My brother and I used to do this where we would spend one day above ground then we would have to survive in the caves for the rest of the world. It was fun
This video was inspired by something similar I used to do a long time ago. One day above ground to grab some wood and sapplings then straight to a cave.

The Nether has a ceiling of pure bedrock. If that isn't a cave Nothing in Minecraft is.

Things that the Nether and a cave have in common:
~Deep underground
~Can't see the sun
~Full of cool locations (mineshafts and lush caves/fortresses and bastions)
~Both are much closer to lava/bedrock than the surface usually is
~Everything in them basically wants you dead

pro tip: throw a potion up in the air so that it lands on your head, that's how you can use a splash potion to save yourself when you fall into lava

I remember the first time me and my friends fought the wither in bedrock. We still have flashbacks from seeing the ground turn into a WW1 battlefield. We even set it down at bedrock but we couldn't kill it before it got to the surface.

@@abyssalvoid4644 milk, and enchanted diamond/netherite armor. A really good bow and sqord is good too

I’d say it’s definitely a cave. It has a bedrock roof, meaning it’s probably deep underground. Considering it’s both underground and enclosed, I’d say that makes it a cave.

The bedrock doesn’t confirm its deep underground, Mojang has confirmed its an entire dimension in and of itself, but yeah its definitely a cave.
And the achievement is "We need to go deeper" so I'd say it's a cave
Its also basically hell which is the UNDERworld so yeah its a cave

My one suggestion for caving is to always place torches on the right hand side wall that way you can't get lost by remembering "right is wrong left is to leave."
I use the same method,pretty much never get lost

Definitely gotta do 200 days at least on this one. I feel like you could get an insane underground city going. Something younger me always meant to do but never did
Man, i remember trying to do the exact same thing...
I had one going on under ground. It was really just a tunnel network. We had a few players with us. It was below a jungle, so I guess that's where we got our food. However, I was always just walking around making sure it was going well. I never knew how we really got food.

Just a note that you can aim a splash potion upwards, which is actually better than splashing it downwards as it gives you a longer duration.

I got a similar System for the Torch Placement: Whenever you place the torch, put it to the Right, so when you're heading home/in a cave you've already been in, If the torch is on the left, you're leaving the cave.
You'll never notice the difference. His attention span isn't wide enough for that.
I did the same thing and people thought I was stupid but I never got lost but they did lol

8:20 I put all my torches on the right when walking deeper into the caves.
That way when I want to find my way out I follow the torches on the left.
Some spots I have to mark the way out with two obvious torches on the left or I won't be able to find it.

Although the sea isn't, nor is the end... You could still beat the ender dragon by digging through the pillars and breaking the crystals that way though.

well, if you were to spawn underground in the end, then that could count as expanding a cave, however spawning outside of it would be leaving a cave. A gamble for sure, but one good enough to take.

I was hyped to see you starting this challenge! I tried something similar in survival a year or so ago, but I just gave myself one full in-game day to gather whatever I could from the surface before being banished to the underground.

A better way of not getting lost when navigating caves: when you are exploring always place the torches on your right unless you are going back on yourself. That way you will know you are going home if the torches are on your left.

I had that happen to me once on accident, I spawned in the middle of a cold ocean on a large biomes world. It's not a fun time. Had the same thing happen to me again with a badlands biome, after that I stopped playing large biome worlds.

@@doomertube7050 I don't like using known seeds tbh. For me the fun of Minecraft is exploring the world and discovering what's in it. I play really nomadic and it's not uncommon for me to roam tens or even hundreds of thousands of blocks from spawn just ripping what I need out of the earth along the way.

@@JMilamski It was a teeny tiny island at zero-zero maybe thirty blocks wide at the widest point and maybe twenty blocks wide going the other way with no trees on it. Just a tiny little postage stamp of dirt and sand surrounded by something like five thousand blocks of cold ocean biome.
just a little tip about that fire potion thingy for future reference i guess, if you fall in lava and only have a splash fire potion (like you did) you can look straight up to throw the potion and it'll break on your head and it'll work :)

At 15:56 just a little tip, if you look straight up into the air and throw the potion it’ll land on your head and give you the effect!
i know, that when you did that in the old version of minecraft it increased the potions duration you recon it still works?

Just a quick tip: when making a farm you don’t have to have the water lined up you can just make a 1 block hole, fill it up with water, plant 4 blocks out and it will still work

It's technically coded that it's a little faster. According to a developer. Not one that made the code. But one with access that saw it. But it doesn't really matter that much

it is proven that crops planted in rows grow faster.
I'm excited, because now Luke knows about Night Vision in caves, so a 200 days here could be pretty interesting!

Just always place the torches to your right when you are exploring. This means when torches are to your right you are going deeper into the cave and when the torches are to your left you are leaving the cave

Side note: When you need to splash fire res in the nether, you can throw it straight up and it will splash onto your character's hitbox. Avoids the need for nearby blocks.

Lush caves are the absolute goats of cave only playthroughs. They have infinite food with glow berries, they're well lit and thus easy to navigate, and you can turn azalea bushes into trees with bonemeal

There was a option avaliable in 1.17 that basically made the whole world a cave like the nether. I recommend that for even more challenge
Hey LTN hear me out, you’ve done normal 100 days(overworld), you’ve done caves 100 days(under-world), you’ve done nether 100 days(underworld), so you should do skyblock/factory 100 days(over-world)
A sky block 100 days would be very interesting to see because we’ve never seen you in that sort of environment and it would be really cool to see your learning process and how much you could progress.

I always place torches on the left so that you can find the RIGHT way home. One of the most useful tips I've learned.

This is what i imagined when i first started with Minecraft related stuff, just an endless complex of claustrophobic cave systems with monsters inside.

When I was younger, before and during the aquatic update, I basically lived in the caves. When home for storage and Resupply and then left again. So this video reminds me of those good, simpler days
There is literally a cave generation option in the same place where you’d change it to a superflat. It generates the entire world like the nether.
Edit: Apparently this was removed in 1.17

i did a similar challenge with 1.19 caves, i went straight to a 1.19 cave and never went out for the entirety of the world. the only thing i brought along was a singular sapling. i managed to somehow get to the nether and get a working farm *it was obviously glowberries*

Im pretty sure digging a hole to the surface but not going out of the hole doesn't count as going out of the caves. Then you can get stuff like sugar cane and other surface work materials. You could be like a mole man stealing stuff from the surface using sink holes. You could even start your own underground village.

found an awesome seed with a huge cave by spawn with a zombie spawner, lush cave biome, and multiple access points to a mineshaft, while starting a new nether survival world. Definitely need to try the cave challenge.

This has to be my favorite challenge that you've done. Ever since I first saw minecraft I've always thought the caves are the best part, except for how limited essential resources are. I'm motivated to try this challenge so I think I'll give it a go. It might be the first time I beat the Ender dragon in survival. Hardcore mode is just too much for me lol.
Is it... Kinda bad to say this is almost my typical way of playing Minecraft? Once caves got really interesting (to me) a large portion of me says "screw you aboveground!" Once I get some basic tools, I almost never see the sun again lol

You can swim up to the surface and throw the potion in the air so it splashes on your head
Torch Tip! What Luke did makes sense... but try putting all your torches on one side. I usually put them on my left side so whenever I'm leaving the cave, they are on my right.

To remove the player indicator you can lock the map. To do this make a cartographer's table and combine the map with a glass pane.
