This is WAY late, but I've met the guy and he's very cool irl. Wasn't creepy at all. Very friendly guy knew a shitload about gear. pretty good player too. Had the balls to get on stage with Fortus and Phil X and take a solo.
@@imnotme1657 Yeah my bad, this wasn't really fair of me. 5 years ago I guess I was more concerned with making jokes on the internet and didn't think that the guy may read it. Upon a rewatch his enthusiasm for his company really shows (didn't know he was the owner either) Reminds me of Paul Reed Smith and Diane Ponzio who used to rep for Martin, people who are passionate about their brands and making the best products possible. I've seen Phil X play live with The Drills and know what a beast of a player he is so fair play to him too for having the balls to play a solo after him as you said.
I have never wanted to buy something more than I wanted to buy this after watching one of the NAMM videos. The other retailers could take a good lesson from these guys. Both the pitch and the guitar playing was top level. Great ad and a great video.
I started out with my dad's old Supro coronado and a Gibson ES-125TD, and an Vox wow/fuzz peddle wish I still had it all.and yeah the old one had seperate channel sections and 2 red lights one for standby and one for power on.
I think Phil X is great. I think Supro amps are great. But the dirt tone in this video sounds like a fuzz box to me, and I do not think fuzz boxes are great. Obviously it's just my opinion. But Phil X sounds waay better through his Evil Robot.
Could be the p90's interacting with the amp?? Maybe the different tubes could be a factor too. Idk Imo I was always more about Jimmy Page's Marshall sounds
+Jeremiah Mountain no. It's Supro, they simply messed up. It looks great. But they botched the power section. I had a boutique builder build me a 1957 Supro 1690T with a 1x12" and 6L6 power section. It is the Jimmy Page tone
I realize this isn't competing for the same market type but, if Dave Friedman was cool enough to build me a signature amp let alone release it as a full production model. I damn sure wouldn't be at a booth for any other amp company at NAMM.
What kind of "SG" is Phil X playing? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I couldn't read the headstock, and if Supro makes guitars, I'm not aware of that. What brand is it? Thanks
Couldn't have chosen a better guitarist than Phil X! He basically shows on all the Fretted Americana vids that theres nothing better for classic amp tone than a small tube combo pushed to the max & a great guitar with quality pots.....Now if only Magnatone would reissue "the Tonemaster" we could all get massive tone rigs of doom!!!
This is the first video with Phil X in where I didn't want to kill him after a minute. probably because he didn't say anything, I could get used to this.
Phil x is to aggressive in his technique, he can't keep his right hand picking on the strings! However I will give him a thumbs up for getting in with Supro, they are great amps.
that sounds absolutely atrocious. I really like the Supro amps, but it sounds like the guitar is not matched well to the amp and that the guy recording it did it on an iphone that was still in his pocket. hopefully this is not a good representation of the amp
Aside from the ridiculous six string harangue from yet another dynamically challenged ego driven guitar player...Supro makes some mighty fine sounding little amps.
Dave, stop staring into the camera. It's creepy. Also - the 'marketing guy' routine was sucky. Let someone else face the camera (or go on a course). I'm terrible on camera. That's why I don't do it!
The supro guy is a scary.
+Guitar Stu he's high!
He's on acid
He never blinks
Yes but he has a really cool "play room" he put in under his garage where guests can hang out and chill. There has to be a better way to phrase that.
He's on dat white magic
he stares at the camera in a way that makes me feel somehow violated...
I like how Richard fortus is just chilling in the room the whole time
Supro dude is tripping balls. Look at those pupils
Coin Purse.. Ha!
Lesson learned... If you want to sell a product well, make it sound amazing by having Phil X use it. That man is king!
Or Richard Fotus
Supro dude be creeping me out.
The guy from supro was legit reading the description out of a book. Lol
I love how hyped the Supro guy is. You just don't see it much anymore.
Man the supro rep is real knowledgeable about the products but I sure would've liked him to blink once in a while. Creeped me the hell out.
Samodnar owner not rep. Yes I know 2 yrs late but just saw it.

@@Samodnar Yeah man the vid angle is a little strange for him because the camera is set up to turn and get Phil. They did him dirty lol
I imagine that there are mountains of cocaine at NAMM...
only watched the vid for Phil X
Me too. That other guy looks high af
+cornelius larsen if you are around guitars and you arent high somthing wrong with u
Me too, and supro of course
I have never wanted to buy something more than I wanted to buy this after watching one of the NAMM videos. The other retailers could take a good lesson from these guys. Both the pitch and the guitar playing was top level. Great ad and a great video.
Dave's enthusiasm is like Christmas on any given day! Super stoked for all at Supro
I wonder how much cocaine is in circulation during the NAMM show
First thought: "I don't know what to do with my hands..."
Second thought: Phil X killed it! Great demo, awesome sounding amp!
What ever happened to the evil robot?
I'm not going back to check but I do believe that Rich didn't get a single "far out" out
I started out with my dad's old Supro coronado and a Gibson ES-125TD, and an Vox wow/fuzz peddle wish I still had it all.and yeah the old one had seperate channel sections and 2 red lights one for standby and one for power on.
I just bought one 4 days ago. I LOVE this amp!!
Phil must have Laryngitis?
Richard fortus RYTHEM GUITARIST FOR GUNS N ROSES is just chillin in the background
What song is Phil playing at about 2:40?
I love everything about this video. Pigtronix pedals are great, Phil X is a badass and that amp sounds killer!
By far my fav Supro Amp.
Isn't Dave Koltai with Pigtronix?
+ehowie He also owns and operates Supro USA.
+Premier Guitar Cool, thanks for replying.
+Premier Guitar I think you meant “also.” Rest well, folks.
+Robstafarian We're tired from NAMM....
+ehowie Indeed, I am one of the owners of both Supro and Pigtronix. - Dave Koltai
Dave Koltai ALWAYS geeks out.
when are the supro guitars actually going to come out?
what's up with them supro guitars? are they getting built any time soon?
What does it sound like with a humbucker?
YEAH!! rock it man.
hah that last segment of phil x´s playing is just about the coolest thing iv seen
“Woooo Momma” - Supro Guy
And you can see Fortus milling around behind them checking it out lol
love phil x playing and personality.
Of course Richard Fortus is poking around the Supro booth. Sweet.
What guitar is that? It's just awesome! =)
Is it a Italia?
+Serginho Sena It is a Framus.
+Premier Guitar Thanks Premier Guitar!It's gorgeous! =)
+Serginho Sena it's Phil X's signature model, if you're wondering.
this guy is not staring at the camera he is staring at your soul
I think Phil X is great. I think Supro amps are great. But the dirt tone in this video sounds like a fuzz box to me, and I do not think fuzz boxes are great. Obviously it's just my opinion. But Phil X sounds waay better through his Evil Robot.
+budgetguitarist.com I have heard Phil saying that some old amps some fuzziness by design.
sounds like he has his tone knob down on his guitar
It's cuz they are using 6973 power tubes, which is incorrect for this amp. Should be a pair of 6L6 tubes. Give it more grunt and body
"Dave, how's it going?"
Proceeds to say everything had to say for 2 minutes straight.
That Dave guy is so excited. it's actually kinda endearing.
wow great sounding amp, and great price to for a US made one
I realize this isn't competing for the same market type but, if Dave Friedman was cool enough to build me a signature amp let alone release it as a full production model. I damn sure wouldn't be at a booth for any other amp company at NAMM.
Go Phil Go!
Supro Boy grinning into the camera looks like Mr Sardonicus
This amp rocks!
Cranked (like how Phil X is playing it here) is pretty much instant Jack White tone.
The supro guy is just high in conscientiousness
The rep had crazy eyes!
What kind of "SG" is Phil X playing? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I couldn't read the headstock, and if Supro makes guitars, I'm not aware of that. What brand is it? Thanks
Framus guitars
+godfatherNYC A Framus XG :D
Supro do make guitars and Phil's SG is a framus
Thank you guys, I appreciate the responses
+godfatherNYC apparently Phil's guitar is based on Jack Bruce's bass in terms of body shape, apparently
Couldn't have chosen a better guitarist than Phil X! He basically shows on all the Fretted Americana vids that theres nothing better for classic amp tone than a small tube combo pushed to the max & a great guitar with quality pots.....Now if only Magnatone would reissue "the Tonemaster" we could all get massive tone rigs of doom!!!
so..... his last name is X?...........................
The Supro's guy is allucinated...but the Black Magick is a very great amp! Every thing touched by Phil X, is a rock'n'roll screaming machine.
So philx is working with supro?
+najssiness If you watch Frettedamericana vid, he's used Supro amps couple of times in their demos.
+TheZooropaBaby yeah later videos? Cause have watched a lot of videos but not the the latested
I have this Head and playing through my Marshall 2x12 with the PRS C24 I can tell you it does sound better then this.
Great amp sound! Phil X is tops!!!
That Supro-guy is smashed!
homie's got some crazy eyes
So this is where Phil X was in NAMM :)
This is the first video with Phil X in where I didn't want to kill him after a minute. probably because he didn't say anything, I could get used to this.
Love PhilX
2:40 to 2:47
Supro guy has scary crazy eyes
Skip to 2:10 ... then 4:30 ... You're welcome.
STOP LOOKING AT ME
3:26 "wooooooo mama"
or press 7 and then press the back arrow key 5 times.
$14.99 thats cheap xD
+Luke Curtis I'll get 5 x)
Made me laugh so hard
That supro guy looks like the pigtronix one
Same guy.
His eyes......his eyes.....they scare me.
Caraio. ponto final.
Phil x is to aggressive in his technique, he can't keep his right hand picking on the strings! However I will give him a thumbs up for getting in with Supro, they are great amps.
5:08 - 5:11 is just plain terrible.
I think Phi X might be my friend Dav Q? Hahaha
I know phil x can shred but wtf is he doing at 5:07 - 5:11.....it sounded like a dying rat.
I feel violated watching this....
PHIL!!!
I would hit that supro guy right after the recording stuff finished.
This supro guy really creeps me out
the Supro guy and wired
is the supro guy on something? guy seems like he's on a coffee Drip haha :D
Punching the Supro dude in the face would be wrong.
Why is he constantly looking into the camera? creepy
Cocaine is a hell of a drug....
Philllllll
that sounds absolutely atrocious. I really like the Supro amps, but it sounds like the guitar is not matched well to the amp and that the guy recording it did it on an iphone that was still in his pocket. hopefully this is not a good representation of the amp
PHIL X!!!!
nothing special about this amp. I do like supro tho
PHIIILL X YEEEEEASAAAAAAAASA !!!!!!!1!!1
Aside from the ridiculous six string harangue from yet another dynamically challenged ego driven guitar player...Supro makes some mighty fine sounding little amps.
That dude is a bit creepy.
Yikes, Bon Jovi can keep him.
That guy is such a creep.
All I see are pupils.
Dave, stop staring into the camera. It's creepy. Also - the 'marketing guy' routine was sucky. Let someone else face the camera (or go on a course).
I'm terrible on camera. That's why I don't do it!
Stop the squawking and let Phil X do the talking .........with his Guitar!
no wanky solos.sustain .let the notes ring out. I'm not interested in want.
This amp is amazing, pity that guitarist can’t really play and makes it sound horrible.
sounds like a 100 watt wet fart........
Not loving it. Buzzy and harsh. Not to my tastes.
johnsoncm65 the originals are a lot smoother & warmer than this . Personally I think the Dual tone has a nicer sound .
PHIL X!!!
