    You won't believe what salvage yards are charging for Jaguar wheel nuts here in South Africa. I bought a spare set last year for my XFR and was charged 100 pounds for 20 of them... used.

    Got a set of those wheelnuts a couple of years ago (probably about the time you made this video) and fitted them to my X Type. Every single nut had at least some visible rust after the first winter. I think the chrome plating is probably quite low quality.
    My recently acquired XF S has a mix of genuine Jaguar nuts (with all the issues you described to varying degrees) and these "eBay specials". The eBay specials have lots of rust spots like the ones on my X Type but worse. However, more worryingly a few have been thoroughly bashed up by a tyre fitter's impact gun to the point that they got firmly wedged in my socket. I'm not confident the steel is as good as the Jaguar / Ford originals.
    Summary: neither OEM or after-market offer a good long-term solution.

    Definitely change the Jaguar locking nuts.
    Its them that fail more often.
    I have Mcgard on my XFR.Did that within a week of buying the car.The locknut failed on my Jaguar STR and it was a pain to get off.

    I done mine 3 weeks ago! When I had my calipers refurbish the guy advice me to same problem. 👍

    I would only use an impact gun to remove the nuts and not on replacement when tightening them up unless there is a torque setting, maybe I would spin them up lightly and then finish with a calibrated torque wrench set to the correct setting.

      Ford uses the same nuts. Considerably cheaper than Jaguar. Even the oil sump nut is exactly the same and way cheaper than the equivalent Jaguar part

    Thank's for sharing the link, just ordered some in now 👍🏼. I have a small question, i don't khow whether this is a common issue or not, yesterday i had the car on the ramp, and notice a small oil leak, coming from where the engine connect's to the gearbox, may be worn out seal's, due to the age of the car.

    • @69racer69
      @69racer69  3 года назад

      Probably a leaking crank seal. I have a small leak from the front crank seal that was noticed while it was up on the ramp. I don’t loose much oil so it’s not really an issue, a job for another time.
      How many miles has yours done or what age is it?
      How’s does yours feel after your remap?

    • @XFR937
      @XFR937 3 года назад +1

      My XFR is a 2009 model with 51,000 mile's on it. It's definitely the front crank seal, but will monitor it for now, and see how we get on, as long as it doesn't lose to much oil. After a remap the car definitely feel's much better, and definitely recommend it 👍🏼.

      I highly recommend getting some waxoyl treatment done, i had it done a few year's back, the car look's brand new again. It will really help, due to the age of these car's, keep them going strong.

    good video, I had an issue once where I got a flat tire and it was a complete pain to get one of these nuts out, the original tool does not have enough depth, nor it can make enough torque to get the nuts out. Unfortunately the nuts in the link do not ship to Chile. I was looking at other sets on ebay, but the shipping is a complete pain. I can however, buy these same nuts made here, so I shall be going that way. Right after I finish replacing my rear parking sensor wire loom xD, work never ends with this big cat!

    • @69racer69
      @69racer69  3 года назад

      It must be a pain getting parts in Chile? How old is your car? I do feel there are a lot of little things to keep on top of, but I haven’t had any massive problems to date luckily.

    • @alejandrobarrientos7707
      @alejandrobarrientos7707 3 года назад +1

      @@69racer69 its a red 2013 xfr, just like the one in your dyno videos. it's super expensive to get parts here, so I don't even bother asking the dealership and buy all from ebay myself. with the global shipping program I can get the stuff here in about a week, so I'm happy with that. By watching your videos, I've done some of the same things, like changing the oil myself. I also got the carbon fibre paddle shifters, but I haven't installed them yet. I looked at the viezu powerup packs. It's pretty tempting, but salty. I think I should spend in other consumables like brake pads and rotors.
      Cheers mate, keep the good stuff coming!

      @@alejandrobarrientos7707 that’s a beautiful colour on the XFR, very nice indeed 😁👍🏻
      Oh that’s great you have been saving money and doing stuff yourself, there is really no need to pay main dealer prices. A good place to try to get parts is www.britishparts.co.uk or www.justjagsuk.com
      Not sure if they ship worldwide or not, but they are so much cheaper and great quality party, a lot of them are genuine Jaguar parts too.
      Yeah I agree, get all the things you need doing done first and then go for the tune up 😁👍🏻
