Harry sir, you are a chuffing legend. As someone who's had bikes since 13, and never been without at least half a dozen, I have to doff my cap sir. I have done some gentle off roading over the years, and a spot of pre 65 trials at one point, the thought of a 7 day off road marathon scares me as much as it does excites me, and. as one on the wrong side of 50, I am glad you are there flying the flag for the elder statesman! I found your channel because of the cars, we all love anything with an engine after all. I sell turbochargers for a living, and as such have had my share of rocketships, but bikes are my soul... and the fact you include such content is an absolute joy to watch. So thankyou, and long may it last... :-)

Wow, Harry!! Initially with a 920 Norton Wasp and then on to Honda CR500's when we gained sponsorship (funny story as the funding was for Jo Durie for Wimbledon, but the CEO of the company was much more interested in bikes rather than balls going back and fourth, so poor old Jo lost out there). This ride brings back a lot of old memories. In my days as a student back in 1987(!) we did a very similar route in a LR. Not through the sandy parts though. Our furthest southern point was probably Ourzazate. My first experience on the African continent. Marocco is a beautiful country if you appreciate arid landscapes+ nature + geology. Oh he's F... Oh, Charlie Metcalf! - this was the highlight for me. Words of a proud dad. Couldn't know the feeling better. What an amazing adventure - huge thanks for sharing with us, feels like 5% of being there. Greetings from Latvia.
I'm a cyclist... Sand is my worst nightmare and I'm still not sure if more speed makes it better or worse! The thought of floating a motorbike across kms of it is incredible to me. In the 4x4 we just used to get the tyres down to 8psi and keep the rescue ramps on hand!
Best for sand is steering damper. It makes huge difference. First it stabilizes your steering and after a while, when you get used to it, and when you start to loosen your arms, it starts to be even easier to go through sands. Off course sudden deep sand and therefore lack of power can still make you fly but you won't go fast in that scenario anyways, so it's fine.
I don't know how many times I have watched this film now, but I love it every time. Someday I will do the Sandraiders. It just looks amazing! Thanks Harry!
I've been driving for 14 years but this is my first season riding a motorcycle. I can't imagine how difficult and demanding this trip must have been. Hats off to you Harry for staying active and also for spending time with your son this way!

Thanks for sharing your experience of this event, really enjoyed watching your video. As a Moroccan and a bike rider living abroad I’m looking forward to participating in this event when time allows. I have done all Morocco by 4x4 but never with a bike 🏍. I highly recommend the mountain roads and villages in the high atlas region (you don’t have to go that far off road, staying on tarmac is already a good experience). Cheers
Harry - another “not a bike guy” who loved this. I watch the channel for the excellent car coverage - but if anything is going to get people into bikes then this is it - superb video, keep it up!

Whilst not a rider myself your film captures the trill of the trip and just how hard it was. I loved the exasperation in the sand and the look of the luxury overnight stops. Thank you for filming it and sharing it with us.
Brilliant, these long form specials are always good and this was a pearler. Most of us will never do half the amazing trips you get to do so thanks for sharing.
Well done Harry, a true inspiration to all us maturing cheddars out here, particularly the ex bikers. At 50, I went and bought a BMW R1150RT and drove it home 100 miles after never being on a bike for 25 years. At 62, I still have it, and as a farmer, get little time to ride anyway but I love that flat twin engine 💪💪👍👍💪💪
Nostalgic stuff for me. I also had a Honda XL600 in the early to mid 80's. What an awesome event and cudos for not letting age get in the way. Harry I hope I'm up for events like this when I'm your age. (I'm 58 now)
What an adventure! I've been saving this one for the right time and I'm so glad I did. This is classic footage and a wonderful video. I'm sure you would probably rather just enjoy the event so thank you Harry for putting the effort into the filming so we can call come along with you. Fantastic!
At the wrong end of the 5th decade, where do I enter my pristine Honda XR400R. Just need a bigger tank … ! Such adventure is more relevant now than ever. The 80’s was the greatest for the Dakar, remember John Deacon on the BMW.? Car stuff is all well and good, but bikes are the soul of anything with an engine for anyone enjoying motorsport, skill and engagement. There is nothing purer for the participant than a bike, especially off road. ! Thank you Harry for bringing that to those less exposed to such joy.
It's truly amazing when you go on holiday and meet people who are bilingual, lots being the norm. When I was in Switzerland most people were bilingual and many could comfortably converse in 3 languages, and here's ignorant old me.. English only .. It really puts things in perspective.
Brilliant Harry. I'm going to do it in 3yr time. I'm buying an Africa Twin needing rebuilt so I'm going to tailor it to suit as I go. I'm a good rider but accidents have messed up my legs a bit so I have bad compartment syndrome now, operations to fix them and my pinkie which rolled in the glove in August and November.
Harry can do it all; Taking us in special cars but not afraid to make himself dusty on a motorbike to. Not that many car/bike journalists around. Great work!

Harry - you're a trooper. Thanks for giving younger generations something to aspire and look forward to as we age. Keep it up hero!
Great watch. Thanks Harry.
Ps - Thought you looked trimmer in your Farm vid this morning, now I know why.
Nostalgic stuff for me. I also had a Honda XL600 in the early to mid 80's. What an awesome event and cudos for not letting age get in the way. Harry I hope I'm up for events like this when I'm your age. (I'm 58 now)
Wow - just wow! - what an adventure! When it cames to bike-videos, it does not get any better than this. Loved every second of it!
Miss my XL600R dearly, wonderful bikes!
Could have watched another hour fantastic Sunday viewing. Exciting stuff. Thanks.
This was awesome, what a trip!! Amazing those bikes can handle it, utterly brutal on machinery
Loved every second of this video! I have never ridden a bike, but this video really inspired me to learn how to ride a bike
Be very careful. I was exactly the same. I now have a bike license, own an old Africa Twin and am learning to ride it off-road.
Go for it. You will not regret it
Glad you enjoy morocco i wish i can meet you here in person 🇲🇦
I wasn't really into bikes until I watched your previous films, subsequently i'm 8 seconds in and delighted to notice it's almost an hour long
It's truly amazing when you go on holiday and meet people who are bilingual, lots being the norm.
I admire you Sir!
Harry can do it all; Taking us in special cars but not afraid to make himself dusty on a motorbike to. Not that many car/bike journalists around. Great work!
