    Lyrics (first verse):
    Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence

In harmonies, especially when there are two parts, you might want to consider using stereo so that melody is played only through one side and harmony part is played through the other. That way the listener can use the left-right balance to hear harmony or melody more strongly. Or, simply move one side of earphone set a little further from the ear.
    Thanks for your lessons.

@@FlaviaFlash same here, al though i will add i do actually enjoy the slight accent you can barely hear, fits very well with the song if you know a little about italien history and how speaking up have been very important through out italys history and seems to be a very important key factor in italy again.

That's so cool to hear you're studying them. Just listening to Pet Sounds, Smile, In my Room, Don't Worry Baby, Surfer Girl, etc. will show you how beautiful and intricate their harmonies all were. Brian Wilson was a genius, just like the Beatles and S&G. I swear, the 60's and 70's spawned some of the greatest and most innovative music that most of today's songs don't even hold a match to......

I cannot sing harmony ... probably because I've had no training for it. Harmony certainly does not come naturally to me.
Listening to _Sound of Silence_ over the years made me notice Paul Simon's lower harmony and I listened very carefully.
For many, many years now I've been trying to sing the lower harmony (as it suits my voice better) but I always get distracted by Art Garfunkel's higher voice.
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Paul Simon doesn't sing it the way it was originally recorded anymore. When they performed it at their reunion concert at Madison Square Garden in October 2009, Art Garfunkel sang it in D Minor one octave lower than the original recording, and Paul Simon harmonized one major interval below him.
