I'm not a farmer, I'll never be a farmer but these videos are really fascinating especially as I live in a rural area. It gives me an insight in to what the various farmers are up to.
Absolutely. I’m not from a farming background but I live in the country now and as a youngster I was so interested I even studied farming at college and worked on a farm. But I still learn SO much from Harry’s videos. I guess that’s just the nature of a very very broad industry. Farmers really are masters of a multitude of trades.
Same here. I moved to a rural village in Worcestershire in March and really enjoy wandering the network of footpaths and seeing the crops develop. I loved Clarkson’s Farm and have been following 3 RUclips farming channels since. It was this that inspired me to make the move.
I actually live in Australia and was bought up on a farm..Merino Sheep and Hereford Cattle I don't know much about cropping, a whole different world..Thankyou Harry good stuff..👍👍👍
14:39 People have high levels of glyphosate in their urine, with a big reason being the off-label practice of farmers desiccating (drying) the crop just before harvest by spraying with Roundup, which causes foods made from these crops to have a lot of glyphosate herbicide, which people eat and digest.
I really am impressed that you hire people like Mark to display his amazing craftmanship and expertise, just incredible. I really miss the farm I grew up on, it's a wonderful way of life.
I'll be harvesting rice in North East Thailand in November using Kubotas. Small machines but practical. Similar process. Fuel expensive, price of rice very low. No help from government at all. Good luck Harry with the harvest.
Thanks for your great comment, fantastic to hear how farming is going from other parts of the world! Kubotas have an excellent reputation for keeping going at all times..
The farmers in the Netherlands have figured out the agenda to deliberately destroy farming that their government and all others are involved in hence the farmers massive protests there - everything that has been going on this last two years plus and everything that is going on just now is part of this agenda by these Mafias who own and control most of this planet being exposed in this video here and as per this video part of this agenda is 95% of the worlds population not being here by 2050 as well ruclips.net/video/98qv9ztkW_U/видео.html
In these uncertain global times, I believe more and more that the UK's farming industry should be a high priority for govt. I cycle around the lanes in the Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside, with a curious eye on the various comings and goings of our farmers, and I always wish them well. It's great that people like Harry explain some of the thoughts and processes to the rest of us.
Absolutely agree.. Farmers should be made priority immediately.as this in Russia and Ukrainian is going to cause huge implications with food.. It’s no different to energy WE NEED TO BE SELF SUFFICIENT.
When I cycled through the Midlands countryside I'd delight at the smell of a warm field of wheat. Loved it. Always wish I knew more of farming. I'm too fearful of getting knocked off the bike now to do much cycling anywhere.
How is the government going to control you unless they CRUSH the farmers and take their land? The government looks after you in the same way the mafia looks after people
That stone wall is stunning, well done Mark! Glad to see you do things properly, including the iron fencing you put in last winter. You can now forget about them, unlike the modern Post fencing that would need renewing in 5 years. Great video
It is nice to look at, then so is a living hedge. I layed a hedge last year and would imagine it's easier to do that than dry stone wall. Each to their own. A mixture is good.
Good post and rail would last a lot longer than 5 years, more like 30 years. I still agree that the stone wall and estate fencing are much nicer though.
I love dry stone walls and how they change as you move around the country. I love the variations in the craft. I built a house in Argyll with stone walls and it’s extremely satisfying and I know what he means about the corner stones! Very precious.
Stone wall is fantastic. At The National Stone Centre in Wirksworth there is a row of dry stone wall built in all the main styles, the variation is quite dramatic. There range from your style of wall to (I think) Scottish Borders walls which are made from really large lumps of stone.
Harry, there's a company in western Canada called Redekop and they specialize in aftermarket straw choppers. They have developed a straw chopper that pulverizes all the harvestable weed seeds/grains. It helps with controlling volunteer crop growth and preventing herbicide tolerant weeds, both as you know are very expensive to deal with! Greetings from Saskatchewan :)
The combines are travelling too fast and grain is going over the sieves. We never had this problem when I combined in the 1970s! Stop regularly to clean the sieves, and turn the fan down to stop the grain from blowing over the back. Everyone is in too big a hurry these days!
@@stuartstead3768 Grain going over the sieves is a settings issue not a ground speed issue. These large combines need to be running near maximum capacity to harvest effectively and efficiently. Running at 95 to 100% capacity with the correct setting will yield the cleanest sample and minimize lose out the back. Also farmers with a problem with volunteer cereals within a cereal crop should pay closer attention to crop rotation so herbicide selection isn’t so limited.
I'm one of your Cotswold (Burford) neighbours, we start on our OSR this afternoon. We also had wheat in our winter barley but to a lower level. Wishing you all the best for this summer.
Here in Montana we can buy snowmobile gas. Ethanol free fuel. We use this in all our small engines, weekenders, chainsaws, water pumps and sawmill. I still try and run them dry before winter but if I forget stuff still starts in the spring.
Harry, from the Car side of your house but ran across this and your grain price title perked my interest. The narrative and news has shifted from inflation, inflation, inflation to recession. When that narrative shifts so do commodities and that is why prices have moderated some. Problem for the economy and everyone is that the Fed will continue to hike rates into a slow down since they are so behind the curve. This will slow down the economy further and prices. Managing time is what you need to do, fertilizer etc should come down too but always on a lag of course. I am an independent wealth manager registered with the SEC in Virginia. I enjoy your content thanks.
Nice video Harry, love the Kicking Horse shirt too...I've skiied there many many times, since they're local-ish (4 hours away) to me! One of the great undiscovered hills in Canada.
Fantastic as always. Sat here in my office on the other side of the planet it's surreal to see where I grew up and fantastic to get a slice of the life I used to have. Say hello to Tom, my stepbrother, and John my cousin who have cameoed a few times with spraying, etc.
Harry, i've been a Harrys Farm Subscriber since you started it and it is fantastic. So interesting to see how a farm actually works. Keep up the good work!
Harry I love your videos. I’m a frustrated farmer you see. I’m an Aussie retired school teacher and taught at a Public school in SE England from 89-95 and worked on mixed farms in Herts/Essex area during long summers. I’ve also started doing seasonal farm work in Aus to keep me busy. I’ve done a season planting and harvesting the WA wheatbelt and in the Vic Mallee. Your farm looks stunning and your videos are first class!
Harry you are excellent explaining everything that goes on in farming, great to look and listen too, hope you and your team have a safe and great harvest
Thanks a lot for great videos. I have myself been working within agriculture here in Sweden and so is my son now. Being a car head, I also enjoy your car videos and the combination with travel experiences makes it so much more interesting. Keep going ☺️. Greetings from Gregor in Sweden.
The combines are amazing machines. Not working for that many hours but doing the work of many men. They need plenty of maintenance, but still, amazing! Almost all of the UK's workforce was in farming before the industrial revolution. Those machines free a lot of people up.
Thank you harry for yet again a very interesting and very informative video, you have a very good style of delivery that keeps people like me a non farmer glued to the screen please keep these coming. All the very best.

I just found this guy Harry and I really like his presentation. I'm not a farmer but I come from a long line of Farmers. I follow several farming channels. It's interesting to see how different farmers farm in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. Farmers are a very interesting lot. They have to be gamblers, resourceful and jacks of all trades.
Best of luck Harry. Be careful you don’t lose all the barley. Thanks for spending money on the dry stone wall, and thats from a fencing supplier. Ellis Dawe and Son Ltd.
Thanks for another interesting in sight to all the limited ups in a farming life . From the start of your videos , I have never look at my breakfast cereal , the way I did .
Stone wall looking superb. With this dry spell and high temperatures countryside is tinder dry. Reckon it's a good idea to keep a water bowser and pump in the field when combining in case of fire, if unlucky striking a flint with the combine header could cause a spark and be eneough to ignite dry tinder.
You,re doing a great job Harry, You put across what Farmers have to contend on a daily basis very well. The more the general public understand the true picture the more they will on side. also not a farmer - perplexed consumer. can come over with suitcase full of potash (not the other) if that helps
