- Join us as we visit Bled - one of the most picturesque spots in Slovenia.
Lying along the glacial Lake Bled and surrounded by the foothills of the Julian Alps, the town of Bled is an absolutely stunning Slovenian resort town. The lake has all of the ingredients for a perfect getaway including an 11th-century medieval castle, Blejski Grad, perched high on a precipice above the town.
We arrived to Bled from Ljubljana and stayed at a Home Exchange in the nearby village of Bohinjska Bistrica for the first few nights. Bohinjska Bistrica is located near the border of Italy, Austria and Slovenia is home to Lake Bohinj - the largest lake in the country. There is a postcard-worthy church and bell tower, at the head of the lake beside a beautiful stone bridge, dating back at least 700 years! In the area there are also numerous waterfalls and Triglav National Park, the gateway to the highest mountain in the country Mount Triglav at 2864m.
As we explored the region, it felt like we were in a miniature Switzerland surrounded by beautiful mountains, chalets overflowing with flowers, water fountains and more - at a quarter of the cost!
During our time in Bled, we stayed at a beautiful hotel in town called Penzion Berc. Here we also had an amazing dinner at their onsite restaurant called Finefood Berg. www.penzion-berc.si/en/
Bled is the perfect sized town to explore on foot or by bike and there is a beautiful walkway around the entire lake. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Grajska Plaza as we walked along the lakeside walkway. www.grajska-plaza.com/ It had outdoor pools on the lake with water slides going right into the water!
We also discovered that we could take electronic bikes to visit the lake. It was the most fun and fastest way to take a tour. We absolutely loved the peace and quiet as no motor boats are allowed on the water. Along the lake we discovered a hotel named Vila Bled that was once the residence of Tito, the leader of Yugoslavia.
In the middle of the lake there is an enchanting island to visit. Atop this small island is the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria and some really good ice cream :-) We took a boat ourselves and had a small picnic in the middle of the lake.
We also visited the Bled Castle which has a tremendous view of the lake from the up above. The castle houses a museum, chapel and printing press!
Straza Bled was next on our list of places to visit in Bled and we are so glad we didn't miss it. Here we enjoyed an epic mountain coaster ride and later had a great meal at the Vegan Kitchen Restaurant. public-vegan-kitchen-bled.bus...
Bled has many other outdoor attractions, including hiking trails, secluded swimming spots and in the winter, skiing and skating. We visited off season in October, which was a great time to discover the town with nice weather and less tourists.

hello i'm from slovenia bled it's very nice you were lucky because in the summer there are so many tourists that the government told us that the locals don't go to see the lake bled and if we wanted to see more slovenia we would have to go to the coast and where 1 world war was fought 4 bombs were dropped on each square meter in just one day

Slovenia is the richest and the cleanest republic of former Yugoslavia.
Very simmilar to neigborough Austria.
As you can see, everything looks like Austria and Switzerland but with Balcan smell, spiced with Balcan.
One part, western, is simmilar to italy.
Slovenian sea coast, towns Nova Gorica(famous by casinos), Portoroz...
Slovenians are Slavic people, the same as other yugoslavian nations: Serbs, Croats, Macedonians,...
But, they are NOT south Slavs as we are, Serbs, Croats,..., they are western Slavs as Czech people, Slovaks and Poles.
During history Hungarians divided western Slavs, from one side is Slovenians, from other Czech people, Slovaks and Poles.
Actually Slovenians are genetically closer to western Slavs than any other South Slavs. With some German influence as a result being part of German kingdom's for over a thousand years. Lana Scuka is, a typical looking Slovenian girl. Very fair complexion:

Wonderful video. i took a few tips where to stay now when in lake bled😊. Can you please tell how many days would be enough for a trip to Slovenia or how many days you stayed in Slovenia? Did you also visit Postojna cave and Predjama Castle, the Julian alps and Vrisic pass?

Just returned from Slovenia. We had a nice stay at Penzione Berc and walked the shore of Bled as the sun set. Lots of bats were flying just above the water at the shore. Interestingly my wife rode the same sled, #25, at Straza Bled as Chloe. Cheers from Boston.

I really miss the busy streets and the people eating and socializing outside..even more now when Christmas is approaching and everything is decorated. Soooo many xmas lights and trees all around Ljubljana for no one to appreciate and enjoy :(

Lol, referring to American bread as "traditional" is funny. The bread you were having there was traditional. This is normal bread in Europe. Not the dry white bread you get in North America. Real bread is so good.
If you decide to visit Serbia, not need PCR test so far, i hope it will continue.
Serbia is diferent from Slovenia, different from almost whole Europe as part of Balcan region.
Slovenia is part of Balcan region as part of former Yugoslavia but geographicaly is not.
We are bridge between west and oriental world but different from both, i mean on Balcan countries and Serbia in the midle of Balcan.
Do not expect swiss and slovenian perfection and sterile streets and perfectly colored buildings but expect bunch of fancy restaurants, bars, kafanas, clubs,...
Serbia is proclamed as food destination no1, digital nomad voted and the best place for night fun.
Mostly because of bunch of night clubs and as very cheap country.
