    I've had a vortex for months because it makes the best wings but hadn't thought of using it for kabobs. Your modified skewers are perfect for using with the vortex. I will be trying these kabobs tonight. Thanks, new sub.👍

    Once again, I’ll put in my two cents... when you’re cooking indirect like this, don’t be afraid of the fresh minced garlic if you’re a garlic lover! Shouldn’t burn like it would over the hot coals.
    Loved the idea of bending the skewers to go around the vortex like that. You’ve got me wanting to get a Weber kettle now to compliment the highland.
    If you’re a potato guy, I like to skewer roast baby red potatoes. They get a nice crusty skin and always turn out fluffy in the middle. That would be a great idea for around that vortex with the bent skewers. You could even use that same marinade as a rub.

    Hi Ry, I just became a subscriber to your channel. Russ Jones at Smokey Ribs BBQ (one of my FAVORITE channels on YT...love Russ) gave you lots of praise and compliments so...you MUST BE GOOD for his endorsement!! I love kebobs and grill them often (I like mine with onions, green peppers and pineapple). Since watching your video last night of different ways to use the Vortex, I am ordering one today!! I think that the Vortex would really take my grilling to a new level using my Weber and appreciate the info!! Please keep the videos coming!! God bless!

    When using a vortex try your best to let the temps get high. You need to open that vent & get completely open for air flow.

    Hey Ry, those were some good looking and tasty kebabs! Like how yow bent the skewers so they'd work with the vortex on the kettle. This is another great way to use the vortex. Should have shown this method in your how to use a vortex upload. I believe they make a flexible skewer? Anyway, great video! Thanks Chris : )

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  6 лет назад +1

    Another great video that we're going to have to give a try. We're cooking Billy chicken right now. But I had a question on your Kabob skewers,did you by chance pick those up at the auto parts store? Because to me they look like engine oil dipsticks.

    Hi Ry Love your work! I'm a newbie to Weber Kettle grilling in NZ and was wondering if you could get the same results using the 2 charcoal baskets in the middle without having to buy a vortex, even put HD foil around the outside of the baskets perhaps???in NZ

      I’ve done exactly as you describe without the foil and it works well 👍

    I was curious. Have you tried crushing your rosemary before adding it to your marinade? It helps crack open the cell walls to get more flavor out.

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  6 лет назад

      I have smashed it before and noticed little difference from just the 'damage' done when I pull it off the sprigs from my garden. Maybe I'm rough enough in doing that :)

    What is the desirable temp in the chicken and the beef ?

    • @CookingWithRy

      Chicken is generally 165 and for beef on skewers it depends on how well done you want them.

Thanks Ps I also love Rosemary with Chicken... another great recipe is.. please Google *'Delia Smith Chicken and Puy lentils'* my absolute favourite dish. The red wine in the Puy lentils makes a big difference. Goes great with mixed salad. Cheers!
