Bryten, I also received a Cartier ring that tested positive for gold. You can check if the serial number is one of the faked ones online. Mine did not have a serial number that matched the fakes, so it will have to be professionally authenticated. Great box, though! Happy Holidays! ❤❤

I have a Cartier Love ring. I can tell you that a Cartier signature is very deeply engraved into the gold. You have an 18k Gold ring, It could also be a heavily plated one. But is it a Cartier? It is all in the signature. The engraving will be Deep, in a true Cartier. Also there will be a series of numbers that determine the place where it was made. I have seen the fakes. The engraving is shallow on the fake ones. Look for the metal to be absolutely smoothe, with no bumps at all even with the strongest loupe.

I hate to say this but I had that ring in a box earlier this year. I was so excited too, then I took it to a jeweler who said it was plated. I didn't believe him though, I had my son take me over to a place where I sell my scrap gold and silver. They have one of those x-ray testers. And that guy told me it was a good fake that is coming out of China:-( I would suggest you take it to either a Cartier's if you have one near you, if not then someone who's opinion you trust in the business. Also Dr. Lori has covered those in a video too I think. China is the counterfeit capital of the world, I watched a documentary on it not too long ago. Ebay, Poshmark, etc are flooded with them:-( Still though, I think it was a great box! Any box with gold in it is a stellar box IMHO:-)
