City size. However, I was talking about the feel.... The atmosphere, the dark feel of war. The amount of details on the soldiers AND the effects on smoke, lighting and some other stuff....
Finally a trailer worth some weight....... that sudden scene with the smashing of the clay light pot illuminating the army in the background is a convincing embodiment of the death of Rome.
People. The Huns were made up a significant numbers of Asian/Mongoloid. Yes, I am sure a few tribes within the Hunnic federation are more Caucasian. However, most of them are Mongoloid. This is based on the fact they came from the Asian Steppe. There were Roman accounts (by Priscus of Panium) of what the Hunnic people look like: "not a face, and pinholes rather than eyes"
Chemicalkinetics Modern-day Hungarians also have much Sarmatian and Uighur blood. The mongoloid elements would come from the Dzungar and Hunnish blood within them.
+Chemicalkinetics I doubt that Attila and the Huns looked Mongoloid at all!!! If they were mainly Mongoloid in appearance, than where are the many Mongolid descendants in Eastern-Europe? I suspect this!!! Istvan Bona estimated from skeletal remains from Hunnic graves in Hungary, that they were no more than 20-25% Mongoloid!!! The Xiongnu, who were the ancestors of Huns, conquered the northern Chinese areas-where many Chinese war captives and renegades went over to the Huns, thats why they became somewhat sinicized by the many Chinese they conquered!!! Xiongnu were similar appearance like the early Cimmerians and Scythians!!!
+Friedrich Kass "I doubt that Attila and the Huns looked Mongoloid" The limited description of Attila the Hun is East Asian like. You did read what I wrote, right? As for Hun in Hunnic graves, the Hun federation gradually get more European as they moved west. This is not too different than the Turks. The original Turks were from Asia. During the Muslim Conquest, the Turks started to migrate from east to west. As you can see, Today's Turkish people are very much white. Keep in mind too, the ancient accounts of the Huns by Europeans was that: these Hunnic people look funny and odd, but the Chinese accounts of the Huns (Xiongnu) never mentioned that they look strange and odd -- aside from they dress funny and have funny hairstyles....etc.
Chemicalkinetics He is supposedly Hungarian-Jew. He is here to troll and spread vile disinformation, because ironically, he believes in Third Reich-related propaganda.
+Chemicalkinetics Read Chinese account about the Xiongnu! They said that the elit of the Xiongnu, the original Huns looked Europid, were tall! Otto Maenchen-Helfen a German scientist, who wrote a book about the Huns, he write: In the conquered areas the Xiongnu ruled over hundreds of thousands peasants, Chinese war captives and countless renegades went over in large number to the Huns, who bacame in significant scale sinicized! Thats why some Huns who went to Europe look so Mongoloids, they were simply Chinese! The only Mongolids who lived in the Altay-Sayan region were Samoyedic speakers, but they were not the Huns or Xiongnu-the Chinese called them "Hunyu"! Nor were any trace of Samoyeds among the Xiongnu tribe, not a single Samoyedc words!! I have investigated with Huns history! Dont listen to Chernaya Zvezda, she is not even a Chuvash but Russian nationality who lives in Chuvashia! Yes, Im partially Jewish-my ancestors were those Khazars who converted to Judaism in 740AD, but we are assimilated by the Magyars, who take the leadership over the former Onogur-Bulgars, and form modern-day Hungary! Most of the Khazars are Hungarians today, many still follows the Jewish religion!
The hunnic race is most closely associated with the turkic and altaic races. They were not explicitly turkic or altaic but they are related, cousins after a fashion.
Make Me Intro They were describes as asiatic be priscus and ptolemy and ther practiced skull shaping, which in asia was practiced by the yuezi who lived in north china. Huns are also associated with the Xiongnu who were turkic
Make Me Intro Yeah the game is good, and the Charlemagne expansion is great, its about as close to medieval III we'll get anytime soon. I definitely recommend it if you liked medieval
Some facts about his origin: 1. His appearances described in many sources resemble current Mongolian people. 2. His father Modun and grandfather Tumen (at least this is what they are said in our history books) had clashes with ancient Chinese. 3. Chinggis Khaan (real name of Genghis Khan) quoted several times from Modun in his speeches. 4. Attila actually was exiled in his childhood after death of his father and formed his own tribes. 5. A lot of ancient Mongolian names are sophisticated and altered. Xiongnu - Hunnu (Хүннү-хүн- meaning "person" in Mongolian language)

This is still the best Total War Trailer out of all of them.
8 years . still gives me goosebumps
Great teaser, hope its NOT A TOTAL BROKEN MESS LIKE TOTAL WAR ROME
This is pretty much what Napoleon was to empire. They made a lot of mistakes and now they're just releasing what Rome 2 should have been.
*****
All TW games are broken for at least 6 months after release.
Rome 2 has been fixed, they're making a fresh start
It's Rome 2, btw, not Rome lol
It will probably include all the fixes for Rome 2, improved graphics and some features fans complained about getting cut, similar to how Napoleon was to Empire.
Roman diplomat coming to negotiate a trade deal.
Attila:
Attila and his Huns are coming.
Is this pretty much a remake of barbarian invasion?
barbarian invasion was an expansion, this a full game
ChristheBarker Shit! I thought this was also an expansion. I had hopes for the next Total War, now they are dust....
ChristheBarker As the other guy said, it's about as "full" as Napoleon was to Empire.
He wasnt barbar. He had a very bug empire.*****
ChristheBarker To me it felt like a full game.
Attila's English was spot on.
Attila: *I AM THE SCOURGE OF GOD*
Yrridian: Scourge of what now?
Attilla my great ancestor!
Thank you Attila for reminding us on the state of the modern west
This time the invaders come not from the East, but from the South. And traitors are letting them in by millions.
Attila was of Yeneseian descent. NATIVE AMERICANS have more of a claim to his memory than Turks.
xDDD
Arslan Bey Attila is Tamil
NO NO NO ATTİLA WAS A TÜRKİSH 😉 ( FUCK THE AMERİCA)👌👌
Do you have any idea about the Turkic scripts in Yenisey ?
Meanwhile, Aetius laughs at him.
"See you in the Catalaunic Fields". :-)
He waiting him at the gatea of Rome with the pope
Meanwhile, Alaric doesn't laugh, because he's still pissed about what the Romans did.
"See you in Rome."
It was the Visigoths who saved the battle
Meadow Brook
He was leading it.
And, most importantly, Attila was vanquished. :-)
Briseur De Lance He returned with another army. In that time, the pope was the saviour of Rome.
I know right!
here are some Ideas for Total War from asian history
Total War: Khan / Mongol
Total War: Dynasty
Total War: Raja & Dewa
Total War: Nusantara
Gengis; Total War will be awesome!
Gengis Khan Nah
The Romans themselves described him as having Mongoloid features. End of story. There's nothing about the Huns that's Indo-European in nature or origin, or whatever that means. History Channel had a nice feature on the Barbaric Hoards, and they talked about the recovered skulls of the Huns which clearly showed marked Mongoloid features:
"The main source for information on Attila is Priscus, a historian who traveled with Maximin on an embassy from Theodosius II in 448. He describes the village the nomadic Huns had built and settled down in as the size of the great city with solid wooden walls. He described Attila himself as:
"short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with gray; and he had a flat nose and a swarthy complexion, showing the evidences of his origin."
Attila's physical appearance was most likely that of an Eastern Asianor more specifically a Mongol ethnicity, or perhaps a mixture of this type and the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. Indeed, he probably exhibited the characteristic Eastern Asian facial features, which Europeans were not used to seeing, and so they often described him in harsh terms."
Croz Raven Total war Dysnasty will be awesome!
I wish Aurelian had lasted a few more years
So say's you Mr Hun; your own armies disbanded after your death, and built 'nothing.'
Huns = Turks. Learn some history people
Emre Dalkılıç
lolollol since when?? :D
After the Atilla's death some tribes went back to Asia and those tribes are Turks... Seriously just read about it some more
He's actually from the steeps Asia therefore Turkey in in Europe so your answer is un vailed Emre Dalkılıç stop claiming peoples heritage if you said it to him the day he'd probably slay your head completely!.
Emre Dalkılıç
Yeah some tribes went there, and some went to the west, some went to the north, some went back where they came from, some just stayed, and they all merged with other people, not just Turks... After his death Attilas sons took over started fighting and then scattered all over the place

200 year later ottomans comes.
This Atilla is X comments are pissing me off!
Atilla was not mongol (The Huns did not even reached so far East).
He was not Turk (the Huns *might* have turkick descent but he was born in the Western Roman Empire, modern day Hungary)
But, he wasnt Hungarian either (Because Hungary didnt even existed).
yeah funny thing is Turks dont have only Turkey as a country and Turks existed waaaaay before Turkey started existing. dafuq is ur logic?! Atilla = Turk and i dont have to prove anything because theres nothing to prove. he is one of us and thats it. its like saying napoleon isnt french like wtf
HunWolf Dafuq is YOUR Logic!?
Atilla is called "the Hun" not "the Turk".
Huns are a group of nomadic people from: guess what? - RUSSIA.
No matter how much you want, he was no Turk, he was no Arab, he was Hun, a culture from east of the Volga.
+Ricardo Santos Turks are not arab you dumbass.Turks are NOMADIC Hordes from CENTRAL ASIA and we came to Turkey's lands(Anatolia) from CENTRAL ASIA
Arda The Great I am Aware that turks are nomadic tribes from central Asia. But Saying that the Huns are Turkish is like saying that the Spanish are Germanic just because the Suevi and the Visigoths lived there once.
+Ricardo Santos He was turk, the huns were a konfederation who had alot of different people in it, like turkish, hungarian and mongols and so on.
I like how he purrs the word burn.

Attila is still a better game than the upcoming Total War: Pharaoh.
I already bought the pre sale!! Eager to play with the great king of the Huns and also to play with the Saxons!
Best trailer ever made my creative assembly
-The reason of Great Wall of China. (Mete)
-The government who begged Europe. (Atilla)
-The government who defeated 200.000 soldiers while it has only 50.000 soldiers. (Alparslan)
-The government who chased 500.000 crosade while it has only 2.000 people. (Kılıçarslan)
-The government who stand against China with 40 soldiers. (Kürşad)
-The government who drive the ships from the ground and start a new era. (Fatih)
-The government who took its government back while everyone says "Finished" (Atatürk)

I still have TW Barbarian Invasion, and I'm sure it plays better than what this next disaster will play.
Why do you say its gonna ? Rome 2 wasen't perfect, but WHO knows it could be good
66_greenrunner_77 Everyone with half a brain knows.
Napolionachtig
Ironic since people now say that rome 2 is currently best TW ever made after the recent patches.
Napolionachtig
It's, since you are calling people stupid who doesn't agree with you even though your own view is kind of stupid.
We need total war: Bumin Qaghan
So is this like Napoleon to Empire Total War?
its more like rome 2 re skin
Can't be worse than COD 4 till COD WW2
So Attila was an accelerationist?
The man who brought down mighty Roman empire.
I honestly thought this was one of the coolest total war games because it took a not so known time of history the fall of the Roman Empire
Ugh I'm still so disappointed in Rome 2 sucks because it's my favorite era. I hope this looks like the Rome 2 pre realese build.
***** meh its playable but the visuals and the size of the battles and other things still ain't there like pre e3 footage
Darth Vader Shitlord its good now
Finally a trailer worth some weight....... that sudden scene with the smashing of the clay light pot illuminating the army in the background is a convincing embodiment of the death of Rome.
ONE OF THE GREATEST TURKIC LEADERS IN HISTORY. TENGRİ TÜRKÜ KORUSUN!
Hyped for two months, attila will fuck shit up dovah boys, I can't wait... neither can he.
Neither can i tbh

People.
The Huns were made up a significant numbers of Asian/Mongoloid. Yes, I am sure a few tribes within the Hunnic federation are more Caucasian. However, most of them are Mongoloid. This is based on the fact they came from the Asian Steppe. There were Roman accounts (by Priscus of Panium) of what the Hunnic people look like:
"not a face, and pinholes rather than eyes"
This is the best trailer I've seen so far 👏 👌
He should have said "I will make your world burn." Almost perfect
The hunnic race is most closely associated with the turkic and altaic races. They were not explicitly turkic or altaic but they are related, cousins after a fashion.
Make Me Intro They were describes as asiatic be priscus and ptolemy and ther practiced skull shaping, which in asia was practiced by the yuezi who lived in north china. Huns are also associated with the Xiongnu who were turkic
Make Me Intro Yeah the game is good, and the Charlemagne expansion is great, its about as close to medieval III we'll get anytime soon. I definitely recommend it if you liked medieval
''the game is good'' someone likes autoresolve
Spartacus liked this :)

Some facts about his origin:
It's amazing how much biblical symbols are in attila with the four horsemen, one note in attila the east(persians) are represented as war but in biblical terms the romans represent war so yeah
Just gotta say, Attila was the real life Joker.
