one thing i notice in these older photographers, i feel they really loved what they did. It wasn't business or about money. It was about art. Its like they could of picked up a canvas and brush but instead wanted to do it with a camera. Love this.
It was also about surviving. Read their biographies well, they took up photography to pay bills or sth or studied with someone. But one thing is they were inspired to create originality and with depth
Wow. What a pleasure to watch a video showing photography at its highest level without even noticing the advertisement. "We turn them on and they work." Inspiring video. OK, now back to regular, common videos of Canon vs. Nikon vs. Sony vs. mirrorless vs. DSLR vs. natural light only vs. flash vs. bla bla this vs. bla bla that.
This is so well made it looks easy, Photographer comes in, team does work, dancer dances, powerful power packs and strobes, a shitload of flags and voilà.
Superb video Profoto! Watching a Master at work...priceless. His work has always been inspirational and continues to be. The respect and interaction he showed with his team and model allowed us an insight to the most important reasons, beyond the technical aspects, how he is able to create such outstanding captures. Video coverage of the shoot was great. Seeing lights in actual use, not just quick, flashy cuts and showing us the live Capture One previews was like being on set. Thank you Profoto!
This is great - I've been watching sections of this again and again, trying to figure out how he's using his lights and flags, to get the "mystery atmosphere" in the portrait shots here.
I like the way Steven Meisel directs an entire group of fashion models. It's difficult to direct so many subjects and get them to emote. Dancers and Actors are easier to photograph because they naturally know how to emote.
Amazing ! Im also a dance photographer here in las vegas primarily outdoors but slowly getting more into studio work , this was very inspiring thank you .
It's like watching an illusionist. You can watch Albert Watson shoot the photograph right in front of you, and it doesn't mean that you can do it too. Don't even try. Watch the video, marvel at Watson's amazing beauty, and walk away. Get the Profotos - they are the best - and find your own groove, do your own thing, and shoot shoot shoot.
Fantastic video! It seems like he was using a large number of strobes for each photo, and I wish that Profoto would show us where they are positioned and how they are being utilized in the scenes.
the jumping into the fabric was an excellent idea Although it could have been done just as effectively and easier if he would've draped the fabric over him and then had him jump. Even if there was a worry about the fabric falling off as he got ready to jump, small piece of tape would've solved that.
great video, but did anyone notice the 'air' trigger on the phase One XF?, hint: HE doesn't need it, there is a Profoto air transmitter inside the xf body, just fingerswipe R->L until the tool comes up, and activate the transiver, DONE!!
It is so sad now, two years after this video that Sergei has sabotaged his career so thoroughly that no dance company wants him. A beautiful and very captivating vid with Albert tho....
When you have a team of the best talents and such great subjects then 90% of the work is done. It really isn't that difficult to make good photos with that. Any photographer with some talent could make good shots here.

Well said.
He is beyond money now! He dont need think in term of money

@@lourdesgyan Albert in many interviews has talked about being obsessed, there is something in it.
By far the best video Profoto has ever released. Incredible.

This is one of the greatest videos I've seen on photography.
Love this video! Albert Watson and Irving Penn are my favourite photographers.

Broncolor packs are better!
Notice he doesn't even explain the lighting setup lol
Sure he does, with a brief description (2:00) and his actions. Watch again. He'd need hours to explain it in detail, but this should give you an idea.
А потом он зетнулся, поддержал войну и крыша у паренька поехала совсем
Albert Watson is an extremely overrated, mediocre photographer!
@Terme Bergamo, You are an idiot. A total f-ing idiot. Too stupid for words.
Wow!
wow
