How is this a surprise to anyone? The rule has been in place for the last 2 years, has been talked about A LOT, even on the broadcast of pro nationals because people were doing this same thing last year, when people seemed to love the idea of amateurs getting a taste before going pro. Why is it now an issue? If Deegan didn't race pro nationals last summer people were saying he was sandbagging, when he did race pro nationals they said he sucked and that he wasn't ready, now he races the amateur nationals and they say he's sandbagging. I'm not even a big fan of the kid, but the fact that people have an issue every time he races is just ridiculous.

The problem isn't with Deegan himself, the problem is that the class system is broken. Last season he was on a factory ride getting paid racing B class. That is laughable, and then local riders sandbag the C class even in non AMA sanctioned races because they are scared to race anything above because they want to go to Loretta's. So now your local C class has the top 5 guys running top B class lap times and would still be competitive and very close to A class lap times. Now your local evens have no classes for riders local riders of moderate speed racing for fun, it's just basically 3 A class races and whoever wins is the one who sandbags harder. Why Deegan is brought up is because it's and example and him and Rider D and all these other guys racing B class when they are maybe a 1 to 2 seconds off the fastest guys there, it trickles down and then the class system is broken

People are acting like he was running top 5 in the moto cross races. People are also acting like he’s a 20 year old kid that isn’t going pro . The longer he waits the more he will be able to hang with the big guys . Dungey waited, kitchen waited and beat jett in a moto this year. Looks like many people in the comments missed the point of the video. Wasn't to hate on Deegan at all he is just a good example to show, and was talking about how the rule book is poorly written. Also highlightrd in the end that the class system is broken. Deegan and many people like him were racing in B class last year and that causes local riders to sandbag C class and it all trickles down from there. No hate to them, they are all doing what they need to do with the system and want to make Loretta's. It just screws up the classes and local races. I just did a local non AMA race and the C class guys were basically the fastest guys. Top 5 in C class would have finished 2-6 in B class and only gotten beat by 1 guys. And A class lap times were 3ish seconds faster than C class top guys. So that leaves no room for any local people racing to have fun, and may as well had 3 A class races because whats the point anymore.

Kid has been on a 250 for a little over a year now. Has Talent and work ethic oozing out of his body. He is not the only rider to have raced 1-2 Pro nationals and go back to the amateurs. The only reason he is getting hate and back lash from everyone because the kids put in the work to be the speed he is at. This just solidifies he ready for the Pros. There is no "sandbagging" what so ever with Haiden Deegan. What Haiden, his dad and his little brother are doing for the sport bringing more attention to the Amateurs and soon to be the pro ranks is nothing short of good.

From what I’m noticing, some may say it’s a good thing or bad thing, is with the amount of people that come to watch Deegan ride, the rules and problems with the rules are finally being brought to light, the good part is with this attention, the sport can grow with the a few tweaks every now and then to rules, I would suggest a rule that states people who have obtained any points in the professional races have to race in the open pro class only and not A class, having A class remain the way to obtain points for the pro card and allowing the kids to build up speed for the open pro class, and gradually increase the speed, this would allow more rides to safely increase there speed and help people become recognised my factory teams making the races the place to get picked up by factory teams and not social media and having deep pockets and connections, theoretically this would also cause an increase in the amount of factory teams racing which would turn the open pro class and A class into try outs for those teams, this would keep people in the sport for racing and people wouldn’t have to make as many sacrifices as they do just to try and make it pro, which again would help the sport grow and separate the pro’s from the amateur, I don’t care about the results that occurred, this is what I am noticing from comments and the rule book being brought to light

This clearly a title grab for deegan even though the rules say he’s eligible “ they also say he is not” it’s like a big bully picking on other kids. Deegan and any current pro for that matter should only race the open pro classes period even if the rules say they are eligible for the A class. These titles look good on a resume but they are a black eye in my opinion from fans point of view. Deegan made a choice to go pro early therefor he has committed to the motocross community he is better that an A class rider his actions has stated I’m a professional. Therefore quit stealing amateur titles and be a pro. I didn’t see Hymas there.

Deegan will be doing supercross futures as the AMA realise what he is but the question is who will be racing against him. Will they actually make the futures class a supercross program for the top youngsters up to 18 years of age or will they do that stupid qualification program that had older amatuer riders trying to qualify for futures.

So in the rules. Points is for outdoor as there is no heat races or Lcq just qualifying. For SX if you make a main you were in top 22 points don't matter. Really should separate that in rule book. Also if you look at fastest lap times in the A and B class races you showed. Every place there is about 2 sec faster in the A rider compared to same position B rider. Consistancy can be all over the place but based on best times they seemed to be in correct class. I believe most of the A riders are pro. So the class being just called A might be just to give them another race. How many of the riders he beat in the A race did he slso race in the Open pro races?

There are places that say he can race 250 Pro Sport and 250 A...but the only rule that say he can't references Open Pro Sport only. However, all A riders are "professional." AMA Pro Racing is a private club that provides a separate licensing. It is similar to the FIA's Super License for Formula 1 competition. You can win Le Mans, but you can't race F1 without a Super License. Well, you can win Dakar, Moto GP, GNCC, or Erzberg...but to race Supercross, you need an AMA Pro License.

@Johnny Hopper They can accumulate up to 25 points and still race amateur races. If they accumulate more than 25 points in motocross or make the main event in SX they can no longer race as an amateur. Also if riders qualify for final 40 in MX1, MX2, MX3 they also lose amateur status.
So keep the points under 25 in MX and SX and don’t make any mains in SX.
A little more specific than this but I’m on the iPad and typing sucks. But this should at least help lead you out of the dark.

The rule is you can't make an sx main event.. says nothing about an outdoor main event. So you can earn upto 25 points from outdoor only.

If a Pro rider raced in 2020 and made more than 25 points, and then didnt make any mains or scored any points in 2021, then he can ride the A/pro sport in 2022, but if he did make a main in 2021 than he can not ride in the A/pro sport!!!

250s are usually faster if ya don't mind grenading one every race. They make 450s for people that don't like replacing parts every 10hrs.
For example.... I weight about 208 in full gear. To haul ass on a 250 I would need to leave it pinned. On the 450 I can braap around 90% of the time. I can feel a difference in my 450s power and clutches in one dune trip.. can only imagine what a real race does to bikes.
