I love my collection of graphic t-shirts but I was getting self-conscious about my flabby arms (I'm 57) so I've started to wear a favourite T under my GAP denim shirt dress, which I leave unbuttoned almost down to the waist. The t-shirt peeks from under the dress and looks amazing! Of course you can also wear a jumper/sweater or any other top under a shirt dress, I can't believe I didn't think about doing this before, it's like having a whole new wardrobe and I'm so glad I did not get rid of my denim dresses, which I thought I might be too old for. Denim (and double denim) forever!
Back in the 70s we all made denim jeans into skirts. I am thinking about doing it again because I can't buy a maxi denim skirt in my size here in NZ, for love nor money.
Just made a maxi skirt using 3 pair of jeans. Now my teenage granddaughter wants me to make one for her. I suggest you use men’s jeans or denim wear as it’s much better denim when compared women’s stretchy denim which is difficult to work with. BTW, love your country! Visited in 2019. Cheers from Canada.
@@Thestyleinsider. nope not in a size 16. I have been advocating with Max and a number of other stores to stock more size 16 because they always sell out first or they just don't even have it in that size. Been sending them their own stats back to prove it. Doubt it'll make a difference but I try.
I love your pink sweater, it’s a great color for you! I just shortened two midi dresses for spring/summer rather than getting new dresses. I decided that my legs are one of my better body parts and the midi length wasn’t particularly flattering. I’m excited to wear my “new” dresses!
This is what I do before I hit the stores, or thrift stores I have a list and most of the time I find what I’m looking for! Thank you for sharing Leonie, much appreciated! Have a wonderful day from Canada! 🤗😍🇨🇦
My favourite suit is an old D&G one of my partner's that he bought really small. I had it re-tailored and it is a gorgeous fabric. Don't have enough places to wear it as it's often too formal for my meetings, but maybe I should invent an occasion!
Yes thrift I got some great spring items I was really lucky. Got a lavender Jacket on the 1 pound rail very happy re vamp my wardrobe. Thank you ❤your channel sound advice
Loved this video just went to the thrift store yesterday with purpose and was also able to let go of items to knowing I'm getting more confident in my style
Hapoy Spring, Leonie! I love going on pinterest and searching certain wardrobe pieces. It is important to mention street style, like you mentioned, because all the trends come up and it is so fun to scroll through.
Definitely DIY with old jeans and thrifted denim if you can. Getting ready for this season….made a denim pencil skirt out of light blue jeans (old jeans of my husbands), a full skirt patchwork maxi out of 3 pairs of jeans (one thrifted, the rest belonging to my husband that he no longer wears) and cargo jeans out of two pair of men’s jeans. Buy men’s denim…much better denim for up cycling.
Another great video thanks ! Love the pink on you 🌸 💖 I don’t bother with trends as I don’t like a lot of them for example distressed clothing, fringes, cut off cropped tops etc. As I am religious in my faith I need to dress modestly so for me it’s below the knee length skirts /or maxi & sleeves that cover my elbows or long sleeves. Have a lovely weekend ❤
If you want to DIY some of your clothes but don't have a sewing machine, fabric glue from Amazon does the trick. I made a whole patchwork overall denim dress with fabric glue and it's amazing! 😊
@@Thestyleinsider. I just posted a video this morning and shared your channel as inspo - I’m a very small new content creator and appreciate your super chic and non-frumpy style videos for women over 50 🙌🏻🤗💕
Poshmark is great for buying second hand with intention. When I know what I want but can’t find it in a thrift store, I know someone out there is selling a version of it!
When I saw Karen's gold fringe blazer, I thought of it as a possbleIIi sa diy, that can be hand tack to the blazer. Other than doing actual DIYs there are probably hacks that will temporary change up a look of a garmemt. I like the name of not feeling it anymore at the time, term as parking. I done this for years because I never threw clothes away and save. I do put my stuff away seasonly and it so excitiing when you go thru the bins and reacquaint yourself on what you have from the previously year. I told you that I have stop thrifting for a bit because it had gotten out of hand. I am doing really good so far with staying out the thrift and retail stores. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
Leonie, I love you and your videos! Seriously, you are great! That being said, cannot stand the graphics and rapidly changing camera angles/zooms in this video. OMG, very distracting and bordering on giving me a headache. You are so much better than some 20 yr old who resorts to such antics to seem more entertaining. You are smart, knowledgeable and entertaining. Please do not make this part of your videos on a regular basis; you are so much better than that. 💗

SheIn has a ton for very reasonable price
Oh no you can’t find a goodie Sandy? Surely we have something on offer 😩😂

We did this in the 80s too.

Oh wow! Awesome 👏🏼
I can relate. I look much better in short dresses. Maxi dresses are not flattering on me at all and my husband hates them. Lol !

Yes that’s such a great idea - it’s the best way to thrift in my opinion 😩
Also from Canada - me too!
So practical and budget friendly. Thrift w intention. Purpose. Planning. I'm learning this. Thankyou. Your nails look so pretty.
Thank you!
Thank you for these great tips. This shade of Barbie pink looks great on you!
Oh thank you!
@@Thestyleinsider. you are very welcome.
Definitely play in your wardrobe and find things that can mix & match. High end with low, masculine with feminine and so on.
I totally agree!
This is such a time saver and helps your wallet to. Love this!
Yay so glad you enjoyed it 😊
I love your videos 🥰 you are always my first source when I it comes to fashion!!

Great fashion tips for the up coming season. That color looks great on you 🥰
Thank you so much!!
hey Leonie, can you do a video where you actually show us those exact pieces and outfit ideas for updating them? :)
Sadly it’s a tad tricky for me living on the other side of the world and being in the opposite season 😩
That pink looks so good on you..
Thank you so much 😊
Such a great video! I ❤ KarenBritChick too. Really great to show some different options & even DIY! Such great ideas
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you for the reminder and encouragement to shop my own wardrobe. Great tips, as always!

Sounds like a great idea 😀
I always make a list on my phone of seasonal trends. Then I list what I already have that fits those trends.
Perfect 🤩

Your vneck long sleeve pink sweater is a great transition piece. And it looks great on you. With the lighter denim. Nice!
Oh thank you!
Great minds think alike 😏...Just yesterday I cut off the sleeves of an old denim shirt to tap into that vest trend ✄✨
Love that!
Love watching your videos , thanks for the fashion advice!!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Leone! Some extra wide leg denim jeans can be turned into maxi skirts. I'm having my sister DIY a pair of white jeans into a maxi skirt.😊
Great idea!!
You look very nice in that bright pink sweater and light jeans.
Thank you so much

Spring? I'm going into autumn. Is there any help in the southern hemisphere department?

Yes I was thinking of hand sewing it to a blazer. I’m heading to DC this week so will be keeping my eye out for the perfect blazer 🙌🏼
