Dustboy1978, He closed the show with a version of JJ Leaves L.A. that was emotive AND spacey… the highlight of the show was a soul-stirring take on Where Will I Be, which I had only known as an Emmylou Harris tune til then… A really good version of Shine, as well… I love that tune, Frozen… Thanks for your comment!
TBH I hadn’t really paid much attention to DL since that show, but I first heard Frozen a couple years ago and it still makes the hair stand up on my neck. I’m starting a dive into DL’s catalogue, I’ll start with the titles you listed. Thanks!
Cant figure out how sometimes the steel's louder volumes dissolve into a rich harmonic distortion and sometimes it just gets louder but stays clean. Two volume pedals for two sends? It just drips harmonic beauty.
Been a fan ever since I heard Brian Enos Silver morning, which I could play over and over. If anyone knows any similar tracks to that by Daniel please let me know. ❤
He's also an amazing producer working on several albums by Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, U2's Unforgettable Fire and Achtung Baby (and others), Bob Dylan on Time out of Mind, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, and many others.
There’s a preamp in the SDD3000 that he has set hot which drives his cranked Vox AC30 and Fender 5E3. Plus the George L E-66 pickup in his Sho-Bud is a humbucker that runs on the hot side.
I believe this may be "The Maker" ruclips.net/video/w-JtAcpKtYQ/видео.html. Which was also in the end credits of a great movie.. maybe that billy bob t movie "all right then"
You know, you look at a person and think you've got an inkling of a vague idea of what sort of person they might be. What depth (or not) they might have in them. Not saying that Mr. Lanois' style of dress or whatever is off-putting , not at all. It's just that, I know if I were to see him on the bus, in Seattle say, and not recognize him right away , I'd not imagine this fellow having this sort of music in him. But there you go.
ahhh the classic “yell the chord as you’re playing it”! something bassists everywhere are familiar with
Excellent. Love hearing pedal steel approached and played in new ways!
Gorgeous. Again, the KEXP audio engineers making this sublime.
Thanks KEXP for listing the musicians along with the crew. 🙄
Good lord you people are purveyors of the best there is.
Daniel Quel Ambiance dans ta musique tu nous donne ...wow! La subtilités et sensibilités...encore wow en plus quel maitrise ...

One of my All Time Favorite Shows was Lanois and Tortoise at the Fox Theater in Boulder.
Thanks KEXP. Great recording.
Saw that tour at the Independent in SF. Went to see Tortoise, got my face melted by Lanois.

His stuff with Brian Eno is classic.
DL and Tortoise is like a dream, that's insane. North Americans yall have the best music on Earth
Love the african groove on bass!
Daniel Lanois, voted #1 for doing the Star Spangled Banner. Imagine that in a stadium!
I would cry
this song!!!!!!!!!!! amazing!
A Kaleidoscope of sound and Visual body language just meshing seamlessly together
What a song !! J' ai des frissons ❤️❤️
This is cool.... He played it at Posten in Odense/Denmark, so power and beautiful on a big PA system. Kyle Crane, oh man ! What a drummer
I had to hit Kyle up after seeing this. Amazing drummer.
he better be rocking a blue jean onesie
Brian Blade had the gig before him. Tough act to follow for sure.
I always hit like for this man before I even hear it…
Super. Danke
Gorgeous
Power and Beautiful!

Looks like Marcus Luttrell running that gear in the back...great tune...Lanois is one of the very best...
I wish this was available in streaming platforms
Beautiful drum tones and playing!
Beautiful!
Yeah, this is pretty fantastic. Ethereal.
Us mere mortals can only listen slack jawed....
Great!!
Oh my goodness.

beautiful playing... 4038 on hats is genius, I'm going to try it
Glad to see the whiplash drummer still out there after that toxic band leader trauma.
Muscicianship at its best!
When DL lights up the pedal steel, hang on tight.
No mention of the players? just cameramen ....
Holy moly, what delay and overdrive is he using?
It's a Korg SDD3000 rack unit for his delay. All the drive is coming from his cranked AC30 :)

@@tommyfoleydo you know how he's making the volume swell like that? Sounds like he is using a volume pedal or is the volume knob on his guitar?
Maybe I missed it but… did they not credit the musicians?
Is this song on an album?

bad ass
all right then
Is this from an album or anything?
How is this technique called?
Lanois ...otra cosa...poder y profundidad. ruclips.net/video/RgbfadTlb_A/видео.html
