Unfortunately, I don't have any constructive advice for you, cuz I think the reason we get along so well is that we are both intuitives. It's not that we stop being polar opposites when it comes to this feeling and thinking thing, it's just that thanks to both being N doms we enjoy it because we understand where the other one is coming from. I think that being N dom just helps you to lay back and appreciate other personalities while knowing that you would 100% do things differently. @@jennabonnichsen of course meeting the match of you, who feels like you acts like you is incredible too. It gives you that comfort, courage and rhythm naturally. but the opposite person can make you see things differently especially when you think about we’re living in a world of so many different people who are opposite. But I think this is the nature it is. If anyone work on themselves and the communication, bond they have more consciously, you can make things i think so much more different than the reality you have. of course there will be misunderstandings and pain on the way, but isn’t it exilarating and exiting? to find something you haven’t even looking for I think is a reality changing thing completely. but of course if anyone willing to see that and and brave and ready enough to get out their comfort zone bravely, from the things you use to. but you know a little pain doesn’t worth it? even though things don’t go right at the end (cause let’s be honest things don’t go the way we want them to be always) but we all suffer for some reason. why shouldn’t it be this journey? but I think the pain comes from cause we run away from ourselves, we run away from the feeling it is we feel within, the feeling we’re gonna face. we run away from the meaning we put on things, the tags and this thing is totally consciousness, thinking. cause mind works this way, with duality like the nature it is. we just don’t see the things the way it is.
It is actually pretty plain but mind just talking. sometimes (and by sometimes im talking about maybe a lifelong journey) it gets a certain amount of effort and awareness to make everything plain and magnificent again. like the childhood. pure and joyful with no reason. just comes within. sometimes I can’t exactly explain things and sometimes I be so down. but then I get cheerful out of a sudden. without any reason, like the children themselves and that gives me strength. to be able to see things gives me strength. this idea of things gives me strength and hope for seeing and accepting the things the way it is. Not with pity or any negative feelings along the way just accepting magnificently things the way it is. cause in this weird world even the pain you have is magnificent. Just part of something.

but maybe you’re right maybe we shouldn’t be rush things out and with a person like us and that person can make the growth done for both of these people more naturally with our own pace.
I’ve been in this paradox? for a while and I have been questioning these things in real life. But I do really feel we value the same things and we are the same person at inside, internally. But the way our personalities are different. The methods we’re using is different. The perspective we have on things is kinda different. the vibration we have is different (the vibe?). I feel like he’s keeping things, the energy at himself and I’m different, opposite. Not so different but different.

  • @docmars
    @docmars 3 года назад +173

    A quick guide:
    - *I vs E* -- the _style of processing_ the following (think internal vs. external expression of)...
    - *N vs S* -- alignment on sense of humor, interests/hobbies, agreeing on what is "normal" vs. unconventional, new ideas vs. predictability, adventure vs. tradition
    - *F vs. T* -- empathy vs. hard facts, comfort & safety vs. logic & solutions, true understanding vs. ideas, harmony vs. action, tactfulness vs. raw communication, authentic living (this makes me feel alive) vs. utilitarianism (this works well for me)
    - *P vs. J* -- letting it roll vs. accountability, being late vs. being on time, comfort in chaos vs. comfort from order, ruffling feathers vs. staying in line, class clown vs. teacher's pet
But pay close attention to the last cognitive function of each type. The ENFP's is (Si) or Internal Sensing. They need to order their world. They need stability. However, they struggle to make it happen and feel insecure about it. Who can help order their world without pushing too many buttons? An ISFJ would drive an ENFP nuts if they're insecure, yet bring a strength in having predictable order and tradition in their lives, while the ENFP will be driven to adventure and shaking things up when they need to.
INFPs share the same functions as ENFPs, but are a little better with (Si) and can bring just the right amount of order without overdoing it.
So, hypothesis: 3rd functions help fulfill the needs of a weaker 4th function. We should test this out!

I am an ENFP who happily functions as a magnet for, predictably, INTJs. Me and my current INTJ are 2 years in December. We are both ambitious and goal oriented, and help each other grow. He has learned that showing emotion is ok, that when I’m distressed thinking for me does not help, and he is much more outgoing and sociable than when we first met. I’ve learned to be a bit more organized, and use my big picture perspective to come up with solutions to problems, instead of only analyzing how the problems came to be, then not knowing what to do with that information.
One thing that I will say about the romanticized ENFP/INTJ pairing: watch out for differences in power dynamic. In a parent/child setting, the parent needs to let their decision-making opposite child learn the time management habits that work best for them. Their parents’ method is not the only correct one. In a relationship, if you feel like you’re doing all the talking, I can almost guarantee it’s because the other party feels silenced or drastically taken aback by something you’re saying. Slow down and take the time to articulate yourself well, and check in with them, ask questions and actively listen to their answers.

Not in my experience (intp). I feel like other intp's are almost better versions of myself, that can really help me to progress (and, hopefully, I can make them grow too). I find it nice to talk with someone similar, as I can (as I call it) "mirrorize" stuff, aka talk or hear about the other's problem and try to rationally solve them, just to figure out that I had the exact same trouble. Anyway this thing is purely from friendships instead of couple relations, so idk if that changes something. However, I find the company of people with similar results to personality tests (and people like me overall) pretty funny, nice and useful
Edit: Just to clarify... this has nothing to do with romantic relationships. There is zero romantic or sexual interest (at least from what I can acknowledge) between me and any other intp I've met. Anyway, I'm unable to discard it, and this comment seemed to mean feelings in general, including the idea of just being friends

ENFP female married to an ENFJ male, its a great match ❤ Both types can handle intensity, have the same empathetic vision of the world, can get deep and goofy at the same time, have this childlike spirit and also really feel and concern for the problems of humanity, putting our values above everything. The best match in my opinion. (Also because I am disorganised as hell and ENFJ can help me not be so chaotic) And yes, Frank is right, when you have two feelers, one will have to compromise and be the thinker, in our case it’s me 😩 I turn my “ISTJ mode” and deal with documents, finances, etc… but as an ENFP, its easy for me to “pretend im super interested” on these “serious adult stuff” for a minute, and he as an ENFJ can help me organise a schedule and have a… actual sense of time (which I don’t). @@theoristsophist3304 Truth! There's no getting around that with an INFP (I am one)!
Usually it's because an INFP has discovered an insecurity that's haunting them and they need time to process it thoroughly to get to a place where they feel comfortable with normal life again. Avoiding that personal time only makes it worse, with the risk of that insecurity or "demon" exploding later, which nobody wants.
The best thing you can do is support that alone time and pivot your life temporarily to focus on YOU and seek interests, hobbies, other friends who can fill the gaps of missing your INFP partner. Keep letting them know you care, and that you're available to talk and process -- any topic is fair game. Even better, make plans with them a few days/weeks into the future. Once we've internalized our commitment to something, we have a harder time canceling those plans and understand that those plans are, in part, supporting that person.
This is all easier said than done. I dated another INFP once, and ran into the same struggles because I was so fixated on her and all I wanted to do was spend time with her.
At the _very least_ an INFP should be good at communicating and thoughtful about it. That makes all the difference.

As a female ENFP, I can attest to this analysis. All the men I have been really compatible with have been INTJs or ISTJs. I am married to an INTJ, and I LOVE it!!! I love him. We’ve been married 30 years and we have the most compatible relationship I’ve ever been in.
He gets how I think, and I get how he makes decisions. He thinks I’m kooky and fun, and I appreciate that he has more executive functioning in his pinky toe than I have in my whole body. He gets on my nerves when he’s going hard with questions because he’s “just trying to understand.” But it feels like an attack or criticism. And I get on his nerves when I’m telling too many details in a story and I’m bouncing around and not making sense.
But overall, we have a fabulous relationship and I’m so thankful to have ended up with one of those rare INTJs. When I had a crush on Spock in 4th grade, I should have known I would end up with someone like him. 😂😂😂 🖖🏼

    It's been so complimentary.
We like to sit and discuss things for hours over drinks and make great companions on adventures because I keep important things organized and they keep me spontaneous.
We offer each other growth and both like to analyze and discuss everything under the sun, while offering some different insights.
I love learning and pondering everything so I love INTP intelligence and knack for understanding and explaining.
The growth part comes with bumps because TP can hurt my FJ feelings a lot and FJ can frustrate the TP.
Which is basically all the points you made in the video.
As INFJ, I married an INFP and we felt so understood and seen by each other, it allowed such a closeness. But both being INFs, weakend us too because sometimes we needed a contrasting personality to help pull us out of our darker lower feelings.
It sure feels great to be around another INF because much of my family is very different personality types and I always felt like there was something faulty about me until I learned about the types and learned to appreciate my strengths and functions.

I'm an INTP with an INTJ and it's the most healthy relationship I've been in. We both have Autism, which helped- we're not worried about too much logic leading to bluntness- we're always blunt with each other and people around us. If we have a problem, we solve it, or compromise. We rarely do though, we have similar interests and similar ways of processing things- objectivity is best, drama is unnecessary, people are generally bastards and we both happen to get lost in our specialised subjects. The main difference is that his are generally career or future based, like taking up graphic design, mine are because they seemed interesting, like Victorian floriogrpahy.
We're absolute stereo types- he's doing a degree in further maths and I'm doing a degree in sociology and a dissertation on Harry Potter. Not to toot my own horn, but we were essentially the two smart kids in school and we bonded over that- we'd play candlelit chess, scrabble and countdown together and eat a homemade meal in the privacy of our houses, maybe read a book together outside or go star gazing, where he's listing off the constellations and I'm trying to create new ones. We're pretty similar, but it's working so far :)

ESTJ here married to ESFJ for 30 years. It took a looonnnggg time for me to even comprehend and accept that emotional decision making was even a real thing. And feelers getting their feelings hurt when thinkers are thinking is spot on. *BUT* Where there are two people willing to see things from another’s perspective, growth and adaptation can happen. And yes, it took a long time, but I feel like I appreciate his perspective when it comes to adding feelings to the discussion. And, for his part, he has learned that he’s going to give over sometimes and just let me run my “efficiency” program. Feelings will never be my go-to default, but I at least can consider now how decisions will impact the “feelers”. But I’m also sure that our similarities in other areas of our personalities (shared values, love of traditions, humor, and life goals) got us through the rough patches. I feel like we are both better and stronger for listening and learning from each other. ♥️
