@@_nx..kromer.6085 That's the point of the song. OId dogs fly down south, hide their heads in the sand (hedonism and money), but die alone, scared, sad.
100% agree...when the dual guitar part starts....my soul stops what it is doing and takes heed....I smile from ear to ear....he drags EVERY bit of emotion from the minor beginning to the transition into the major lift.....just makes you want to laugh, cry, yell.....love this piece of music!!
Well, that's exactly what I thought when I first heard the crescendo at the start of the second part of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (only to be contradicted by Gilmour himself in the next round, and I'm not totally convinced that he didn't go on but we can't hear it because it's ultrasonic...), but what he did in "Dogs" is at least as impressive. There is not a cell in me that stays indifferent to it.
Goytá F. Villela Jr. yes indeed....a friend of mine introduced me to Floyd when I was 18......I knew there was something different about this music.....it made me feel things I hadn't felt before......
I'd be undecided between that, the middle section of "Echoes" and the crescendo in the second part of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", but since all three were made by Gilmour, that's moot...
+Goytá F. Villela Jr. Gilmour best solos: comfortably numb, high hopes, hey you, shine on you crazy diamond, time, coming back to life, dogs, pigs, money, have a cigar, on an island, smile and its not even possible to rank them. those are out of this world
Shoumik Mahmud, of those you mentioned, I agree with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Dogs", "Money" and "Time" - all of them at the latest from 1977. (From "Animals", I'd still put the "Sheep" finale before "Pigs".) The rest are very good and above the average of most other guitarists, but certainly not jaw-dropping and not up to Gilmour's own previous standards. (In fact, although I love side 3 of "The Wall" and a few other good moments there, overall I find that record one of the most overrated ever and far from being in the first tier of Floyd records.) And although I find Roger Waters a disgusting person with a mediocre solo career, I concede that not a single so-called "Pink Floyd" record made after he left made me say "wow!" like many of their older records did. (Well, I do like a few pieces like "Learning to Fly", but I place them in the "nice to listen" category, not in the "masterpiece" one.) Time also showed how Rick Wright (R.I.P.) was important to blend Pink Floyd's alchemy together, shape and polish Gilmour's and Waters's rough ideas - the less Rick participated, the worse the record (with "The Final Cut" without him hitting rock bottom, and "The Dark Side", where Rick made half the record, a legend). As Waters said himself in "Have a Cigar", "it could be made into a monster if we all pull together as a team". The best Floyd was when they managed to work as a team. The moment they let their egos take over (especially, but not only Waters), it started going downhill.
I just started listening to Pink Floyd today, and they just put me in a happy mood. No other band has ever made me feel this way (then again I usually listen to metal)
I used to be a metalhead too, man! I mostly listened to thrash metal! And then pink floyd happened...i dont listen to metal anymore...cuz pf showed me the path towards more meaningful and layered music! I've been enjoying pf for a decade now! And i feel happy too!

You have to be trusted by the people that you like to, so when they turn their backs you've got the chance to put a knife in... What a great guitar's solo... thanks guys!!!
Pink Floyd makes you think, they open the dimensional plane of your mind and fill it with.... something amazing pink floyd will always be the most badass band i know
sachit mann, apples and oranges. Very different styles, they can't really be compared. Personally. Led Zeppelin never rang the right bells for me. Deep Purple, sometimes. The Who and Pink Floyd, always!
+John Gonzalez The dog will sometimes follow his own path taking him on journey's that he must do alone. When he returns he will be the lobo. His fight is his own and his path was chosen only by himself.
+brushcountry Bob After a long time spent reflecting about this i concluded that i want to be that Lobo, but not cause i chosen it only by myself. I wanna be that lobo because the system we constructed along the history forces me to be a pig, a sheep, a dog or a lobo. I always wanted to be the Eagle, but i realised that if i tried that, the world would had turned myself to something like an injured parrot and nothing more. Sometimes i still fly like and Eagle, "Learning to fly", but the only way to change something about that is becomming a Lobo and setting some sheeps free. It's nothing to do with personal choises, it's more like fate.
Having been a connoisseur of Floyd for 31 years now. I have come to believe that Animals is their greatest work, and Dogs the greatest track. While it reprises ideas and musical arrangements from the Dark Side, I think Animals makes a better job of it. While, admittedly, Brain Damage/Eclipse puts up a strong argument, listening side-by-side I think BD/E sounds more like something from the 1960s (in the shadow of Sgt. Pepper). Dogs sounds like something that could only have come from the 1970s. The quality of the musicianship is one notch higher in Animals too. The drums in particular, but also the nature of the arrangements. Reading the lyrics to Dogs it's hard to imagine how someone could turn that into a song. And yet when you hear the song, despite all the juxtapositions of ideas, it is still massively cohesive. Fucking masterpiece.
PINK Floyd is the ultimate band with music that will go on and on long after I'm gone and generations to come with the same feelings as I have and surely many other fans. Dogs has to be my song I absolutely love everything PINK FLOYD has recorded David Gilmour is my favorite musician in the world sometimes I wonder if he is human

It's hard to believe that the Animals cover is actually a photograph...a fine example of Roger's love of the musical diatribe. Richard Wright also deserves credit for his extensive contributions to this song, and the wide array of instruments he plays here.
Storm Thorgerson and Hipgnosis. A genius band needed a genius cover designer, and they got him. A man with that bursting creativity could only have a name like that. Glad that he had the chance to show his fabulous art before iTunes. RIP, Storm.
The best rock band period. The Beatles and the Eagles and the rest were good but they couldn't compare to Pink Floyd. They had such a fertile imagination that exceeded all expectations. This was a pure political album and they got it right, their opinion or not. I got high to this album more times than I can remember or care to confess to. By the way, I think the cover art is refering to industry, a big supporter of politicians. Mind you I said, "I THINK!" So don't respond and tell me how wrong I might be.
+EdwardoNorton smoking stuff you're not supposed to kind of helps with imagination, however. they were good, but don't forget that PF also had their low blows and lame songs. i am a floydian myself, and still wouldn't call them better than Queen... thats like saying oranges are better than carrots.

Your the one being foolish. And it's not comparing oranges to carrots. It's comparing true rock to pop. That's all queen was. Your opinion holds no weight nor water. End of disscussion.
from that line of thought, i could also say that Queen was true rock while PF was progressive jazz, since Queen ALSO has rock, and PF ALSO has prog jazz. i wasnt insulting you. i was simply stating that continuing to press on this same matter WOULD be foolish. in the end, you ended up saying exactly the same as i did: they are too different to be compared. this is the part where i would now say "who is the foolish person here?", but since i am trying to be polite, lets just say i am disapointed with your lack of vision. saying my argument holds no wheight or water while your argument states the same thing is not the reasoning of someone who understands what he is talking about. but hey, what do I know? i am just an internet surfer with multiple tastes in music, and you shouldn't take what i say so seriously. to think this pointless discussion all started with a simple comparison fallacy simply baffles the mind. i wish you a good day, and hope you continue to enjoy Pink Floyd. and i am not being sarcastic.

My favorite floyd song... went to a floyd tribute band tonight... hoping for dogs, but i got sheep.. i kept barking... run like hell was the tribute band. They very good, and worth seeing
I play name the band with my wife, not a big music buff, but when I told her Floyd is ez. All instruments are crip, vocals sit in tight with the music and crip and clear and just a bit off socially you got them! She's now at about 85% when Floyd comes on the radio, outside the usual they play!
The first time I smoked K2 was in my friend's car listening to this album from beginning to end and I didn't think K2 would work and it started hitting me hard right around the time Gilmour's voice echoes stone, and then that creepy organ comes thru. Music was wavy and started making me nauseous. One of my all time faves tho
My big brother had this song on 8 track. He played it in his Spitfire while he was working on it in the back yard. Let's see, in 1977 I was 7 years old then.
+Vae21Victis, What're you thinking? Don't say too much or somebody will turn him in for Copyright Infringement. He may have to pull these wonderful songs off You Tube.
I'm 70 years old. I listened to this song when I got married, when my son was born, when he died, please help me, it's stuck in the loop, where's the stop button
Roger was a genius, he was able to write all the lyrics alone,he support the band; even the beatles or rolling stones they couldn't wrote all the lyrics in a complete album without covers or 2 heads or 3 for wrote the lyrics music for fill a L.P.
I remember the track at 8:00: Dragged down by the stone, stone, stone. My older brother was listening to it while working on his Spitfire in the garage. I was 7 years old in 1977 when Animals came out.
The fact that this isn't frequently mentioned on a list of the best Pink Floyd songs is annoying, because while there are so many incredible Pink Floyd songs, this has to be one of the best. IMO, way better than even Comfortably Numb or Another Brick in the Wall II, two lauded songs (that aren't even the best on their album, let alone of all Pink Floyd's library)
If you’re young, listen to this song and listen to it good. Most people in this world are not your friend. If you show them vulnerability, they will not hesitate to eat you. So you have to gain their trust and expose theirs so that when they go to back stab you, you’re already 2 steps ahead. Peace through strength.
So you are becoming them? Living through fears and never live for real? What's the point?... Humanity, love or whatever you given to them will hurts them more that those knife you will receive in your back. With time your back will heal but their 'soul' with time will become always more unbearable even for themselves.
10 minutes into Pink Floyd & chill and the first song isn't even over yet
Underrated comment hahaha
Pigs on the wing 1 would've been done by then
technically it's the second song

I play name the band with my wife, not a big music buff, but when I told her Floyd is ez. All instruments are crip, vocals sit in tight with the music and crip and clear and just a bit off socially you got them! She's now at about 85% when Floyd comes on the radio, outside the usual they play!
dogs is the real master piece, takes you higher
The first time I smoked K2 was in my friend's car listening to this album from beginning to end and I didn't think K2 would work and it started hitting me hard right around the time Gilmour's voice echoes stone, and then that creepy organ comes thru. Music was wavy and started making me nauseous. One of my all time faves tho
My big brother had this song on 8 track. He played it in his Spitfire while he was working on it in the back yard. Let's see, in 1977 I was 7 years old then.
Animals and Dark Side of Moon are my favorites albums from Pink Floyd
You'll reap the harvest you have sown
YE-HESSSS!!! This one ACTUALLY PLAYS THE SONG, INSTEAD OF SILENCE! Fuck you copyright! Hahaha! :) You're my hero Cesar! Thank you!
HAHA Pink Floyd ♥
Cesar Kaisser This is my favorite Pink Floyd tune.
+Vae21Victis, What're you thinking? Don't say too much or somebody will turn him in for Copyright Infringement. He may have to pull these wonderful songs off You Tube.
At least it's not like any King Crimson videos, since Robert Fripp destroyed all digital copies of his band on the internet
I'm 70 years old. I listened to this song when I got married, when my son was born, when he died, please help me, it's stuck in the loop, where's the stop button
what a crazy masterpiece !! R.W, what have become of you ? pity destiny..
perfect song
I enjoyed your dog video. Keep up the great work! I'll check for more in the future.
Roger was a genius, he was able to write all the lyrics alone,he support the band; even the beatles or rolling stones they couldn't wrote all the lyrics in a complete album without covers or 2 heads or 3 for wrote the lyrics music for fill a L.P.
...Who was born in a house full of pain...
Awesome!
I remember the track at 8:00: Dragged down by the stone, stone, stone. My older brother was listening to it while working on his Spitfire in the garage. I was 7 years old in 1977 when Animals came out.
in Floyd songs there are storms and clear blue sky moments between all of the cacophony ups and downs to keep its continuity.
reminds me of my home town and my uncles
i love that this has a million views but only 5K likes, makes me think most people are too into listening to the music to like the video
+KD Stills def. agree...great to listen to on a warm summer night under the influence..
Pink Floyd's Best Album!
Wow, that guitar effect at 13:54!
One of my Fav's
I Love PinkFloyd
Love this.
Anyone's mother put this song on for them when they were a child to sleep to...its such a nice song to just relax to
I dig this.I love it all.
otra de tantas obras maestras
