Heyy nice food review there! About the usual way of eating string hoppers and curries ,you are supposed to put few string hoppers in the plate then add the curry you like then mash the string hoppers with curry then eat.also there is a technique when eating from hand, you can search that on RUclips .I loved the video and thank you for trying sri lankan foods!
eating from ur dominant hand is the drill. not necesserily right hand. Other hand is used in the washroom so yeah. its just etiquette we are told to use our dominant hand only for clean stuff haha Loved the video I cant wait to try kfood too
Thank you for your comment and information! It helped me to understand more. I should have found better ways to eat, but it was nice experience! And if you have a chance, meet spicy Kfoods once. It's really amazing!
@@hoontamin ah no you did perfectly fine. Hope u get to try more things srilankan in the future :) yeah not just once gonna make em part of my diet in the future haha
Wow that's a lot. The yellowish gravy is potatoe curry. You can mix the string hoppers with dhal, potatoe, or chicken curry and eat like eating rice. You can even add some chicken curry to the Kottu roti and eat. It would taste great. Nice video, enjoyed it.
You should try faluda next time and as a kpop and a kculture fan I have always wondered if kfood is really spicier than ours or no.but now i think it depends on the cook haha That curry was a potato curry. It is normally the non spicy curry for the people that cant handle spicy food. You just pour some curry on top of string hoppers mix with some pol sambol and eat. The ssam method we do with just pol sambol and stringhoppers. but with curry as u saw,its impossible lol. so u have to eat it on the plate

well our food isnt really spicy like korean food...but we use a huge number of spices when cooking...im not talking about just chilly powder here, spices like turmaric, goraka, kiri, thunapaha ect..our foods are really flavorful...they have their fair share of spicyness but its not as spicy as korean ones..
Hahaaa loved your review, but guys when eating Sri Lankan food you need to mix the curries (dhal, coconut sambol, potato curry, etc.) with the main dish (rice / kottu / coconut rotti / noodles / string hoppers / hoppers) on the plate and if possible try eating with hands and wash later on. Do not try curries just alone like soup that would be a waste of ingredients without a mix-match. The real taste comes when you mix and grind all curry and main dish together. Cheers for many future vlogs & we hope to see you in SL. Thank you! 감사합니다 💖🙏 [P.S. it is fine to eat with any comfortable hand, majority use right hand since left is for personal cleaning purposes, and its ok to request utensils also Sri Lankans use them as well...]
The curry was Potato curry in Sinhala it is 'Ala hodi'. Koreans do have more of spicier food, I have noticed but I would say it depends with the cook..... But it was a very nice and respectful food review Much love from Sri Lanka ♥️♥️
@@hoontamin I'm glad you enjoyed our country's food :) Next time try Wambatu Moju aka Eggplant / Brinjal Pickle , The cashew curry and the Fish ambul thiyal ( Sour fish curry)
You can mix chicken curry with both koththu and string hoppers. Its very tasty. The dish you didnt know was a potato curry (made with potato and coconut milk)

Actually korean dining culture is similar to sri lankan, usually its a combination of side dishes and rice.
Fact: Sri Lankan eat with their right hand. It's a hygienic thing not a religious thing. The left hand we use to wipe ... 😅😅

Sorry mate .Kotthu is not an one of our national dish it's a junk food/street food. Very unhealthy dish. 👍😃
I don't think so about saying it as a very unhealthy dish.
Yes it’s…this dish came out during 70’s .. we knows ever bit of it very well than junk food esters/new generations👍
