I’m a writer and I get the same existential crisis whenever I get to the scene where the two characters that have been slowly drawn together need to get together! It’s my favorite thing to write so I should be eager but instead I doubt that I’m good enough to pull it off! But you’re right as soon as I take a deep breath and listen to my intuition and shut out the outside voices I know it will work out.
Beautiful paintings! Magpies truly are incredibly beautiful birds. They are also the meanest, most aggressive birds. They've attacked my cat and dog as well as the hawk and owl that live in my yard. Gutsy birds, those magpies. 20:38
I'm anxious until it's done! I used to be too paralyzed to even try, but I've gotten so much better about pushing through that since I started bullet journaling. It helps to have a deadline to complete the art and that if it doesn't turn out great no one but me has to know. And your videos, along with many others in the community have provided so much inspiration and encouragement. Also, thank you for recommending Taking Charge of Adult ADHD, it was excellent.
I also feel EXACTLY like this when I paint.. there's alwaysss always always that doubt, and then I just go and it's like it just magically goes on somewhat auto-pilot. So glad I'm not the only one :)
4:40 if you ever get anxious about starting the "main event", just take a moment and read these comments or watch this clip. They will remind you that you are prepared! You've done the research, you've done the pencil sketch and over the years you've gotten the experience. You are no longer pretending to be good... your are now accomplished! Own it! 💖🌞🌵😷
I have recently joined the bullet journal world. I’ve been binging all your videos and while I am no where near your calibre, I have enjoyed learning from you. Thanks for the journey 💜
Woah they turned out amazing! I totally have that pause right before I teach a sewing lesson “like do I actually know what I’m doing? Am I going to be able to teach them how to sew a quilt coat or a hoodie?” And then I start talking and it feels totally fine all at once in a rush of calm!!
Haha yes, I used to feel this way before every ballet class when I was teaching! A moment of doubt before I remembered I’d been taking ballet for almost 20 years and definitely knew what I was talking about lol 😂
🍀 happy birthday month!! 🌿this theme is such a treat, magpies are some of my favorite birds! love how you incorporated that iridescent feel of their feathers 🐦✨ i have a very social couple nesting in my garden and they're so cute. they always pop up when i come home after work. i also have a rock collection on a windowsill that i rotate, and they love sitting on the outside and checking it out.
I love that you are facinated by magpies, I remember staring at them as a child and thinking they were so pretty. Then as I got older, I learned the not so nice idea that they are 'gaudy garbage birds' and that connotation kinda ruined it for me. I feel like this is healing that and I relate to the love of shiny things. :)
Thank you! I love how the gold watercolour looks in person, but it can be so challenging to pick it up accurately on camera 😅 the shifting angle helps to see how the paint picks up the light and shimmers/shines ❤️
Beautiful in its simplicity. Creatives must often hush the inner critic. You are not alone in powering through. Just have to keep going whenever they whisper.
i’m new to your channel and even though i got here through your book videos (as a bookworm myself) this was so nice to watch!! i’m loving all of your content and your art turned out absolutely beautiful 🤍
Love it! Beautiful birds! In my school area we have lots of trees and also a bunch of mainly squirrels 🐿️ and magpies, other then that I rarely ever see them in Austria 😊 Definitely a color palette for me 😅
This is absolutely beautiful! I grew up in Montana where magpies are plentiful. We referred to them as dirty birds, they are SO loud and I never liked them. You have me rethinking them! 🙂 I miss seeing you create your husband’s bujo spreads.
Thank you so much! Aw that makes me sad ❤️ they can definitely be loud sometimes, but we have crows here and they’re way louder so maybe that’s part of it. I’ve always loved birds of all kinds and found them so beautiful and interesting! He’s been doing his own super simple setups lately ❤️ I shared a few on Instagram as reels a little while ago, and will likely do it that way again if I do any setups for him in the future!
Definitely a Level 3 here. I did my first full annotation on If We Were Villians by M. L. Rio and I'm currently doing one is Create Anyway by Ashlee Gadd. For If We Were Villians I had post-its that I could write my thoughts on, then fold them up and label them as personal thoughts. I would also do the same for new vocabulary with a Post-it and the definition on there. I would then write the word on the tab as well. Thanks for some more tips, looking forward to doing more annotation as I am able to!
Happy Birthday month! August is a good month. I also have a birthday this month. I absolutely love this theme. I recently was looking for bird stickers for my journal but none were super appealing. I love this style.
I’ve been looking forward to this video for like a week now and it did not disappoint! I loooove the colors you went with. In my opinion blue is the perfect color for august and for us Leos xD
Beautiful theme. ❤ I absolutely have the same "what if I've forgotten how to paint?!" existential crisis on almost every painting - generally at the point I've finished the sketch and am about to start applying actual paint. 😆
Happy birthday! I have a fall foliage planned for next month (which I was going to suggest but you've probably done that), but I realized it's my bujo anniversary next month, and I want to try and do some kind of comparison... but I've no idea how. I could go back and remake the harvest artwork on the calendar I was so proud of, but that's just remaking it. Have you ever done a comparison or some kind of side by side view of your bujo-ing progress/changes? If you were going to do one, what might you do?
As an Australian, I was so confused as to why magpies were perceived as beautiful - turns out, Australian Magpies are just black and white, whereas northern hemisphere magpies are actually very beautiful!
I didn’t realize that! It’s always interesting to learn about differences like that around the world. I wonder why that variation occurred evolutionarily 🤔 I might have to go down a research rabbit hole!
I love this theme, it really looks like stained glass! This isn't entirely related to this specific video, but have you ever tried Beam Paints' watercolors? They're made in Ontario from local pigments by a First Nations family, they're plastic free, and I personally absolutely LOVE the quality and brilliance of their paints. I feel like it's the kind of company you'd probably like to buy from!
I had t considered that but you’re totally right! Definitely a stained glass vibe ❤️ Oo thank you for the suggestion! I’ll definitely check them out. It can be hard to find paints that don’t contain animal products so I’ve had to stick with bigger brands so far but I’d love to support a small First Nations owned business!
@@PlantBasedBride ah right, I didn't think about that... I think some of their paints contain local honey... They're very open about the contents and origin of their paints' ingredients though, so you should be able to identify if any of their paints are vegan pretty easily!
Elizabeth, will you please respond to this comment with a link to the video you reference about how to set up your weekly tabs, etc.? Thanks! I'd like to watch that video.
Wow, it never occured to me that magpies can be a source of inspiration. In my culture they're considered dirty, "vain" birds bc they steal shiny things from people to build their nests.
I feel like so many birds get bad reputations like this. Seagulls, Canadian Geese, and pigeons probably have the worst reputations here in Canada but I’ve always been partial to birds in general. I loved living in Toronto because I’d say hi to all the pigeons just hanging out on the sidewalk on my way to work 😂❤️

The green weeklies make my nature-loving heart so happy! P.S. My current Bujo is green with gold mushrooms, too!

Absolutely love the magpie paintings! They're perfect!
🎉 Happy Birthday Beautiful 🎉 very lovely spread. Reminds me of the Asian wood block art.
Thank you! Oo, I’ll have to look up block art, it sounds right up my alley ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride you will love it!!

this cover page is one of my favorite's that you've done! it's so pretty, very well done!
Oh wow, thank you so much 🥺❤️
Everytime I watch your videos, I feel like learning how to draw & paint.
The spreads turned out so beautiful. ❤❤
Aw thank you so much! You should go for it, if it interests you ❤️
I’d love to see the actual planning you do to, not only the set up. Would you pleeeease?? Love everything you do🧡
