Don't underestimate the metal community, they don't usually vote in eurovision but I have feeling they will come out in force. Last time I voted was 2006 and will be again this year. ♥️🇬🇧
@@frightday13dragon94 it is indeed mor pop/rock. But I tend to vote for rock or metal during Eurovision because I know that not every rock/metal fan watches it. This year my votes are going to Germany. (I actually already was a fan of lord of the lost)
I have already seen some Finns say that they like this German song and will vote for it. Since the Finns can't vote for themselves (when everyone else will be voting for them), I think Germany will at least get points from Finland, both jury and public. 🙂 Some positive things I can say about Lord of the Lost is that I can immediately see it's a professional and experienced band, having never heard of them before. They have stage presence and have memorable staging. So they make a competent impression right away.
It was kind of cynical satire…nothing vulgar… in his song he kind of summarized the critique of NDR trash choices in recent years… in an interview he stated that he would like if NDR would finally take the ESC serious… the song was kind of mpcking the bourgois ESC business….. still selling the ESC as a trash contest ..I think in reality Ikke Hüftgold would love when Europes best musicians, songwriters would compete…
Well, it has been some years (or decades?) since the PEOPLE of Germany had a say in this. The responsible old farts at the radio/tv broadcaster were choosing on their own till last year. This year they brought in an international jury (everyone voted for Will Church, except Finland choosing our final winner), and also for the first time in forever public votes: televotes during the show and online votes before the show. About 40% of ALL those votes went to Lord Of The Lost, making them not only the public votes winner, but also overall winner.
"IKKE" means "nicht" or "no" in Norwegian so I guess it was a big no no ;) The LOTL singer has a very special, mysterious voice. He sounds like Peter Murphy sometimes which is a great compliment. I'm happy for your country.
I think, as Germans we don't even want to win Eurovision, we just don't wanna be last place anymore 😂 but yes, I'm already excited for may when lotl is gonna rock Liverpool 🩸✨️😌
I'm glad to know, I'm not the only one who's not into rock of this level and kinda liked the song itself and actually, I just watched the performance and I liked it too. I hope at least they can be among 6 -16, but if the stage is right 2-13, for sure.
@@eurovisionhistories For some reason, I also feel the song is really organic and represents a lot of the Germans, maybe I have the wrong idea this kind of music is from Germany, I don't know, and I'm sorry if I'm generalizing.
I think LOTL has a really good shot at getting left side of the scoreboard-particularly if they nail the staging.
Kiitos Suomi!! = DANKE FINNLAND !!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Really glad they won. And they won the televote! I had faith in you all along Germany! :-) Happy for Will he won the jury vote. For an independent artists that can only be a boost. A bit shocked Anica did so bad in the televote...she deserved more imo. But LoTL was a clear stand out winner to me. These are experienced performers they know how to command a stage so I am not worried about their staging in Liverpool. It's going to be epic, just wait! People won't be able to take their eyes off of the lead singer anyway..talking about stage presence! djeez. They came 5th with the jury and won the televote...If they can replicate that at Eurovision Germany stands a good chance for a spot at the left hand side. If the juries sort of put them somewhere mid-table in their rankings, not too low, and they rake in a decent amount of televotes which they will because this stands out considerably among all the other acts I really think it could do very well. We already know they will do well with the Nordics, possibly also the Baltics? Estonia surely...as 'revenge' for Ollie and Bedwetters :-) Australia could go for this as well. As far as the other rock songs this year..first let's see which ones make the final. Only one I could compare it to rockstyle wise maybe will be Voyager. So if they go through they might 'steal' points away for having a more accesible look and somewhat the same-ish music style. I prefer LoTL. I love the glam. There was a movie I loved as a teenager, Velvet Goldmine. They look as if they just walked right off that filmset. There will be viewers who will be reminded of the glamrock bands from the 70's, of David Bowie in his glamlook days..but also in the 80's bands had a much more daring look with the new wave bands...Sigue Sigue Sputnik came to mind when I watched last night. 90's had some cool looking bands too. Untill grunge ruined everything :-) Kidding. I love all kinds of rock. I am just so stoked there are so many rockbands at Eurovison this year. I like your Schlager-Glam-Metal description. Very fitting :-) Good luck to Lord of the Lost and thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the German fans who voted such a great band into Eurovision! I will vote for this for sure!
Thank you for the comment. Thoughtful as always. I think Anica was killed by the staging that was....distracting. mkst staging were pretty bad to be honest. I do hope many fans of this kind of music watch. The countries you mentioned are also what come to my mind plus AUT CH and maybe Balkans?
Side note: The most unexpected thing coming out of this national final was that I now NEED a full cover of Dancing Lasha Tumbai by Ikke Hüftgold. It was illegal how funny and good that was, lol.
Very very good choice for Germany, while watching yesterday I was shocked thinking Will Church might actually win. What on earth was that international jury thinking? Only Finland gave reasonable points xD Glad to see televoters changed the result, I wish the same had happened in Poland. This is the best German entry since Roman Lob for me (I wasn't a fan of Michael Schulte much), I think a top 10 is genuinely possible which would be huge for Germany. Overall I'm very pleasantly surprised!
I have waited for your take. Glad you like it ;) And yes Will Church possibly winning was scary. Almost started rooting for ikke to at least have something memorable
@@eurovisionhistories I know right, when I thought Will Church could win I genuinely preferred Ikke. But it turned out perfectly for Germany, I really hope they go all out with the staging and bring on an amazing show, it feels like this could be an act that gets loads of televote points. And when was the last time we could say that about Germany xD
@@TheMrPushy if we do I will do a video editing together all the zeros and the 257 points for LOTL and play it every time someone says its all politics
@@eurovisionhistories I hate that argument so much, it's Eurovision haters' only argument. But Germany won in 2010, UK came second last year, small countries like Cyprus came second, how do they explain that all kinds of countries have done well if it's all politics? It's not, anyone can win.
I love this entry!! Last night was one of the happiest nights of the season, I hope the best for your entry, much appreciation from Romania ❤️ It will stay in my top 10 but as a realistic prediction I’d say 10-15 at best and 16-20 at worst
I agree with your assessment, and as a German myself I am of coursed biased... though for the first time in what feels like 2 decades I can wholeheartedly stand proud behind our entry. Lord of the Lost is a great band of cool guys who know what they are doing and I am hoping for a Top 10 placement, but then again, we know, that a lot of behind the voting stuff happens and it is almost like rolling a D20 in D&D... you don't know what you get ^^ But we have a good shot (not as good as we would have had with Electric Callboy last year... but at least the NDR seems to have learned from the error of their ways... not the jury though). THANK YOU TO ALL YOU GUYS AND GALS WHO VOTED FOR CHRIS AND THE GUYS! YOU ROCK! ^^.
I don't know if you're right or wrong or biased in your prediction, but your commentary and analysis is amazing, all the kudos to you - you're rational, you back-up your opinion well and you're well spoken. I agree on everything - especially the part about staging, they need to make the stage explode, and I'm sure it will be like that if they get enough funds, the Unser Lied stage was not comparable to what will be there in Liverpool. I'm not German, but my bias is that I got completely obsessed with LOTL after discovering them on the German ESC National Final (as a massive ESC fan, I follow as many national selections as the time lets me), and there's little I have done in my free time since then but listen to LOTL's impressive, dizzyingly varied and rich body of work, of an incredible musical quality, that spans probably a dozen genres, from gothic rock/metal, dark rock, synth rock, gothic ballads and then all of that in the symphonic arrangement and incredible acoustic lives. I'm so happy they got selected, firstly because I got to discover them, and secondly because ESC is a great way of exposure to more audience, and they deserve all possible exposure, and then some more. So, trying hard to leave my bias behind (super difficult), I would almost agree with you. Top 10 should be a realistic prediction, give the past few years that brought some surprises where some unexpected high places happen. As for the win, this year, similar to the last year, already has an almost guaranteed winner - for different reasons, but still the same thing where we have other participants compete for the 2nd place. It's really pity, but that's how it is.
@@eurovisionhistories I actually like lord of the lost too, it was probably my second favorite. Plus i like it most when it is clear the people from the country are happy with what their sending. Which seems to be the case here and was not always for germany
Glad for your enthusiasm towards our country’s song, however I have to dampen it slightly. I don’t agree that this will get middling points from the juries. I realistically see it being quite low down the list in the final. If I were to compare it to something from last year, a similar story to Moldova is the best hope it has. I think it can be strong in the public vote, but probably maxing out between 5-8th. Ultimately, lower end of top 10, but more likely, 12-16th is where I see this ending up. But hey, that’s still an achievement for my adopted home after all these years!
I did the video right after the final ended and was still elated that it wasn't Ikke ;) and yes even 13th place would already be amazing. But I kind of hope for something like 7th place
Firstly, I am SO thankful that Germany did not send Ikke. That would have been a REAL embarrassment for your country and would probably result in authentic German artists reconsidering "what is the point of submitting a serious, crafted song to a national final if people are just going to vote for a joke" Secondly, I totally agree with you on Will Church. His vocals were really good, he is very likeable, but the song is just kind of nice. "Nice" is not enough in Eurovision - being mid-table in either jury or televote rankings doesn't give you any points - you absolutely have to be in at least SOME people's top 10. We could all rank this 11th and it would get no points at all. Unfortunately, that is what happened with Malik last year. Yeah - and James Newman too. Thirdly - I was SO gutted that Frida Gold had to withdraw. For me, THAT was absolutely the best song in the contest. It was in German, yes, but it still conveyed a sentiment in the way S10 did with a Dutch language entry last year. That would absolutely have been my choice for a German entry. Lord of the Lost? I'm sorry, I don't know your name, but this just sounds really, really dated. It's something that might have done well at ESC 20 years ago. ESC has moved on and we are seeing a lot more performance art, some real out of the box entries. We've seen glam rock before, but to win over an audience glam rock needs to have a sense of self-parody and irony and, researching this band, that just doesn't seem to be there - they seem to take themselves way too seriously. Sure, there will be a niche televote for this, bigger than their jury result, but to be honest I really don't see this making the left hand side of the leader board. Absolutely not last, not at all. There will be some weak entries in the final this year from the really poor SF2. Whatever! Germany, this is an improvement, and thank you for that. Viel Glück Listen, I'm from the UK, so I know exactly how you feel as an ESC fan from a country who doesn't seem to take this contest seriously. We woke up last year. You can do it too.
Thank you so much for your comment. It was nice reading it (not Will Church nice - real nice). I do think I may have gotten carried away by the fact they impeded Hüftgold and by this being the firt viable entry we have in years. But I do hope at least Top 15 is possible. I think they will do a lot more about the staging. As for waking up. This NF was a step in the right direction even though I had a rant ready had Ikke won. Getting good artists from different genres is the right way to go. Hope they continue on this path (without tik tik!) Who is your current fave, if I may ask?
@@eurovisionhistories I am buzzing that Germany is waking up. I actually really liked last year's NF. I LOVED Maël & Jonas. The whole camper van staging. It was really great, I just vibed with it. That might have been quite successful. Here in the UK, until this year, we have a really negative history towards ESC. For many years, we had a commentator called Terry Wogan who laughed at, and ridiculed, ethnic entries. I am so embarrassed and ashamed by that and my impression for a long time has ben that Germany treat this as something funny too.. Suddenly we just woke up and took this contest seriously. The BBC is full of content and podcasts about ESC, it's quite unbelievable At the end of the day, with the entrants we have so far, I don't see anyone other than Finland winning, but Spain TOTALLY enthrals me
I know Terry Wogan believe me and my feelings toward him are similar to yours. We never had that level of ridicule here and people do actually like the cintest. I think NDR just had no clue how to find a good song and Lena's win made them cocky. Glad to have you commenting! Please stick around ;) I need people to discuss Eurovision for at least the next two years
@@eurovisionhistories Personally, I'm all for Finland or Serbia. I watched my first ESC as a 10 year old in 1970. The great joy I have had, is that after after the quagmire of the 80s and 90s, ESC has grown and developed and more and more gives us performance art and out of the box staging that is absolutely not connected with joke entries . ESC is so much better, right now, than it has ever been before in my 50+ of viewing. In terms of musicality it is way improved. In terms of being an entertaining TV show, it has now become incomparable
Never watched Eurovision since I was a child . I’m only interested in Lord of the lost . We are seeing them in U.K. in September ,been a fan about a year 56 years old , you would be surprised how popular they are
Good job, Germany. This entry has chances to appeal to both eurovision-y entries fans and metal music enjoyers. Left side of the scoreboard is very possible. By the way, could you lend Anica to your sad neighbours. We are in desperate need for decent entry and will provide all the greenery if needed. 😉
I am really biased because LOTL is one of my all-time favorite bands, and even though this is not the best song they've ever released, I will support them and really hope they place high in the final!
@@eurovisionhistories I found them and fell in love with them when their album Thornstar was released - the first songs I heard were Loreley and Morgana, so that might be a good place to start 😁 I would also recommend listening to Dry the Rain (one of their oldest songs), La Bomba (metal & salsa fusion with a fun music video), See You Soon (a ballad that always makes me cry), and Raining Stars (futuristic dystopia theme, with an equally interesting music video). From the more recent releases I would recommend Priest (cleaner vocals with a more cinematic music video) and Leave Your Hate in the Comments (on the heavier side, as the title suggests, it is clapping back at haters).
I'm lucky, I love pretty much any genre of music, which is why I love Eurovision, but at heart I'm a metalhead. If you look at my gig history or record collection, 99% is metal. LotL is right up my alley. Chris Harms has a great voice, whether it's clean singing, disorted or screamo, with an excellent technique for the latter, meaning he'll be able to continue for years. They're also a band that's mesmerising on stage. I think it's telling that they released their last album last Christmas/New Year with little to no fanfare, very little marketing yet, within 6 days, it went to #1. They're also got an international fanbase throughout Europe & the US, which explains why they've toured with Iron Maiden & have been invited back for a second tour with them this year. Fun fact: Harms was the cellist for Eros Atomus' entry in last year's German national final, Alive. Atomus had a cellist lined up but the guy dropped out at the last minute, so he asked the producer of the record if he knew anyone. Harms was that producer & he offered to help out because he's played the cello for years & sometimes plays it on LotL records. I love LotL because they#re chamelons, ready to change from very hardf music to a softer, more melodic style. Their latest albuim, Blood & Glitter is in the latter style, with elements of electronic music from the 70s & 70s. I think it's one of their songs whioch would be accessible to Eurovision fans who arenm't into metal for that reason. I watched an interview with an American who's in the music business & is a metal fan. It was Harm's second interview with him, & it felt more like 2 friends & music fans having a chat about anything that entered their head. In it, Harms admitted he was nervous about Eurovision. (The American is a fan of Eurovision, & he knows about it because he regulalry tours in Europe with bands from all over the world as their guitar tech guy.) This was before the national final, & Harms said he was especially worried about the start of the song, when he begins singing before the music comes in. He came across as a very likeable, earnest man who cares about music. The interviewer asked him to give his opinions on the other entries & he refused. saying they were all talented individuals whom he respected. I thiink that the way he tried to include them in the reprisal after they'd won was an example of his regard for them.
Thank you for all the background info. That is really interesting. So great that he jumped in last minute and is so musical he plays several instruments. Some people don't see that also for music like metal you need to be musical. Where could I find the interview with the American?
Don‘t underestimate the importance of the huge stage in Liverpool. The show will look different when they have space and can move around freely. They were cramped on this mini-stage in Cologne. Looked a bit odd to me. But afar from that…awesome.
@@eurovisionhistories I could very well be wrong. 😊 It's not my kind of music so it's very hard for me to predict. Keep an eye on the betting odds. They tend to be relatively accurate even though they don't get every song right.
@@nian60 We should remember that betting odds rely a lot on the past years statistics, which for Germany were less than flattering, plus they are "afraid" of non-typical ESC entries, so that's influencing LOTL's results now. For example, the betting odds kept Maneskin around 15th place, in the early phase, despite Italy's good past statistics, just because it's rock, and in Italian at that (they thought it was a negative factor), so they predicted them lower score than what Italy usually gets. When the ESC acoustic and lives started, Maneskin went up in the odds (LOTL kills lives and acoustics and symphonics..., so let's wait for that), and after the first rehearsals, Maneskin went around mid-top 10. 3 days before the final, betting odds gave them the win, so yes, technically, the odds are pretty accurate 3 days before, but we still have 7 weeks to go ;) Also, betting odds can be wrong quite a bit, even with winners - in 2018 they were giving win to Cyprus (with 37%), and Israel won (with 24%). And with lower places they sometimes miss by 10, 12 places. They were giving San Marino in 2021 10th place, and they came 22nd.
I absolutely adore Lord of the Lost and have for years. They're doing really well recently right of the back of supporting Iron Maiden and a number 1 album. They also have historically been strong allies to the LGBTQ+ community and are all just lovely. I think given the campness of eurovision, support from Metal and Goth community, they are going to be a really strong entry. I'm a Brit and will be rooting for them to win the whole thing. I loved the Rasmus last year but the song was a bit meh, this is better and insanely catchy.
Lord of the Lost is the only band I was familiar with from the possible entries. The band's singer did a duet with an artist that I really like, and I was happy to find out that Lord of the Lost had won! The staging was not my cup of tea either, but the song is alright and I have a feeling Germany will definitely get points this year in the final and not finish last.
Eurofans + people that vote in May are not into good rock or metal songs. As an example all the good rock songs that were NQ in NF, (Ollie, Raum, Nicklas Sonne) while some avarage bland songs will be in Liverpool. When Lorde won, vote system was 100% televote, but fans had a diferent taste for music. Can't see them in top10 only with televote help, but I hope Finland, Austria or Denmark could push them between 10-15. Regards!
For the lyrics, I agree. I prefer Fury in the galaxy Dusk and Dawn. The lyrics for the German Hard Rock Fury in the Galaxy are really beautiful and bring hope. For the voice, sometimes it's not perfectly in tune and this is a bit a pitty. I think Germany could go further in the ranking this year if the tune improves.
Lord of the lost machen auf der Bühne natürlich was her. Tolle Outfits und Show.
I'm really happy they won, I personally would have liked Will Church representing us even less than Ikke Hüftgold. Let's be honest, dude looked like he didn't even want to be there. He wasn't it. Instead we get a LOT of personality, and some fresh wind for Germany at Eurovision! As for the placement, I do not want to be too optimistic yet, but I feel like a left half of the scoreboard could be reachable this year. I don't think the song will get a ton of jury votes though, but it might do well in the public vote. I think it's safe to say we're getting more than the usual 0-3 points this year, and should steer clear of the bottom 5 placements. The upside I think could be a second-half top-ten placement. Excited to see where it goes!
@@eurovisionhistories I think you could be right, but it's hard to guess how people are going to react to a song like this. It certainly stands out, but is that enough to collect votes, seeing as metal fans are not first in line to be eurovision fans? I think a lot will come down to things like running order, staging and just a bit of luck on the day.
Lord of lost was in middle.they got many Points from crowd Like Schlager ikke huftgold.many Like us wanted different music since they canceled electric callboy.lord of lost are famous specially in Alternative Scene and they Touring with Iron maiden
Left hand side. I am almost certain. It's heavy but still quite melodic. The lyrics are done really well, they wrapped a rather profound message in a very catchy easy simple singalong bow. His voice is really good. In it's genre it is at the top of the game..juries have to respect that. So if they all put them somewhere in the middle of their rankings they will have a good starting position when the televotes come in. I think televote wise they might have a shot to come top 5. And then combined that should be enough for a top 10 position overall..maybe 11 or 12. But my money is on a top 10 placing.
@@EbizzerHH I might be in need of medical assitance if they manage to do that because i'll likely break some bones from jumping up and down with joy :-)
I am sooo happy that LOTL is going to Liverpool ESC final!! Please note that the front man, Chris Harms, neither smokes nor drinks. He said that once in an interview.
@@eurovisionhistories He probably quit smoking recently, because I saw him vaping in their tour vlogs. ;) So there can be something of that in his voice, but not much, as he always sounded pretty much like this, even in his 20s (he's 43 now).
Thank you Germany for not picking Ikke Hüftgold. I think the chosen song won't come last in the final. I can't judge how high it will go though. The people who listen to this kind of music typically don't watch Eurovision. The closest song comparison I can think of is Hungary in 2018. Hungary finished in 21st place. My prediction is right side of the scoreboard for Germany this year, but not last. Thanks for the video.
@@eurovisionhistories You can! I'm Scandinavian and this should get votes from us (maybe not Sweden, they're very "mainstream schlager pop"). Blind Channel is a more serious rock band, but who doesn't want a LOTL party? Besides, LOTL also has a very good singer. I predict left side of the score board and a big f' you / signal to the German Broadcaster that this is the way to go for the future.
LOTL have much more ESC-fitted and catchier song than AWS (Hungary) had in 2018, so that comparison doesn't really work. Much better applies what OP commented here about Blind Channel (Finland 2021), or, I'll add, Go-A (Ukraine, the same year), who were catapulted in the top 10 by the televote), and another comment comparing the final result with Moldova last year, who ended up 6th overall, and was 2nd in the televote (which can as well be considered 1st, as Ukraine was a guaranteed winner from way before the ESC started, for understandable reasons). So if LOTL does this well, and gives a show, and entertains and makes people remember them, the televote is going to be good. And they already stand out with all the female singer poppy stuff.
You said you try not to be biased but I think your prediction is very German biased. Germany never had any chance of becoming into the top 5. 😂 But that's okay. That's human.
I always have to chuckle a bit, because, "Blood and Glitter" sounds a bit, to me, like the name of a bar for gay vampires in Berlin! 🤣 But nevermind that … this song *_rocks._* I think it's gonna do well. And I _hope_ that it does well.

@@nian60 may patty gurdy but she was not good on the night. I doubt they would have thought Frida Gold could win. Anyway at this point it is mostly fans betting and metal is probably not really their style
I prefer Australia when it comes to rock this year. It feels like prog rock for 2023. This one feels like 2000s rock. Like a song that didn't make it to one of Rammstein's earlier albums. Also, "Blood and Glitter" sounds like such a tacky title. Not the worst song in the contest but not a thumbs up from me.
Blood and Glitter is an homage to the book of the same title about golden years of glam rock, therefore a "tacky title". It's on LOTL's latest album, that was written and produced much before they submitted for ESC, and which is mostly fusion between 80s disco, even Italo-disco, and hard core/metal. It decidedly does not sound like anything Rammstein though, fictional or not ;) I warmly recommend a listen ;)
@@dvanaestcestica1135 it's grown on me. Maybe it's not totally Rammstein but it is still like a soup of early 2000s European rock bands like Rammstein and HIM. The style sounds dated. Just my opinion. I do listen to rock songs from that era. I just think it's a bit early for modern day rock bands to revisit the 2000s.
Don't underestimate the metal community, they don't usually vote in eurovision but I have feeling they will come out in force. Last time I voted was 2006 and will be again this year. ♥️🇬🇧
Yaaay tell your friends and grandma too please
Yes, I never voted, only see 2006 festival, and this year my first time vote will be for they (I'm from Spain) 🤘🤘
We actually do vote...... Where do you think maneskin got so many votes from?
@@lizzten9490 I personally find maneskin to be more pop rock then metal, and I also said the metal fans don't usually vote.
I hope for points from all Nordics, Baltics and Austria Switzerland at least
@@eurovisionhistories OK. We will see how it goes. Good luck Germany. 🙂
Congrats Germany for picking the best performers! I was rooting for them. Happy to see that Ilke's vulgar onslaught was thwarted.
So happy the people of Germany finally got it right! They will do well!
Hahah that is funny! Thank you for being happy for us
Made me think of Peter Murphy too.

Glad I am not.completely delusional with the prediction ;)
@@eurovisionhistories For some reason, I also feel the song is really organic and represents a lot of the Germans, maybe I have the wrong idea this kind of music is from Germany, I don't know, and I'm sorry if I'm generalizing.
I think LOTL has a really good shot at getting left side of the scoreboard-particularly if they nail the staging.
LOTL = verdienter Televote-Gewinner
Yep staging is essential for this

Very fitting :-)
Good luck to Lord of the Lost and thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the German fans who voted such a great band into Eurovision!
Ich hatte für Patty Gurdy, Lonely Spring und Lord of the Lost abstimmt und bin mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden.
Glad you like it ;)
And yes Will Church possibly winning was scary.

Even though i kinda liked the absurdity of ikke, i am happy to see that you are happy with your representative
Haha thanks. I am ;) you don't like it?
@@eurovisionhistories I actually like lord of the lost too, it was probably my second favorite. Plus i like it most when it is clear the people from the country are happy with what their sending. Which seems to be the case here and was not always for germany
That is a good position to have ;) and yes reactions seem to be positive.
Where are you from? Your name could be German actually ;)
@@eurovisionhistories Yes my name is of German origin, but I'm actually Dutch
Sehr mutig. Gothicpunk. Herrausragend. Ist nicht der Einheitsschmus wie immer.
That would have been a REAL embarrassment for your country and would probably result in authentic German artists reconsidering "what is the point of submitting a serious, crafted song to a national final if people are just going to vote for a joke"
Secondly, I totally agree with you on Will Church.
Viel Glück
Listen, I'm from the UK, so I know exactly how you feel as an ESC fan from a country who doesn't seem to take this contest seriously.
Hope they continue on this path (without tik tik!)
Who is your current fave, if I may ask?
The BBC is full of content and podcasts about ESC, it's quite unbelievable
At the end of the day, with the entrants we have so far, I don't see anyone other than Finland winning, but Spain TOTALLY enthrals me
I know Terry Wogan believe me and my feelings toward him are similar to yours. We never had that level of ridicule here and people do actually like the cintest. I think NDR just had no clue how to find a good song and Lena's win made them cocky.
Glad to have you commenting! Please stick around ;) I need people to discuss Eurovision for at least the next two years
@@eurovisionhistories Tell me, as a German viewer. Would you be happy with Frida Gold, a German language entry?
Hahaha the greenry... Was too much
I am really biased because LOTL is one of my all-time favorite bands, and even though this is not the best song they've ever released, I will support them and really hope they place high in the final!
What are the best songs? I'm a new fan and wanna discover more stuff
@@eurovisionhistories "Loreley" is great, cool music video for that one too!
@@RiceLow thanks!
@@eurovisionhistories I found them and fell in love with them when their album Thornstar was released - the first songs I heard were Loreley and Morgana, so that might be a good place to start 😁
I would also recommend listening to Dry the Rain (one of their oldest songs), La Bomba (metal & salsa fusion with a fun music video), See You Soon (a ballad that always makes me cry), and Raining Stars (futuristic dystopia theme, with an equally interesting music video).
From the more recent releases I would recommend Priest (cleaner vocals with a more cinematic music video) and Leave Your Hate in the Comments (on the heavier side, as the title suggests, it is clapping back at haters).
Wow that sounds really interesting especially the salsa ome. I love salsa ;)
Thank you so much for the tipps!
Yess I am looking forward to that so much!
They surely won't win, but they also surely won't become last - which will be a success already.
They need to bring back Lena and her blue underwear 😂😂
The only question is :
Witch place between 19 th and 26 th will Germany reach ?
Naaaah
I will be optimistic and guess 20th place then (1 place higher than Hungary 2018).
@@nian60 :(
@@eurovisionhistories I could very well be wrong.
Which singer is that? Hope you are right about Germany's chances
@@eurovisionhistories The artist's name is Mad Gallica
Eurofans + people that vote in May are not into good rock or metal songs. As an example all the good rock songs that were NQ in NF, (Ollie, Raum, Nicklas Sonne) while some avarage bland songs will be in Liverpool. When Lorde won, vote system was 100% televote, but fans had a diferent taste for music. Can't see them in top10 only with televote help, but I hope Finland, Austria or Denmark could push them between 10-15. Regards!
If they voted for Blind Channel I think they might also vote for this. But we shall see.
I do think Nordics will have points for this
For the lyrics, I agree.
Germany picked the best one. They proved us their collective common sense wasn’t dead since they literary won the televote
Yeah that was reassuring
If you see them live everyone of them have their post in the stage. React to their live shows
So the staging is usually different?
I love leave your hate in the comments ;)
Yes second half Top 10 would be great. I hope I wasnt too optimistic in the video. I saw a few reactions that were quite negative too
@@eurovisionhistories I think you could be right, but it's hard to guess how people are going to react to a song like this. It certainly stands out, but is that enough to collect votes, seeing as metal fans are not first in line to be eurovision fans? I think a lot will come down to things like running order, staging and just a bit of luck on the day.
Yeah. The negative reactions are from Eurovision fans so doesn't mean that much either
Lord of lost was in middle.they got many Points from crowd Like Schlager ikke huftgold.many Like us wanted different music since they canceled electric callboy.lord of lost are famous specially in Alternative Scene and they Touring with Iron maiden
Chris is 43. Clean from cigarettes and alcohol for 3 years i think and never did drugs.
😊
Good for him!
What do you think? Where will Germany end up on Final night?
@@esc_germany left hand side ;) I really think it is FINALLY possible
Top 3 for sure!
@@Stonebrook83 Haha, same buddy... same! ;)
I am sooo happy that LOTL is going to Liverpool ESC final!!
Please note that the front man, Chris Harms, neither smokes nor drinks. He said that once in an interview.
I meant to say his voice sounds AS IF he did smoke and drink a lot ;)
@@eurovisionhistories He probably quit smoking recently, because I saw him vaping in their tour vlogs. ;) So there can be something of that in his voice, but not much, as he always sounded pretty much like this, even in his 20s (he's 43 now).
Danke Kirsten ;)
For me it's a 10-15 :)
Not too sure about this song, it is in my view not the winner not even in the top 15. Shade. Love the format of your videos.😘😘❤️
As long as you love the videos you can hate the entry 😂😂😂
Thank you Germany for not picking Ikke Hüftgold.
I think the chosen song won't come last in the final. I can't judge how high it will go though. The people who listen to this kind of music typically don't watch Eurovision. The closest song comparison I can think of is Hungary in 2018. Hungary finished in 21st place. My prediction is right side of the scoreboard for Germany this year, but not last. Thanks for the video.
I hope we can compare it to Blind channel a bit or Norway in 2005
@@eurovisionhistories Good point. Yes those are good comparisons too.
But nevermind that … this song *_rocks._* I think it's gonna do well. And I _hope_ that it does well.

This song is not for me.
Can't please everyone ;)
left side I think. Now I need to google Schlager songs.
Last evening Germany was in 21st place in the Eurovision betting odds. Today (Saturday afternoon), Germany is in 24th place. I'm sorry. At least it's not Ikke. That's positive.
Yeah I don't get that. What were people expecting?
@@eurovisionhistories I assume the bet placers expected another winner then. Maybe the act that had to withdraw due to illness? I don't know.
@@nian60 may patty gurdy but she was not good on the night. I doubt they would have thought Frida Gold could win. Anyway at this point it is mostly fans betting and metal is probably not really their style
@@eurovisionhistories Yes, possibly.
You don't need to say you're German. We can hear it clearly 😄
:( . Working on it 😅
I could be Austrian or Swiss though, no?
I think ikke hüftgold can also work… just remember raab and gildo
They had a melody and were entertaining
@@eurovisionhistories good point xD
Please react to Song "From fall to Spring - Draw the Line" 😀
I only do Eurovision songs ;)
LOTL
You like the song?
@@eurovisionhistories for me is going to stay between 7th and 12th place. It was the best and safe choice for germany to be competitive finally.
That would be amazing for us ;) Obrigado
🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦 blanca paloma!
The wrong Song has won.
Which one did you want to win?
I predict a finish (at the moment) - around Top 8-16 for this band. Well done Germany !
