What a fantastic practice technique to omit the repeated chords in the early stages of learning. Thanks Paul!
Stage one: slowly without pedal and without repeating the chords or notes 3 times
Stage two: a little faster with pedal without repeating the chords or notes 3 times
Stage three: a little faster with pedal and with the repeating notes or chords.
Correct me if I'm wrong please
Have a great day !
Thanks a million for making this. So many usefuly tips I wouldn't think of on my own!
Thanks, Sam.
THANK YOU! I have been looking for this for 3 years!! The best tutorial with tips! Mr Barton, you are very awesome
Thanks Paul, by far the best piano tutorial I've ever seen
26:15 Technically excellent play! Extact, at perfect tempo. The best one i've seen on RUclips.
Niet alleen is Paul Barton een geweldig goed pianist maar ook een uiststekend pianopedagoog
Dit was een aangeme verassing
Thank you, and I play in the Russian school of instruction very slowly, separately with the right and then with the left, your informative lesson also opened up opportunities for me as a keyboardist lover. Greetings from Kazakhstan.
Hi Paul,
I've been following you for a while and I really wanted to thank you for all the videos you put online. Particularly for this piece which is one of my favorite since i'm teenager. Thanks to you comments, your playing, the fingerings and the documents you put on the cloud I've almost finished it. Thank you again;) Cordially
This video came just in time as I would be performing this piece for the first time in a concert two days away. Thanks Paul.
How did it go?
@@olyaanisimova1647 it went well, thanks
Paul keeps me motivated in learning this crazy art
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial, Paul. After 65 years of playing (and an MM degree in Piano Performance in the process) I'm FINALLY buckling down to learn this well-known "easy" Rach prelude. Your practice tips, fingerings, etc. are consistent with my own approach to learning the piece, and I appreciate the validation. Your Feurich sounds wonderful !!
paul i follow many many youtubers and social media users actively but you have always stood out to me. your dedication and desire to create such meaningful content not only for personal gain but for the gain of others is amazing. I can tell you are truly an amazing character and would just like to say thank you for everything. keep doing what your doing and i wish you absolutely nothing but the best.
Thank you Paul for another fantastic detailed piano tutorial ! Your videos are truly a gift to any aspiring pianist attempting the beautiful but difficult pieces of the repertoire
Bravo Professor Barton! Absolutely beautiful! I love the way you bring out the melody. Michael
Paul, you are an amazing pianist. Your dedication and hard work is such an inspiration. Keep doing amazing things.
The score with the fingering is so helpful. Thank you, Paul.
Such a cool piece. Like a whole orchestral arrangement crammed into one piano. Really liked the detail with the emphesis on the counter melody in the B part. And beautifully played, of course. 😍
Paul, thank you so much for this. I've been waiting for it since you did the previous performance. I, and my piano in Chon Buri offer you huge kudos. The fingered score is icing on the cake.
Aha ! Brilliant ! I've looked everywhere for finger-marking (middle-section) for this prelude ! Many thanks, Paul !
Thanks so much Paul for a wonderful tutorial. Looking forward to learning this piece!
Excellent teaching, dear Professor Paul Barton. Congratulations from Brazil.
Thank you very much. Especially for the fingering. I'll give it a try. Looks very organized. I really like the way you practiced in the various stages
🎹♥Thank You Paul for sharing your Artistic Vision with us. Loved the video as well as every video you make.
This has helped me tremendously. Thanks for the upload. Spent hours learning !
娘が楽譜やリズムは読めないけど、人が弾く指の動きで覚えて弾けるようになるタイプなのでありがたいです。
Thank you so much Paul. This is a very helpful approach to this piece. Breaking it down in layers like this is a great idea.
Thanks so much Paul. A very helpful practice guide indeed. Your efforts to produce this video are greatly appreciated. 👍
Amazing tutorial of one of my favorite piano pieces. I am only intermediate level but this is definitely on my list to learn some day!
I haven’t gotten through this video yet, but I just wanted to jump on in and say that I really appreciate you talking about pedaling. When teaching myself a piece, I usually look at synthesia videos and in those videos they don’t ever really mention if you need to use the sustain/muffle/soft pedals.
I'm so grateful for this channel!
Priceless and intriguing, masterful ingenuity at play...
Thank you Paul, amazing tutorial!
I don't think I'll ever get to the stage of playing piano where I can learn this, but I love seeing my favorite piece in all of its individual components.
Thank you sooo much Paul, this is absolutely invaluable!
Great video Paul! This is definitely the way to learn this! I did it years ago and remember getting stumped on those repeated notes. I failed to memorise it also which made things worse. I could play it with the music. But it was never secure. This method you show will develop security and ease. And of course memorise the entire thing.
Very helpful, thank you! Your accuracy is amazing, and it is simply about practicing correctly.
I love this piece but it is absolutely exhausting to practice. I keep shelving it and trying to come back to it but I'm not making much progress. I just found this video and I can't wait to watch the whole thing. Thanks Paul!
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
Great tutorial, thanks for uploading!
I love this prelude! I think I'll try to play some bars :) Thank you for your work Paul!
I’ve just bought this piece today ,tomorrow I will start to learn ,I like your play ,very romantic version 💕
Thank you Mr. B, very helpful insights!
Brilliant performance, great tips
Great tutorial! Thx for making this!
Thank you Paul!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and the sheet, helped me a lot!!!
Very helpful video, thanks a lot Paul!!
Paul, you're the best, thank you.
One of Rachmaninoff's "easy" pieces lol.
That's right!
a lot of rachmaninoff is easier than this
Owen Crawford which ones are easier? I would guess the prelude in C sharp minor is easier. What else?
Beth Ann Zaretsky C# minor is actually pretty hard around the middle part. it’s hard to get around the fingerings.
Lucias the Goose especially to get the voicing right
Paul I have already mentioned in another video but could you play Kreisler-Rachmaninoff: Liebesleid, i really like this piece. Thank you in advance.
M2004 I agree
same

Marvelous tutorial by Paul Barton. He makes it sound almost easy, which it is not. Of course, brilliant playing of this extremely difficult Rachmaninoff masterpiece! Also nice reference to Gilels' historic WWII performance. The late and wonderful Gilels also can be see doing this on youtube. (I'll never forget hearing Gilels in the early '60s in Toronto.)
THE FINGERING IS SO USEFUL!!!!!!!!
Thank you Paul.
Thanks Paul !
You're welcome, Alexandre!

Bravo, maestro!
Thank's Mr. Barton, the very true way of learning, God bless You.
Hi Paul, I do not speak English very well, I would like to know if there is any way to introduce subtitles in Spanish, I have always wanted to understand your videos, but the language barrier does not allow it ... thanks for your videos, you are amazing!
Hi - I have tried to make the video text in Spanish for you - sorry for the many mistakes! Hola, soy Paul

How kind, thanks for showing such appreciation for the fans ^^
I can definitely pitch in on some of his future videos! It may not be perfect, but it could help.
I'm going to like as many videos as I can just because you did that
@@PaulBartonPiano Wow you are so kind. I will subscribe and like all your vids!
Very beautiful video ,music, passion and performance.
Thank you for sharing your skills!
Bravo Dear Paul*********
Have a great week!
~Amelia~
Wow, this is *really* good. Still, one doesn't play a piece like this without significant talent and/or effort.
Thank you!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much
i love this video!!
I love this
I love your job. You helped me a lot.
11:20 in the right hand should be la natural instead of sol.
11:46 I love this final part
Thank you so much for the tutorial🤗 your fan from Korea
So coincidence im learning this these few days
Tutorial on Chopin nocturne opus 48 no 1???
I want this for the tutorial for the Doppio Movement.
Thanks
Thanks for this tutorial
You're welcome, Ethan.
Beautiful, i am French, and I don’t speak English very well, but THANK YOU
Thanks Maestro for this tutorial . Very helpful. Just a thing: in bar 46 you highlighted the notes D, C, B flat and then C in bar 47 for the upper melody with the right hand and I think that the right melody to highlight is with the quavers D, E flat, F and then quarter G in bar 47. It's always ascendant even in the bass and the accent in the sheet is at the base of the notes.
Thanks, this is exactly what I was wondering about!
YES!
Maravilloso ❤
8:00 thanks for that!
Pls don’t delete thus video in until at least 10 years later. I need some time....
So it’s been 3 years how you getting on 😂
Thank's
Bravo, Paul, BRAVO!! You are a genius and an incredibly wonderful and generous person. I'm learning this piece and this instruction is worth a million dollars to me, I swear!! You play this piece as well as anyone!
I do have a question: If you were handed this piece today, and if you practiced it for 2 hours every day starting now, how long would it take a great player such as yourself to play it as well as you play it now?
it would probably take a month of practice to get it to sound good.
