Thank you for showing the example for us visual learners.

I would like to see an engine on the Dyno with timing dot to dot. Then degree the Cam To see what the gains are if any.

All depends on the accuracy of the cam when CNC''D Advance or Retard and engine output and being R&M sky the limit

Ive seen a few how to degree a cam videos. This ones the best in giving full detail on setup and procedure. Thanks!

Man this was REALLY GOOD, I wish he had closed with a more detailed explanation as a conclusion. Being a first time for me, it leaves me thinking what next.

Why when finding TDC at degree wheel 19.5 degree, the piston is below the deck surface and is use as reference ?

I wish i could get the pdf file to print those cam pages to write down my measurements

1:34 Could you explain that differently ?
How is the locating dowel position relative to the base circle of the cam lobe determined ?
Is it installed before grinding ?
I would think yes as it would act as a dog to spin it between centers yes ?
I should watch a video on how a cam is made.

When the cam is made , the dowel is installed prior to the cam being ground. A drive is fixed to the dowel end. The cam grinding process / profile is then completed. The dowel is the datum. You sometimes read the cam is ground 3deg advance. In that case the drive end (usually supported in a chuck) is then clocked the 3deg and the grind process begins. I hope this helped.

Is this the same for twin cam engines?

So which way do you turn the adjustable camshaft gear if you find the lobe centerline being off based of off the cam card? This video didn't really explain that.

Hi, would that formula work with a 4 in line Kawasaki ZX7R motorcycle engine? Great video!

This was a good video and I'm not complaining but next time backup the camera so we can see everything the dial gauge and the wheel and the direction of the man turning the wheel . Leaves out the guess work for dummies like myself .
I'm visual so I can mimic what you're doing.
But thanks for sharing your knowledge.
    Blessings and more Blessings

I'm new to this stuff...trying to learn. It looked like the piston was not all the way up at TDC. Is the angle or am I missing something?

    • @raymondpanzera8710
      @raymondpanzera8710 5 лет назад +3

You are correct , the piston is not truly at TDC ,you take the measurement just before/after the piston reaches TDC because of piston dwell....every engine has piston dwell , that amount of crank degree can vary greatly. which is why you take the measurement just before and just after

A hard stop is more accurate, a dial does not account for bearing clearance, which is taken up by compression !

      Well, hmmm
I'll take that in consideration and run that across to Johnny ..
What I can say is that process has shown lots of horsepower on the dyno over the years ..
