Jump scares....jump scares everywhere👀👀💀
Horror is dead -_-
Is not dead, it's just not going to the big screen.
Yeah, babadook didn't have any jump scares in it. It was a horror movie. Their are some foreign films that don't use jump scares either. If you are into horror films you'd look see for different ones. Also the its still scary if you were in that situation I'd be scared.
***** I saw babadook and I'm always open to watching horror films that are independent and foreign. I love horror movies I was saying "horror is dead" as more of a slander towards these big Hollywood movies that are just trash. Yeah, nothing movie wise scares me but I thoroughly enjoy a great horror movie.
Amen Kasia! You got it right!
There's is many different genres of horror, I'm sorry your so close-minded.
i feel like all these horror movies are becoming worse and worse through the years and like the trailers are always the same i kinda feel the older horror movies are better and that's sad :/
It isn't sad because you can still watch old films, some new horror films are still good, I love horror so I like to think I know what I'm on about when I say new horror are still good, take the conjuring for example, I watched the trailer and fell in love with it, watched the movie and omg I loved it, but then annabella came out which is the second movie and it had a good trailer but the film wasn't really that good.
Harry Thomas yea i agree there are still some that are good and i've watched both of those that you said, but like idk ;-;
the witch was amazing
I don't understand why you have received such few likes for your honest comment. Noone can say any better.
jonesrz well thank you
R.I.P. Heather O'Rourke!
I really miss her. She is a good actress. I was born in 90's but she is one of the kids having a gorgeous and angelic face that I've seen in mid 80's.
This movie wasn't about her let it go I was born in the 80's original always be my childhood movie remake was ok I'll miss her
Is it messed up that I laughed XD
Yes, it is

Family moves to the new house cliche, kids starting to talk to ghost cliche, parents starts to notice things and call the someone professional cliche, exorcism cliche, happy ending cliché.

Oh man... IT'S FAR WORSE THAN (just) THAT! Some of the lines which the main characters are saying are simply... well, at a moment I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming, but then I realize that even in whatever dream I have, my mind could never produce such a terrible lines, so I realize that I'm watching yet another Hollywood piece of junk, that's way beyond terribe!
Shteno would have been better if they had a twist. Instead it could have bene called the poltergasm
True-but, you do know this is a remake of a 1982 film, right?
The original is the reason those things are cliches
What's crazy is that I used to live in Illinois. Literally about 15 minutes from Naperville in a burb called Bolingbrook. I remember being told as a kid that the place was built on Indian burial grounds but I never thought anything of it. Tho, as a kid my Mother said I used to scare the hell out of her by talking to a woman she couldn't see named "Lisa with the scary hands" even thinking about it now gives me chills even tho I can't remember much about it.
I’m From Chicago and use to live in Naperville/ Bolingbrook as well . Off 75th St.& Washinton there was these nice places that we use to live in (23 Foxcroft Rd) We had been told similar . We experienced countless , scary events as well. 👻
Donotella F. I miss living out there. I’m in West Virginia now. But have family in Joliet I still see. I drove by that old house every chance I get. Lots of good and bad memories there.
WAIT WHAT IT WAS IN ILLINOIS!!!! IM IN ILLINOIS,
Cuz Lisa was totally a common ancient Indian name lol.
True fans of true horror: move along, there is nothing for us here.
Absolutely
Gonna watch it just because it's got Sam Rockwell in it.
love him but this is the least interesting film hes ever done....gotta pay his rent i spose
Watch a movie just for an actor? I guess...

Agreed-and even the ones where they combine the fades with that low-frequency hum that Michael Bay uses in a lot of his trailers. . .
So what you're saying is that lack of imagination isn't the first thing that you look for in somebody who wants to tell you a story?
The original Poltergeist is a really good movie... Why bother spending millions of dollars on a remake? Why not release the original in theaters again so that new generations can watch and enjoy this classic film?! True, movie special effects and sound effects are better now but cult classics can withstand the test of time and are NOT in need of a remake, plus new generations can get an idea as to how that generation lived, before smartphones, social media, etc.
Da orginal was good.but not sure its a Cult movie..and as for new generations seein how people lived before new technologies. .never really thought of that...i tell you one thing..people had more freedom back then..more reality..you will find out when everything comes crashing down.,next 50years maybe..ps.i seen a ghost once
Thw original one is really good , but like its kind of creepy that part of the actors died after filming the movie and to all the other actors something tragic happened to them 😅😁
They say the cast and creators of the movie were cursed after filming it 😁
Tom Murphy It is a cult classic, movie commentators as well as the general public agree that it is. We can agree that some of us has seen and/or experienced some sort of phenomena.
guy tremblay Yes I am, I saw this version and it doesn't compare to the original in ALL aspects. The original was scary but it had heart ( one could clearly see the love and bond of the family ) and the acting was perfect!
The scene where the house basically explodes gives me chills.
I'm gonna call This Polterghost in order to differentiate it from the Real Poltergeist which doesn't need a remake since it's an Iconic Classic
anyone realize they show the ending of the movie in this trailer...
Glad someone else saw that too.
We know how it ends, the damned things a remake of an older film for fucks sake
Well assuming that this is essentially a shot for shot, or even a spiritual remake of the original, the house being destroyed would be the ending. So I'm gonna say the jump cuts of the house exploding are what the OP was whining about.
well... i didnt point it out cause i know there are people out there who dont know what "the shot" is and i dont wanna be that guy who spoils it. but goof know what im talken about!
and jeff i wasnt whining about anything at all... i just made a statement. why do you have to be so negative towards me. what did i do to you?
so what Jeffrey Wilson, all quiet suddenly. sorry to shit on your hate parade.

I remember watching this trailer on the TV when i was younger! I slept in the living room that night and wouldn't stop reversing back to that trailer and now here I am reliving that Nostalgia
Me too
I did too, we should make a therapy group.
This movie likes like a mash up of every horror movie cliche ever, with unscary jump scares that trick the audience in to thinking that they're scared just because it surprised them. I shall patiently wait until we get a decent horror movie some day.
The walking dead....
Look up babadook it looks like a decent horror movie without jump scares!
Barry7R I know about that movie
Unfriended looks good
Babadook was far from decent, it was completely worthless.
LOL @ everyone bitching about it. Hollywood will always remake movies, the concept of "original" is a myth. Everything from comic books to TV shows, and yes; movies have been inspired by something thus making it unoriginal. At least with remakes, they're not bullshitting you in to thinking it's "original".
Thank you
Movies can take ideas that may be unoriginal and do something totally fresh and "original" with them. Example: The Cabin in the Woods. This movie's problem is that it's not doing anything inventive with a premise that's been done hundreds of times.
Joe Dirt ikr
the reason they do it is for the NEWER generations that havent seen or dont get the hype of the original
i saw the original and sure it was creepy but not "wet the bed, jump in your seat, cover your eyes, crying, screaming" scary like this one will end up being. think about it, the original came out years ago. and at the time technology to make a movie realistic and high tech CGI stuff didnt exactly exist like it does now. Now with newer and much better/improved tech. a classic horror flick can be 10X scarier :D
Jlynnschlimgen"Now with newer and much better/improved tech a classic horror flick can be 10X scarier."
Doubt it, also remember, the original "Poltergiest" had a good director (Steven Spielberg). Saw the remake of " A Nightmare on Elm Street" few years ago, really wasn't that scary from the original.
MrJuly1990ish Actually the original poltergeist was directed by Tobe Hooper.
When the little girl said i like this house

You can't remake a classic.
I would say to everyone, watch the original version.
I remember watching this when i was like around 5 years old. I have finally found it.. :)
I put this on but ended up watching the old one last night
i hope the actors dont start dying in real life like the original cast
What is with all of these remakes coming out!! GOSH!!
Copyrights expire after 25 years hence remakes
really!? OH! I actually did not know that! WOW! well... ya learn something new everyday! :)
I don't know, Napoleon. :D
Will H. That isn't true. It's just a remake. MGM made the original films and has the rights to sequels and remakes, though the first Poltergeist film is now owned by Turner Entertainment/Warner Bros.
Copyrights on work-for-hire productions that were still under copyright in 1976 (and after) last for 95 years after the date of publication. Look up US Copyright Law.
OH!! now see that is what I had originally thought! thanks GarudaMan! :)
I really loved this remake and actually thought it was completely necessary. The original is good but I feel because of the time period it was made, it didn't exactly live up to its potential. It was held back by the poor effects, which obviously weren't as well established yet. So I think it was really smart to remake it in modern day with all the progression we've made in technology. They also keep a lot of the same elements from the original but change them enough so it's not just a bad rip off. The cast is great too. This is a really good remake, I wish people would stop trashing it.
There was no CGI in the original. It was made in 1982.
When i was just a boy I use to love this movie so much. My baby sister would try to play like she's stuck in the tv. As the movie was like. So I did not mind playing along with her.
As a movie fan, I am not opposed to remakes at all. But, considering how much time and money goes into making movies I can't help but question, why sink all that effort into remaking beloved movies that I can pick up from Netflix and watch over and over again? Why not remake movies that had great ideas but turned into horrible movies? Why not remake say "Gamer" or "The Purge" or "Final Destination"? (Sorry to anyone who actually likes those movies, by the way).
Yup. Remake the Resident Evil movies too. Remake the shit movies and leave alone movies that are actually loved by people
To be fair, the "Final Destination" films are in the so bad they're good category IMO and they at least had a fair amount of good performances in them...well...the first three did anyway.
EmpireLS56KW Personally, I don't think it's fair to immediately condemn this remake. Who knows? It could potentially turn out to be a pretty good film in its own right. Yeah, there have been PLENTY of shitty remakes in recent years but there have also been a few good ones to slip through the cracks such as John Carpenter's "The Thing", the 2010 "True Grit", and the 2013 "Carrie".
I agree about "True Grit", the 2011 "The Thing" was a prequel not a remake, but the 2014 "Carrie" a good remake? May I have a hit of what you were smoking? I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Everybody's got their opinions I guess.
Omar Harris actually Carrie was remade in 2013 and it was good but not as good as the original
I'm so excited to see this, it scared the shit out of me as a kid when the original came out
Just like in the original 1982 movie "Poltergeist" and I will say "They're Here!" Thank gosh that scares the heck out of me!

Tbh this was 4 years ago you commented this but the remake is actually pretty good while not original brings you a family that feels much closer and more character development. So in this movie you actually care about the characters
@@jayden6994 gotta love Rockwell

Something about the last scene in this trailer is hilarious.
Changed short lady to tall man, robot to keyboard, last name of family, first name of all family members, blonde girl to brunette, mom finds oddity in kitchen to girl finds oddity in bedroom and finally, brand new house to old fixer upper. Seems the only things that stayed the same are the girl gets taken and the kitchen table is tan coloured. Oh, and there's a clown.
AngryAtheist the house looked the same to me even the bedroom. what was their last names? I know the old one was freeling I think
***** Was that really too?
***** she meant was that really true, as in the actors dying. wasn't the girl murdered by her father?
It's not supposed to be a remake it's supposed to be based on the classic not the actual exact ppl from the first movie with the exact same things happening
what would be the point in that when everyone already seen and loved the older version we don't need another movie based on it, only reason they doing this to use different special effect. not saying it's bad or whatever but also not wasting 30 bucks or more to go see it when I can watch it on tv.

People who say "horror films are getting worse.", simply don't understand what they're saying. Horror films have always been problematic and were once considered b-movies nearly all the time. For every good horror movie, 5 bad ones come out. It's been that way for decades. No, horror films aren't getting worse. As of late, a horror Renaissance is occurring and some truly amazing horror films have come out. Not this one, of course.
Jodoin Maxime Is that you're argument, or do you have a valid point? I've been lucky enough to view films from all over the world and even in the country of origin. Until you're buying extremely rare $70 art house films and spending time in Paris learning about French New Wave from the 60's, I don't think you need to be telling me about film.
I doubt you even know the history of film, or seen a movie older than 1990. Do you know who Truffaut, Goddard, Kubrick, Bergman, or Kurosawa are?
Can you tell me about the collapse of the studio system which led to the gritty and violent films from the 70's and revolutionary film directors?
If you bothered to research anything, instead of opening your mouth and looking like an ignorant moron, you'd know what I'm talking about. Film is my greatest passion and you're out of your depth here.

While being partial remake of first movie, this movie acctually incorporates elements of all three original movies.
From first movie: overall plot, abduction of youngest daughter, boy being scared of storm, Kendra and Madison counting kisses to doll same way Steven and Robbie count until thunder hits, moved Indian cemetery being mentioned.
From second movie: character of Carrigan Burke strongly resembles Taylor.
From third movie: we get to see Other Side as distorted version of family's real world house (frozen aparment in Poltergeist III).
Sandy Mom This movie incorporates quite a few elements from Poltergeist II: Carrigan Burke strongly resembles Taylor, Amy and Madison planting flowers, roof windows above kid's bedroom, first contact through a toy, father being without a job and miserable about it, father also seen drinking alcohol...
Naru: It’s scientific
Lynn: It’s obviously a earth spirit
Monk: No no no, it’s a polteirgeist
The fact they even decided to remake this 😭😭😭
My favorite moment of entire movie is when Kendra is putting Madison to sleep and Madison asks her to kiss her doll three times. It is such an emotional scene, esspecially since we all knew what was about to happen.
In original movie we got to see very clearly that there was sibling rivalry between Dana and Robbie and that Robbie and Carol Anne shared close sibling relationship (furthered even more in Poltergeist II), but absolutely nothing on relationship between Dana and Carol Anne was ever shown and they barely even talked on screen.
at the end she got yeeted up the stairs 😭😭
I still haven't seen this remake yet. By the looks of the trailer, I'm not missing much.

So many people in the comments looking down their noses at remakes.
Get off your high horse! There is a lot of original horror being made all the time GO WATCH IT. This movie will make loads of money and might actually be good.
The original may be a classic but IT IS DATED and IT IS NOT SCARY ANYMORE.
youre right people do "look down their noses" but its a fair point...the original was a seminal movie, clever and interesting...this one looks (as far as we can all tell from the trailer) like a poor movie...the issue is that its a deliberate remake using the same narrative but making it like every other dull generic horror movie...why not just make another horror movie?
Ash White They are making other horror movies. Loads of them.
The whole point of a remake is to take a dated movie that has run out of steam and bring it's story to a new generation. This isn't for the fans, the fans have got the original, this is for people of today who look at the original and think "Is this The Muppets?"
I am a fan of the original but I'm not blind to how dated and not scary it is by today's standards.
I'd like to argue with you but I agree with you...mostly, but I think it's a waste of time and money. I don't see why modern audiences wouldn't like it/find it interesting/scary...that makes no sense to me.
Ash White A lot of people are saying it's a waste of time and money which I don't understand :) The profit on this film is guaranteed. They will make a lot of money on this.
If anything the success of this remake will encourage movie goers to go see other horror movies. This is a good thing, people! Support it and we'll get more horror with bigger budgets and so forth.
Hmmm tbh i could live without horror movies. I used to think it was a vibrant genre but I unno, just seem pretty generic....

Love the cast. And the story doesn't seem that bad

that was a creppy part in the movie
Some scenes from original are not recreated in this movie, but some other things are tributes to them. For example, when Kendra is tucking Madison in, they start counting how many times Kendra kisses Maddie's doll in unision. The way they do it is absolutely same as when Steven and Robbie count seconds between lightning and thunder and in both cases the final count is three. Not to mention that right after that Griffin comes in and says "Storm is coming closer", the same line Robbie said to his parents in original.
Amazing special effects but its a grave shame to waste them on such a ridiculously crappy script!!!! This movie was a complete waste of time.

Not even close to the original. And they ruined the best jump scare by showing it in the trailer...good job!
I feel like this movie's main flaw, especially in comparison to the original film, is it's lack of heart. Sure, everyone makes fun of Steven Spielberg for being over sentimental in his movies, but without that strong family bond there is no conflict in this story. The family here lacks chemistry, and that makes us care less and less about their plight as the film goes on.
I guess I'll check this out right now. This better not bore me.
This scared me so much, when i was 5 and saw the trailer in a movie theater
Happy 40th Birthday to the Original Poltergeist I movie (1982) which will ALWAYS be the best. In most cases, remakes are never as good as the originals. They are just meant to make money without having to come up with a new original story.
