Benin Republic is a small country on another level, a 3 hours drive from Lagos.. It is the definition of peace and tranquility. I love the old architectural designs, though the city doesn't really speak luxury but you can see that they pay attention to details. The country is clean and driving in this country is too sane that I was almost getting uncomfortable LOL. I have visited the country 3 times this year. Once I can't hold the Naija stress, I just take the 3 hours drive to cool my mind. I did some reviews of lovely places to visit there. You can check it out. . LOL But all in all. Well done Tayo you are doing a nice job. I can confidently say nobody does it better

@@Cleo1John It's ok to ask questions. Please feel free to ask there is Benin City in Nigeria. Benin City is the capital of Edo. Its made of up of a tribe with rich culture and people. Benin Republic on the other hand is a country. It is Nigeria's closest neighbor to Nigeria. It shares a border with Nigeria in Lagos. I made several videos on my last visit to benin Republic. @@Cleo1John Leke above has explained accurately. In addition, there are two Benins. One to the geographical left of the Yorubas in Nigeria and one to the right of the Yorubas, within Nigeria. The geographical coastal left of the Yorubas, the Yoruba coast itself, and the geographical coastal right of the Yorubas were, by Europeans, termed collectively, the Bight of Benin. On the left is now a country Benin Republic, named after that Bight supposedly, in the center are the Nigerian Yorubas, and on the right is the historical Benin empire, afterwhich the entire bight was named. Hope that helps.

Benin is beautiful! I am so glad that you guys are taking the time to travel around Africa to show the world a part of the continent that is hidden by the western media. While watching this video, I couldn't stop thinking about the millions of people in America and the Caribbean who were taken away from Benin. It's hard to imagine that some of my ancestors once lived on that land. During Oyo Empire many Yorubas migrated to Benin. Haiti also has a very strong link with Benin.

I lived in Benin for 3 good years and the good news is I met my husband in Cotonou as well. Benennoise are very hospitable and peaceful. There are loads of affordable hotels if you know your way around a place called John K. As you earlier said about the boarder, Nigerians part of the boarder is an eye sore. You will even see out uniform men physically fighting each other and drunk at the boarder. It’s a shame that nothing has changed since the 80s that I was there.

I'm a Ghanaian that was born in Benin and schooled there at the famous Ekinous Bilingual Schools (which I'd like you to visit when next you go there...) and I was always travelling to Nigeria and I even stayed in Aja Illaje(Ikota) for some months. I stayed in Togo for some months too and now I'm back to my country Ghana ❤... My point is: we are distinguished by our various nationalities, languages, but the culture and our way of life is very similar... I wish you could visit the main capital of Benin which is Porto-Novo... You'll know that you're in a different country because of the serenity and fast movement of the traffic, but you'll still think you're in Nigeria because you'll meet one Yoruba person every 10 metres you walk... I was in Benin Republic in Cotonou in the early 90s from Lagos on a working visits and again in 2002-03 from UK where I have been sojourned for nearly three decades. I am thinking of retiring now and Lagos has recently been unattractive due to the current socio-economic & political intrigues. I have been thinking of Cotonou, a quiet, clean and peaceful location very close to Lagos outside Nigeria to invest in a very decent property in a top notch area and have my peace of mind. Fly into Lagos once in a while to attend events and family. I then saw this video that confirms my thought process. Thank you Tayo.

@Ayomide Ahmed, I know all the Western States like the back of my hand including Ondo state where my late mother hails from. When you get to the stage in life that I am at the moment where I can see 60 around the corner, jumping into a car 🚗 to attend to business or function in Lagos after experiencing transportation in Europe for over three decades is unappealing. For me Abeokuta is next location. If there was a fast, safe modern train link to Ibadan perhaps but ideally what is needed is a circular, regularly train that goes from Lagos to Ikorodu to Sagamu to Abeokuta back to Lagos. That will probably decongest Lagos. Irrespective of whatever is on the ground, for me safety & power (electricity) comes first and I am not convinced we have that yet in the South West.

I was a French student many years ago and did my year abroad in Lome Togo. Of course we had to pass through seme border and across Benin to get to Lome. It's definitely a beautiful and peaceful country. I went into the town a few times. Same with Togo, clean and peaceful. It was like living in the western world. I didn't want to come back to Nigeria. I had one of the best 2yrs of my life in Togo! I pray I get to go back again someday. Great video as usual! It's funny how the naira has become weak next to the CFA.. and the Ghana cedis. It used to be the other way round.

Loved this Video, well done to African youtubers, you are the spear tip to getting our continental tourism industry to flourish, African governments have ignored Domestic tourism for various reasons, but it is no longer acceptable, African tourism is the way forward to create African unity and job security. It will expand economic activity within our own control and eventually force our governments to better manage.
I am looking forward for the days when young and old African tourists can move around Africa in large numbers, that will bring costs down.and efficiency will have to go up. All those impediments like excessive road blocks, and high transport and accommodation charges will be gone.we will spend our money in the continent supporting each other.
