Another peak episode for an entirely peak season

The one thing so many people seem to have missed is the reason why Kazuma even got serious. He wasn't serious cause he wanted to stay in the castle, he got serious cause he was honestly worried about Iris. He knew Iris had the potential of being killed in the future cause of that divine treasure, and so he had to act fast before going back to Axel. Even though I say people "missed" that fact, Its more of how I interpreted it.

It's always funny how many people fail to realize Kazuma is actually really strong. He is just paired off against the worst possible enemies and with a party that handicaps him. Against humans the dude is a beast that can pretty much drain and spam magic all day long.
Supplementary info/LN changes (long comment warning because many notable things were changed.)
Fun fact: the WN released (Dec. 2012 - Oct. 2013) before Persona 5 was announced (Nov. 24, 2013) and LN 6 (March 1, 2014) was released before Persona 5 released (September 15, 2016.) In the LN, after the punch last episode, Megumin was on his back likely due to Explosion and realized he was back, so she told him to give her Mana so she can help him fight and she beat up the delinquents without Explosion (she let Iris fight, because her stats are OP as a Royal and she could beat them in Kazuma’s body, despite the swap.) Claire and Darkness were furious and lectured him when he returned, instead of Aqua (during the banquet, Claire also chewed him out so badly he ran away crying and wanted to leave, because everyone thought his Party should ditch Kazuma and gave solutions to replace Kazuma, the weakest class and felt useless, despite everything he did so far.) Claire was like an S, the counterpart to the M Darkness and Kazuma confronted her about her desires with Iris, bringing up her having a moment with Iris.) 5:26 - He did steal her pantsu twice and gets 3 opportunities to harass her, though despite this (anime added an extra Steal and opportunity to harass her.) 5:47 - In that Episode, Iris said that her brother received it from someone else and Alderp said Jastice should marry Darkness.
They weren’t caught the same way in the LN, as Kazuma triggered the alarm by stealing a dirty magazine and they shouldn’t have been spotted with Lurk, as it can trick even a Rookie Killer (the monster shown in KonoBakuen.) Rain is a Mage, so the anime buffed her by giving her access to healing, which that class doesn’t get (she ‘healed’ Mitsurugi by melting the ice with her magic and couldn’t heal Claire/Claire didn’t fight.) 9:35 - This entire fight disappointed the community, since the LN makes it clear that it’s all Kazuma with the mask just giving him clearer thinking and apparently an important staff member downplays Kazuma so he never gets his full cool moments from the LN, for comedy (he solos the knight force by spamming Drain Touch, Create Earth and Windbreath to blind, Bind, and Steal, to non-lethally defeat everyone with no damage skills, besides Drain Touch and causes them to panic because they think he’s more powerful than a Crimson Demon, as no one should be able to use such high mana costing spells like Bind and spam it, he doesn’t have Manatite, and they can’t see Drain Touch, so it just looks like he is just one-shotting people by being near, Kazuma defeats Mitsurugi by grabbing his face and shoving Create Water down his throat and instantly uses Freeze, preventing him from breathing and naturally choking, lowering their morale and forcing them to get help so Mitsurugi doesn’t die and he was taken out during this scene, Chris and Kazuma used this skill called Escape, which prevented the knights from capturing them/catching up to them as it boosted their evasion rate, Kazuma used Snipe to break Rain’s staff, causing her to cry, and prevented her from casting deadly magic to kill them, and the stakes were higher as Claire told Rain and everyone else to kill them and would let Aqua use Resurrection.) Darkness used the lighter and burned the dirty magazine, which made Kazuma dejected and the scene where the castle finds out, is due to Aqua and Megumin, who sealed the Divine Treasure ahead of time and confirmed it was to protect Iris, respectively (Claire insults Kazuma again, but starts crushing on the masked thief, saying that she was disappointed that he became a thief, would’ve taken him in if he wasn’t a criminal, and hopes to meet him again.) Iris says that she fell for the handsome thief, pranked Kazuma to get a reaction out of him, and when Kazuma declares to beat the Demon King, Claire sneers at him (Iris also mentions her unique skill here in this anime only scene, Exterion, which is a glowing slash that can cut things into two and she can vary it’s power.) 20:36 - Darkness said that because she didn’t want Iris to reveal the truth and force Kazuma to stay here/delay the marriage (if she revealed, no one would be able to separate the future king and queen and the story would end here and Iris found out when Kazuma used steal on the ring.)
Fun fact: the chibis here are from the LN and are used for the next LN previews (also, among the dolls Mitsurugi has, one is a Winter Shogun, which Kazuma won for Yun Yun in LN 3/S2.) When Megumin writes the note, Darkness and Kazuma react, with Darkness panicking and Kazuma choosing not to reveal because he’s now her hero that she looks up to (there was also a silly scene where Kazuma steals Aqua’s wine and Megumin’s age is brought up and she says that she’s old enough to marry, so she’s allowed to drink and goes to buy the wine as Kazuma’s too overprotective.) So, I mentioned the cut ring joke in Episode 4, because at the end of this 2nd epilogue, Aqua sees the ring and tries to perform the same trick again, which Kazuma instantly keeps it away from her and LN 6 ends (they swapped the Alderp, Iris, and Kazuma scenes/PoVs, with Alderp first, then Iris, and lastly Kazuma’s, for the LN and some info was cut, but I’m holding it back, because they’re portraying it as a mystery instead of a crazy sudden reveal, like they did for Wolbach in LN 4 and KonoBakuen, and Hans in the same LN.) With what you’ve seen so far, you can now see that this is one of the darker and more serious LNs with insidious things happening and that Konosuba is more than just a comedy (the same staff cut one infamous chapter which would’ve clued anime only viewers in more, at least for Kazuma’s skills and not think he’s a joke) and the next LN/second half of this Season will continue this vibe and why they separated LN 5 and LN 6, so LN 6 and 7 could continue back to back (also, the first LN with no boss fight or General.) The title of LN 6 is a parody of Rokka no Yuusha/Rokka: Heroes of the Six Flowers (Rokka no Oujo/Princess of the Six Flowers.) 25:49 - Since Iris is 12, she can legally marry him in 2 years in this world, since Megumin is 14 and can marry/Yui Yui tried to get them to marry in the movie (it’ll also be a while until they fight the Demon King anyways, since we still have 3 more Generals to kill/break the barrier.)

In the novel, She called out chris just to mess with kazuma, she is a little more mischievus there 😂

Although it is true that the mask gave him a boost, it was not significant, since the mask is for sale, so it is not supposed to give a strong boostin in battle, it gives Kazuma a boost of confidence, he is much stronger and intelligent than people think
the mask kazuma has is unique to the ones being sold. vanir said as much when he gave it to him.
In the anime it's been kinda a trend to either cut or tone down moments where Kazuma is more competent. He did have the mask in the LN, but it was basically just a normal mask. I'm pretty sure they did this to stick to that trend. At this point in the series, Kazuma is actually pretty powerful
It was actually a vanir mask though, but i think the effect was mostly placebo
yeah, kazuma for his level is actually pretty OP. His adventurer class is actually a big advantage since he pretty much a mix of everything (mage, thief, archer, etc) And in the novel we see in the episode when he switch party with Dust that he is indeed a pretty competent person given the teamate is not the 3 er.. not so optimal heroine.
i do wish they adapt a more serious tone sometimes but i also see how that can turn off a lot of anime only viewers. well let’s see how they do the next arc

IIRC Vanir’s marketing slogan for that mask was exactly that you would feel stronger and have better complexion under the full moon, so I guess Vanir wasn’t lying about that! What a great businessman

They're starving the light novel readers with this season. This arc was one of the best and they only gave it half a season. They made the royal guards looked like clowns here. In the LN Kazuma outplayed them way harder.
Spoilers:
Alderp wants to be with Darkness.
His plan was for his son (Walter) to marry Darkness and then, with the divine treasure, swap bodies with him, but as we saw in the second season, he ends up refusing to marry.
His next plan was to gift the divine treasure (the necklace) to Jatice (Iris's brother) and then ship Darkness with Jatice (as we saw in the third episode of this season), have them get married and then switch bodies with Jatice, but he didn't expect Jatice to give the necklace to Iris.
This was revealed in the novels during the epilogue of volume 6 qnd should have been added during the "post credit" scene in the anime

As LN reader I'm disappointed and mad because they changed and cut out so many stuff that plot has drastically changed and there were no expected by me serious moments.

yeah especially kazuma moments since he seems to be more badass both in the manga and in the LN

1.There was a dialogue between Claire and Kazuma in which Claire suggested that due to Kazuma's low characteristics as solo adventurer it would be for the best if he left his party and girls got teamed up with Mitsurugi and nobles were quite fond of that idea. That was the reason why Kazuma came back to inn crying but anime made that out as joke of him not wanting to leave capital.
2.Kazuma and Chris were found out not because Kazuma was trying to rub with Chris. In that scene in LN they just used lurk so that was just dumb in anime. Alarm started because Kazuma found p**n magazine in royal treasury and was too temped to take it.
3.Whole castle raid was supposed to be high paced run through the guards and mages of a castle with Kazuma using his various skills: create earth + wind breath in orded to blind enemy, create water + freeze which was used just once in anime, bind which was also used multiple times in LN, flee skill in order to keep up high speed.
4.Fight with Mitsurugi should've been ended with his throat frozen and not being able to breath.
Small detail
5. In the moment of double steal Iris recognized Kazuma and her commentary on thief and change to silver haired one was actually a tease on Kazuma.
My main problem with episode is point 1 because I craved for it to make Kazuma's emotions and worries to look serious and desperate. I understand why castle raid was cut short but this could also be solved if Kadokawa gave Konosuba 12 episodes like any other anime instead of strange 11.
True, but the novel is always more "meaty" limitations of the 24 minute episode i guess. I still liked it a lot though
immediately after the end scene with the noble guy and the other divine treasure, I immediately went back and watched the previous episodes to see if we knew what this divine treasure did
Apparently, we do know: Eris told Kazuma what both of them do at the same time - and since this episode dealt with the body-switching one, the one the noble had was one that let its user summon any monster at no cost. Which makes me wonder what the noble wanted to do with it.
