Thank-you sooooo much for posting this! I love my Inka gold and many of my containers needed rescuing! One is literally hard like a puck! Patience I am sure is what I will need... Off I go! thanks again.... Love love love your work!
I recently discovered that all my Inka Gold bottles were dry! Luckily I remembered you Heather having done a video on rescuing them. I tried it, it was challenging at times since I thought adding water was turning the well ground powder into pebbles like rounds. Then I realized I needed more water to smoosh them and in the end, success!! I also added glycerine and Lavender essential oil. I didn't know how much of each but kinda guessed. It does smell divine! My gold Inka paste is now back to smooth paste, only thanks to you Heather Tracy - the genius!!
Thank you! I was so frustrated with my inka gold drying out
and yet could not throw it away! I will be trying this.
I'm glad you kept your InkaGolds, Rita...it will take a bit of work, but you'll rejuvenate 'em! xoxo
Going to s do this right now! I have 4 that are unusable, thanks so much 🌹
Thank you for this awesome rescue info! I have some that are dried up too and so glad I haven't thrown them out! I'm going to do this! Thank you Heather! :)
Hi LaDon! I'm super glad you didn't toss 'em...that's a lot of $ down the drain, my friend. Get ready for a messy session, then you'll be back in business! xox
I bet it is messy but I know it'll be worth it! Thank you! :)
Thanks so much for sharing
Thankyou! I got into my stashes the other day and I wanted to cry!!! Now I have happy tears.
###Your awesome
Yay! Happy tears and resurrected Inka Gold - life is good, girl! xoxo
Thanks!! 😁
Thank you Heather, I`m a number in the line, too , and this great advise will be used in my house, too :-) So thank you dearest friend, it will be good to get them working again, together with other kind of dried out paints, maybe, also .... HUGS to you , xxx
Dorthe! Hello, darling. Yes! Now we can experiment with ALL our old art supplies - after all, if they are unusable, what have we got to lose? Sending you hugs right back! xox
Thank you. You have the nicest voice too.
You are SO welcome, Laura! We can't be throwing these wonderful products away! And what a nice thing to say...thank you, my friend. xox
Oh ugh!...wish I would have seen this video a few months ago when I re-organized my craft room because I threw away 8 or 9 containers that were hard as a rock. Thanks for sharing, saving this to my Pinterest board for future reference!
Oh, no! I'm so sorry, Kim. Dang, that's a lot of money out the window, my friend. I just got super stubborn and refused to let 'em go....hence the HACK! xox
Thanks for this video was going to toss mine works a treat
OH! thank you!!! it's a good idea, it's so helpful for me.Thank you for sharing!!
Excellent! I'm so glad you've found this helpful, Liette! xox
Pinning this for sometime in the future. Btw I love that blue 💙
Isn't that blue fantastic, Donna? Hope this one helps you out someday. xox
Awesome! 😃 Tfs hugs Renee
Cool. Glad it's useful, Renee! xox
Great to know. I have one container of Inka Gold that's beginning to get hard.
Then catching it now, before it becomes hard as a rock will make your life easier, Marilyn! Yay! xox
spritz the Inka Gold with rubbing alcohol to disinfect and keep a little wet too, rather than water. OR use distilled water instead of tap water.
Thanks - good ideas. xoxo
Question... Do you spray with rubbing alcohol at the very end when the product is soft? Tia
@@mariarizzo9898 supposedly it's to kill bacteria that came from your fingers. It doesn't matter if the product is soft or not. You definitely don't want mold on it though, which will happen if your fingers are dirty when you use them to apply the product
I use a q-tip
Wow- great info! I am so glad I found this and am pinning for future reference. I think I will try it on my hard Nuvo Mousses- any reason why it would not work on them? I do not have the lavender essential oil- where can I find that? Or is it OK to do this without? I am a new RUclipsr and really enjoy great tip videos like this one!
Hi Karen - this WILL work for Nuvo Embellishment Mousses! I have a friend who revived hers after watching this....GO for it!
And the lavender essential oil? Not necessary - but it has two benefits: firstly, it smells HEAVENLY, and secondly, it will inhibit bacterial growth. I get mine via Amazon....here's my affiliate link if you'd like to peek: amzn.to/2vF8Ax2
Thank you for sharing this, can I do this with Baroque Arts gilders wax too? That one comes in a shoe polish tin, but 9/10 it is always dry when you get them, hard to work with, I do not want to mess them up though, though I would ask to see if you have done it before I waste money trying to fix it. Those puppies are expensive.
Hey Kelly! Yep - Gilder's Paste - same issue - here's the remedy: ruclips.net/video/sRS9e3zBv_A/видео.html
Very timely. Do you boil tap water or distilled? Also I saw you put your finger in the pot. I thought that would cause mold. If not, I'd like to know because it's a pain to have to scoop out first with a palette knife. Thanks.
Hey Brenda - either boiled or distilled will suffice. The main point is to not introduce loads of bacteria to the mix...and you're right, best practice is to never put your fingers in the container - thus the Lavender Essential Oil - the antibacterial properties of this should reduce the risk of mold! xox
Any reason you can’t use distilled water. That helps keeping mold out of chalk paint.
No reason at all - that's a great idea.
This is wonderful, and so helpful! Thank you very much! I purchased Metallic Lustre and it came all dried out. What made you use mineral spirits on gilders paste and glycerine on the Inka Gold? Would one of these methods work on my Metallic Lustre? I don't know the chemistry involved of why one method works with a specific product and another method for a different product. I really appreciate this information. I hate to waste money on supplies that come flawed.
Hi Dorothy! I'm so glad you found this useful.
Here's the GOOD NEWS: the Glycerin/Water/Essential Oil Method will work on your precious Metallic Lustres! Yay!
And here's why the separate formulas:
Inka Gold & Metallic Lustre are water based waxes - they will NOT play well with petroleum based solvents.
Gilders Paste IS a petroleum based product, and therefore will NOT play well with water based solvents.
And wasting $? Ain't nobody got time for that business, my friend! xox
I'm so glad I found this. My metallic Lustres are drying out too and I couldn't find help anywhere to fix it. Thankyou so so much.
Just came across your video, so glad I did. Recently opened my inkas and they are all dried out. How long does this method last if you don’t use them for a while? I came across other videos where folks leave a baby wipe on the top before closing. Do leave a wipe on your? Thanks for sharing this info. Starting to view your other videos, definitely enjoying them.
Hi Mercedes! It's been 5 months since I refreshed my Inka Golds with this method - they are still moist and fresh. No, I don't add a Baby Wipe, but that might be a good idea. I think that adding the Glycerine really helps to retain the moisture. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend! xox
Thanks! Going out to pick up my glycerin, already have my much loved lavender.
Have you tried putting it in the microwave?...Just wondering what would happen!!
Hi Patricia...now there's an idea. And, short term, it might make them usable. But, the loss of moisture from the original state would have to be addressed for the consistency to actually change 'back' to 'creamy'. Maybe a combo of heat + moisture? I'll give it a go sometime! Thanks for pitching in - that's a great idea! xox
OMG, NO! I did it and it foamed up like one of those volcano experiments in school! It was in there for maybe 10 seconds. Please, don't try the microwave!
I really dont think that putting it in the microwave can revive any dried up medium. It WILL MAKE IT DRIER! Please DONT Try it.
Heather, Thank you for this video. Can you provide an update on your results now that it's been over 6 months ago? How have they held up? Are they still pliable? Inquiring minds would love to know! :)
Thank you
Hi CalicoEyez65! Thanks for watching...I just checked 'em - still moist, still workable. Yay!
Great information, thank you so much for responding!
Thanks, I'm a recent subscriber and fan and really appreciate the follow up.
WOW!! I wonder if this would work with my Dylusions paints... some of them have dried up even though they've barely been used... and I hate to throw them out... maybe I'll try it and see... What do I have to lose, right?
Not having any of those luscious Dylusions paints, I'm unable to say whether this will work, Shirley... but I'm with you, can't hurt to try! Let me know the outcome, my friend. xox
Dylusions are water based. Dyan's tip to prevent them drying out is to spritz water in the container before closing it. This puts back the moisture lost while they are open. She also recommends not leaving the containers open for extended periods. I now do this with all my acrylics paints now and they seem to get less caked and dried out. I have no idea if you can rehabilitate dried dylusions paint though. Let me know if you can.
Hi Heather thank you for this tutorial- I am have a difficult time finding the Inka Golds ... I ordered some from amazon and the seller never send them .. can you recommend seller? Thank you again
Hi Lisa...you are going to LOVE Inka Gold! Joann.com carries it - here's my affiliate link: go.magik.ly/ml/bxp9/ xox
Hi sweetie I have a question, will this method work on my Nuvo Mousse? Mine is all dried up and I want to fix them. Thank you.
Hey, girl! And the answer is YES! Go fix 'em. It WILL work. xoxo
@@Thicketworks Yay! thank you so much sweetie!
I came thisclose to throwing my Inca gold products out!
Well, now you don't have to - yay! xoxo
