... thing is, if they had proper lasers in the backstory, then they would have proper LIDAR... and to ruin LIDAR, you'll need minvosky particle densities so high that it'll make visual targeting practically impossible. However, if a faction with LIDAR showed up, then this attack would be getting into a sort of hell.
@@TheTrueAdeptthing is they did have lasers in UC, however armor tech caught up with semi-transparent coating that while could be used to increase laser weapon power, would basically render lasers useless. Semi-transparent coating would be later developed into beam-resistant coating that would help cushion the damage of beam weapons (beam weapons are energized particles, lasers are photons) but not stop the damage (so basically useless unless used in high amounts on mobile suits directly but if applied on shields, would allow said shields to be of some use)
@@bryanrussell1478 yeah, the armor is impossible under physics, as lasers would literally rip such armor apart. That's why the only real material useful against lasers is something dense like tungsten, uranium, iridium, and osmium. Then there's the fact that you could make solid-state lasers in the UV spectrum, which would completely nullify that armor, especially if it's an ultra-short pulse laser. ... and don't get me started on Xasers (X-Ray Lasers) and Gasers (Gamma Ray Lasers).
The mind boggling part is how the federation's space fighters are simultaneously slower than flash stepping mobile suits while the battleships are also immobile; if its just a matter of size, the fighters should have been drastically outmaneuvering the suits, so apparently its just "make it a human shape" gives it super speed. The battleships are also seemingly made of tin foil while also being horribly undergunned for their size... meaning the ship essentially just made up of empty space and explosive material? Even with minisky particle non-sense, the battleship's designs just don't add up. They should either be giant slabs of armor or giant walls of guns, and yet are neither.
My understanding is that the main takeaway is the Mobile suits' capacity for omni-directional movement with applied HE rockets and heat hawks for when the pilot can close the gap, you do have a point in the long-term, as the Federation ships do go down a little too easily.
People talk a ton about the realism of Gundam but it's only the people that are a masterpiece. The battle is definitely super cool but not at all sensible.
its about the where the thrusters are located, on a MS they have way more nozzles so they can do more directions while the EAF fighters have most thrust on the rear, same with their ships. plus the big ships designs are obviously designed to engage an enemy to their front so they suffer from these multi directional attacks.
@@Privatepain1234 Here's the thing, there is zero reason that a fighter has to have its thrusters on the back and can't have a thruster on the bottom or the top as well if that's plausible for a mech to have multi-directional thrusters. This isn't in air, the wings aren't there to provide lift, so there's no reason that the thrusters have to be all at the back. If multi-directional thrusters will work on a human shape, they'll work on a smaller fighter as well. This carries over to the battleships even more: The battleships are something like 75% empty space on their hulls. There is ZERO reason for them to not be making use of that in a space environment. Either those "empty spots" should be loaded with guns so they're a 360% capable fighting beast (Which they're clearly not) or the absolute thickest armor and defenses possible (Which, again, they're not... they Really, REALLY aren't. Absolute tissue paper, especially since see tons of giant mobile armors during the war that are borderline immortal from attacks). Even modern day warships (Or heck as far back as WW2) are absolutely COVERED In guns wherever they can cram an extra one on, unless their explicit purpose is as a carrier to service planes (And even then they STILL have multi-directional gun batteries on areas outside of the strip). Maybe in the first few episode it's plot armor and sheer luck but later on in series Amuro had the skill and experience to keep up with the later zeon suit but further more a lot of the attributes of why Zeon lost is because of the people in Zeon not feddies. Plus the fact Zeons as it may had only a little financial help from the Jupiter Empire against a very rich Feddies that can afford to lose and make more suit. plus their developmetor lead were making deterrent suit to see what is able to take down the trojan horse at their missions instead of focusing on their wide spread troops.
