It's in fact quite mind-boggling to me how even Herbert himself frequently made the statements he did about being wary of those kinds of leaders, and how Villeneuve puts it all over the films, and yet there are still people mindlessly rooting for him as if he were a typical comic book hero.
The idea of the books is that, you have to think that he’s a hero and then on the following book (it was only one huge book on the beginning) you see what Paul really is, like in the real world when people idolatry a leader like a super human only to discover that he’s a human a very miserable one.
